  1. Sure there is. If NE likes JD more and Wash is sold on Maye. NE might be slightly concerned with Wash taking a crazy trade with another team, so NE offers a 3rd to swap picks with a promise that neither team trades the pick again and honors their word to take the QB they stated. I am not naive enough to think that happens often, but I wonder how much each FO actually trusts each other, with promises and talks behind closed doors. If they feel comfortable with some transparencies with the right person. If so, I think having AP is a major plus.
  2. I don't think Mims could ever fall to #36 and I don't think Yales Kiran Amegadjie will last until the 3rd round. Athletic long arm tackles are just too darn enticing. I'd be tickled pink if we could pick up Kiran with one of our 2nds. (edit: I am not smart, so take what "I think" with a grain of salt)
  3. Most years I would agree with you, BPA works best for the long term when you have a competent roster. However, we ain't competent yet. If AP doesn't see the GLARING need at QB and OT we hired the wrong guy. I'd be very surprised if both spots aren't addressed by pick 36.
  4. Since the Cards signed Jonah Williams last night, is DJ Humphries worth a strong look? I know he might miss some time with that ACL tear, but what little I read seems to point to him as a strong culture guy and perhaps not a wallet buster either.
  5. We already have a QB thread, so jump right into that one and give us your thoughts! As a general rule, try to avoid making new threads when one already exists on the topic. Otherwise, welcome to the board!
  6. I'm right there with you on that. If it is obvious that we have to have a starting quality OT at 36, then other T needy teams may move up and leave us wishing. Draft day is unpredictable and unless you have pick #1 you best not put all of your eggs into one hopeful basket
  7. We don't even have 5 people on the O-line, much less any starters. Same can be said of our LB corps of one, DE, SS, TE. It would be crazy to not go little "crazy" in FA. Similar to having the #2 overall pick, having lots of holes while simultaneously having lots of money is a rare opportunity to get things right. And expecting ANY QB to grow/thrive with a terrible O-line is bad mojo. Get that kid (or Howell/whoever) a stud OT and a damn good OG or 2. The Bruce Allen days of shopping Blue Light Specials need to be over for 2024
  8. All so very true, especially the interview and physically to judge the progress of an athlete recovering from an injury. But it is just one piece of the overall puzzle that I feel is often overrated as a whole.
  9. Wasn't intended as a challenge to your post, I got you were referencing the timing and not necessarily the outcome, I just used your post as a jumping off point since we've already hashed and rehashed the top 4 to death. It's a looooong wait on here until April lol.
  10. ahhh, the Underwear Olympics. I like watching the combine but always wonder how much weight should be given to that weekend vs a season full of tape. If a player is faster than his tape shows, I think it should almost be a flag rather than a plus. Interviews that portray a player as likeable as opposed to how his locker room felt about him. It is a piece of the puzzle, and a great opportunity to watch a player in comparison to others at the same position, check their health and get a glimpse into their persona. But I do wonder how much credit the truly good evaluators place on that weekends numbers. Especially when we hear that player X is flying up the draft boards due to their combine performance.
  11. As a Christmas Tree farmer myself. I wholeheartedly approve this message. The young men (referred to as "Farm Bucks" at my place) bought in to making sure my patrons always left happy. Whether it's helping them select, cutting, hauling, blowing, or tying trees, they learned how to be happy even on the coldest nastiest days. All of them have turned out to be fine young men as well. Now I know why I like you VOR. Thanks for sharing this
  12. Cowherd is either an idiot or selling clicks. I'm a loyalist to a fault, and although I do not want any form of "tank" season to occur, I think winning the division with a 500 record hurts more than it helps. Dropping back 8 draft slots simply because we eeked out the division title only puts us 8 slots further away from premium talent to round out the roster. All I really want to see for 2024 is weekly improvement and cohesion. I have grown tired of hearing every post game presser talk about reviewing the film and improving on something only to see the same flaws grow the following week.
  13. Yeah, it just seems strange. Coach who was a OC in 2023 and interviewed for a few HC openings is coming to a team who already has a freshly filled OC in place. Either he is taking a significant demotion or is gonna be a co-OC. ??
  14. That's not a ringing endorsement of Kingsbury as a OC then. If his skillset is limited to a certain type of player and that dictates the type of talent you have to acquire...then he doesn't sound very innovative or able to coach to each players strengths. We've already danced to that tune. No thanks. If we already had a dual threat QB, then maybe KK would be a fair option. But if we're gonna hire a guy who needs to make his round holes fit the square pegs, I thik we should try to do better. Especially if we have to mortgage the farm kust to justify the coaching hire. Sorry @Voice of Reason You're making me hate this guy as a potential hire
  15. Your jealousy is so easy to see. Not unlike Taylor Swift, It just so Happens that Danny Quinns twin brother Manny Quinn makes appearances in almost every clothing store throughout the country. (And you thought Ted Bradys wife was "popular")
