  1. Davis with his first homer, and Hyde with his first ejection. That was definitely interference, not a "hard slice". Can't believe they didn't overturn it on replay. Glad to know Hyde will stick up for his players.
  2. RIP Florida Man In a land of populated by gators, sharks and pythons, he was done in by ... A bird https://www.cnn.com/2019/04/14/us/cassowary-bird-kills-florida-man/index.html
  3. So when Davis breaks Dimaggio's hit streak, should he break through the banner with the # of games, or would that be too much?
  4. Wow, did Jeff Passan just start writing yesterday ? The Ozzie Albies extension was 7 years $35 milion . The Orioles still owe Chris Davis $92 miliion dollars. He earned $23million last year (including deferred money) to be a -3 WAR player. He has yet to get a base hit this year. Albies could complete forgot how to play baseball tomorrow, and the contract still wouldn't be as 1/3 as bad as Chris Davis.
  5. Maybe none of them want to be the first one to give up a hit
  6. Speaking of breaking futility records, how many home runs are the O's pitchers going to give up this year? We must be on pace for like 400
  7. And whats going to happen in 6 months? Parliamentary elections? A second referendum? What are they going to figure out in 6 months they couldn't figure out in 3 years?
  8. If you haven't already, you should look at Knights of the Old Republic
  9. Yeah, the 4-1 start was nice but didn't expect it to last. If Cashner and Cobb continue to pitch well, they might be able to be dealt at the deadline to a contender for decent prospects. Thats the best reasonable outcome for this season.
  10. We witness houses being built and garments being weaved, So when we find these things, it is reasonable to assume that someone created them. We haven't witnessed a universe being created. So how could we make distinction between a created universe vs. an uncreated one?
  11. I don't know what the heck happened with Boston's pitching in the offseason, but whatever it was, I'm liking it.
  12. What would a universe look like that didn't require a creator?
  13. He needs to consent to a DFA. I'd be surprised if they haven't already asked and he refused ... I'm wondering now if both sides are playing chicken with his contract
  14. Castro allows the 3 run homer to Voit which probably seals the deal. Bullpen has not looked good at all so far this season.
  15. Fair point. From 2012-2015, Davis was worth about 15 WAR, but was paid only $26m. Recently WAR as been worth about $7-8m in FA. So he provided $8m*15 = $120m worth of value. So far he has been paid $69m of his contract (though some deferred). In 2016 he actually provided 3.3 WAR, or about $26m worth of value. I'll be nice and ignore the last two years which he had negative net WAR which wiped that out 2016. So $120m+$26m =$146m value, for which we have paid him so far $26m+$69m = $95m. $146m-$95m = $50m roughly we should have to pay him in order to be "fair".
  16. I can't see him retiring straight up. Thats an awful lot of money to leave on the table (about $92 million I think), regardless of how much he's already made. A negotiated buyout is a possibility. Or the O's may just cut bait. We're winning now so you can make the argument he would be holding the team back if he continues to start. But I can't read the mind of Elias/the Angeloses. Once Trumbo comes back it may force their hand. Davis has an OPS+ of -34. Yes, negative 34. I didn't even know that was possible.
  17. Castro allows a homerun, but able to close it out. O's win 2-1!
  18. Chris Davis intentionally walked 😆😆😆
  19. This also one of the best arguments for an executive branch that can act outside of legislative chaos. Too bad the UK doesn't have one of those anymore.
  20. No old school manager pulls his pitcher in that situation. If you're looking for a bellwether event that the O's in-game strategy has dramatically changed, this is probably it.
  21. Hess pulled for some reason in the 7th. And he was only at 82 pitches. Maybe Hyde is slave to the pitch count. Dang Araujo walks Smoak, now Blue Jays homer. 6-2.
  22. David Hess with a no hit bid through 4 😲 🙂
  23. Looks like we won't have the opportunity to walk Stanton 7 times next weekend. 10-day DL https://www.mlb.com/yankees/news/giancarlo-stanton-to-injured-list-with-left-biceps-strain
