I get that, but there's not a lot about our current O-line makeup that would earn the adjective "ideal" at the moment. lol I'm not saying that Ricky should be named as as starting Center atm, just more work with the 1s and 2s. , Of course rookies at either position have a little growing pain at calling protections.Thats why you have TC and pre-season to gain a little experience and see how things progress. IMO it's a MUCH better option than labeling him as a 3rd string but future starter as you still go into the regular season without even knowing if you have a starting LG.

Because it seems that almost all of us need some grounding here: Sam WILL break our hearts a few times this season. It's just what Rookie QBs do. I recall well when this board went nuts for Cousins, and then screamed that he should be benched after a bad pick. Even Cousins demeanor seemed to show self doubt. But with games came growth. I excited and optimistic to watch Sam grow. But he's not superhuman. Prepare for some heartbreak along with the puppy love

90% vs 10% I haven't gone back to see if Armah did well enough in blocking to overcome his ball carrying weakness. Do you remember catching him proving his worth last night? btw, I'm not @you on this, I've got mad respect for you my brother. Just wondering if Armah is the guy and I know that you're a fan of his

Thank you to all for your responses and thoughts. I'm aware that FB is not the position for a gloryhound. Protecting the guy with the ball is 90% of what they do, but that doesn't mean that the other 10% should be dismissed either. And Stats don't show that Armah has much versatility/contribution when asked to produce. Just the ability to "fall forward" when carrying the ball can get you an extra yard or two. And since I haven't watched him play over the past 5 years, Stats are the only way I can judge how well he does the 10%. For the record, I'm old school enough to want to see a FB on this roster. I would just like him to be a good one at both of his jobs. A man can dream can't he?

Like you, I love the thought of having a FB on the roster. Flashbacks of Mike Sellers give me chills. So I took a look at Armahs career and now I'm not so sure. He's bounced around between teams, active rosters, waived, PS and so forth. He's played in 57 games so far. Has 26 carries for a total of 56 yards (add 9 receptions for 30 yards if you want to call him multi purpose) Career total combined for 4 touchdowns. Wouldn't we get equal production from just handing the ball to Jonathan Allen and preserving a roster spot until a more talented FB becomes available?

I think he's already giving us the Dawand Jones treatment: "Really looking to sign with one of those teams that’s in the top echelon. Playoff contention last year, has a chance to make a step this next year. And I can really come in and add value to that team. “Not really looking for a rebuild where I have to come in and mentor a rookie quarterback. [I’m] looking for that team that’s missing a few pieces, needs some depth on the o-line. I know wherever I go, I’m going to end up starting. Offensive linemen don’t grow on trees.” Source: https://www.profootballrumors.com/2023/08/ol-justin-pugh-cleared-for-drills-expected-to-take-visits

You are NOT alone here. I like RR as a person, leader, and man of character. It is difficult not to respect the man, and I think most (if not all) of his detractors do as well. It is hard to root against the man. I'm not as much of a fan of Ron the FO guy and would like to eventually see those responsibilities handed off to someone else. I don't think a coach-centric model works in the long term. But as a Head Coach? Yep, sign me up! But the HC role that I think he needs is one with strong and capable assistant coaches. Perhaps JDR and EB running the day-to-day decisions of their respective squads as Ron oversees the team as a whole. So in the official ES standings, I'd like to see Ron stay on board unless he somehow loses the team (unlikely.) Reduce his responsibilities so he can do the things that he excels at as a leader. We as a fan base, and most certainly on this forum seem to carry a lot of negativity about this organization. We should be dancing in the streets that the scumbag is finally gone. Instead, we focus on our HC making poorly decisions with an open mic.

Color me unimpressed. If the franchise was so vital to Marylands economy, why didn't they at least try to facilitate fan access to the stadium? Buses, Metro extension, gondolas, mules, whatever. Maryland had Fedex locked up for years and ignored it. Now that we have an owner with options they're suddenly important again?
