  1. Hope he gets a real chance. Tired of bringing in other guys to save the day. Guess we will see...
  2. Ha, you WP guys crack me up but as always I do get upset and then post. Then regret it. :p
  3. Just ridiculous in my opinion. Of course, I expect to be banned for having an opposing opinion. Such as life these days under a "china light" regime. But seriously for a moment, it really disturbs me that people are so bent out of shape on ownership as to create a "petition". Is that what you're here for or what I've fanbase has become? I will admit that I wouldn't have changed the name so caving feels like another loss to me. This is just another reason, I feel he should move the team further south. Why keep catering to those opposed to him and apparently live and die based on every decision. Start fresh somewhere else...hopefully near mid-state Virginia... :) or further south (my preference). I live out of the area so maybe I don't understand the contempt for an owner willing to try just about everything to bring a winning team to "Washington". Oh, I get it, you'd rather have a book by RG3...
  4. Sorry to see the ACL injury confirmed. Hope his recovery goes well and he comes back stronger than ever.
  5. Wow, after his latest interview, not really a fan anymore. Pretty much all that is wrong with the sport rolled up in one. I'd rather have players that play for the love of the game and the team is first. "Making money baby" is lol...whatever at this point. We just can't seem to find the right guys for our team. Sad that he is a captain.
  6. Defense looked a little improved but wiped away by 2 huge mistakes. Don't think I've ever seen a hail-mary where the defense didn't try to knock the ball away.
  7. Taylor had a bad day...figures since I just bought one of his t-shirts. He made some plays but didn't see guys that were wide-open on others.
  8. I believe we will start crushing teams soon. Too much talent to not figure it out soon. Our D especially is kind of overrated but I think with the right scheme and players doing their part, we can be good! Hopefully Taylor lights it up also and having Samuels back will help (although I fear it is too soon).
  9. Okay, so reading Ron's comments about our guys just having to win the one on one match-ups makes me nervous. That is exactly what we haven't been able to do for a while now. If that is their philosophy, wowzer. I know they watch the games so what is the deal? We seem to consistently see that our guys don't win the one-on-one match-ups so why do they magically expect them to? Rankings and where they were picked doesn't mean squat but you'd think they don't understand that (although I'm sure they do). Anyway, at this point it feels like it is going to be a long season but really hoping they prove me wrong and soon. I was pretty excited about this season but...
  10. It is kind of funny, he isn't even supposed to be on the team but he is the only one giving me confidence that the season might turn out okay. Scary to think about really, considering... and not at all what I expected this season. Hope he has a great season and puts the QB situation to bed. It is just a little worrisome that everything seems so unsettled at this point (all the way around).
  11. The defense is hard to judge. Like others have mentioned, the statistics are there making them seem good but watching the games I've always felt we were very overrated. This year, more of the same...although...actually worse. I would like to know where their (players and coaches) confidence comes from because watching the games doesn't give me any confidence. They look completely inept and overmatched! But, this has been the case for so many years despite players changing and coordinators changing so what is going on? I don't believe in curses and I don't believe DS is to blame for everything so what is going on? Seriously! With so many first round picks on the front line how can we be so bad against under average offensive lines? I just don't understand it. I might tend to blame the calls / coaching but we've been through multiple coordinators...what the heck!?
  12. He provided a spark! Ryan seemed a little too unsure of what was going on. I was kind of worried about that when multiple people mentioned that in his 17 years he hadn't run across an offense like ours. I think that showed. Also, for all those discounting pre-season, we've looked exactly like we did in pre-season so hope that narrative dies. Sure, it doesn't matter but when your team comes out looking exactly the same it makes you wonder.
  13. Hopefully we see something better Thursday. Today was unbearable.
  14. Very disappointed in general but really disappointed in the defense (or lack there-of). I thought Taylor provided a spark so it'll be interesting to see what happens going forward. Kind of amazing that San Diego had a completely rebuilt offensive line and even after losing their pro-bowler looked much more competent than ours. A little frustrated that our "all-pro" made two very costly penalties. That isn't how you lead by example.
  15. Happy that he got a 100% control. I know I'm in the minority but he is willing to spend and has tried several different approaches trying to win so think he is in it to win. He'll hit the magic formula soon and hopefully already has with Rivera and co. Also, keep the name the same just to rub those opposed to the Redskins name in the....
  16. I was really happy Newton signed with NE as it removes that temptation. Between Winston and Mariota, I think I'd rather have Winston though. He has proven he can throw for a ton of yards if someone can just fix his interceptions. I really think Allen or Heinicke will start the season though. They both know the offense pretty well and it was like night and day when Allen took over (before getting hurt).
  17. Glad we locked up Scherff. We need to keep our best players. Hopefully they sign him to a long term deal that is more team friendly. Also glad (relieved) Cam signed with the Patriots to remove that temptation. I was really worried he'd end up here although I do think it would go better than it did with the Patriots. He probably knows our system already and think that was a major factor for his poor performance in NE...just didn't know the system very well.
  18. I may have posted this already and if so, sorry, but I don't want us to draft Jones if he falls to us. I want a mobile QB even if the risk of being injured is greater. I see how much trouble our D has with mobile Qbs and want the same for us. That seems to be the future. Pocket passers IMO are quickly becoming extinct. They may have better skills in some areas but being able to run seems to add so much to the offense and seems to make it so much harder on the D. Ha, I want one. 😛 Or course you have Brady and Rodgers battling it out for chance for the Superbowl so what do I know lol.
  19. Watching the football team show, it was a little worrisome that the guy from his previous team that they interviewed didn't even seem to really know Mayhew. He seemed to be struggling to find positives to say about him. Hope that it just him though and that his relationship with Ron will be much better. I just don't want this hire to be about show or making history. Hope he is the best for the job. I love his connection to us and hope they'll do more of the same with future hires.
  20. I hope another team gets Watson. He is really good but holding a team hostage is too much of a reminder of Trent Williams here. Once you go down that path, how long until Watson is unhappy with something here and tries to hold us hostage. Would rather have guys that are just interested in playing football and not wanting to play GM. I can understand why he has done this though since their last coach made a bunch of questionable decisions. Anyway, maybe if the Panthers get Watson Teddy will be available or maybe Fitz while we wait to draft the next franchise QB. Don't think one of the good prospects will fall to us at 19. I kind of hope we won't draft Jones though if he is available. He had a great game for the championship but I think these days having a QB that is threat to run opens up a lot more than a QB you know is going to stay in the pocket. Sure the injury risk is higher but watching how much we struggle with mobile QBs has me wanting someone similar. Hoping Allen and Taylor get a shot to compete. Think they deserve it since they seem to have a command of this offense. It'll be interesting to see what direction our new front office and coach goes.
  21. Congrats to the new front office hires. Hope it works out with 3 of them handling the various aspects.
  22. I don't understand why people care about this so much. We did okay this year and didn't even have a GM. It sounds like Rivera was calling Hurney a lot to ask how to do this and that so if Rivera wants to bring him in to help off-load some of his administrative responsibilities, I think it is a good move. I couldn't care less what the guy's title will be or if we have a structure that fits fan's expectations. Ron was hired to run the show so just have to roll with it and see how it goes. I hope Smith stays but if he doesn't, it wasn't like he was making the rounds on the interview circuit this time around. Others (i.e. other teams) must not feel he is ready as well. I mean look at it this way...why is Rivera calling Hurney to ask how to do stuff? If Smith was ready, it seems like that would have been unnecessary.
