  1. I almost never defend Rivera or Del Rio, but yesterday was entirely on EB. I'm sure even a dunderhead like Rivera had to be like WTF a couple of times on the sidelines as his QB is getting mauled out there, with no protection. Don't get me wrong, Rivera is the root of all the malpractice on the O-Line, but even he has to be dismayed by EB's play-calling at times. I'm in the minority here that actually agreed with Rivera letting the clock go to zero before halftime yesterday, because he accurately assumed that if we got the ball back, we would either lose yards due to sacks, or we might turn the ball over. I hate being conservative like that with time left before the half, but Rivera was actually doing the right thing and the smart play with letting the clock run out. I wouldn't be surprised if EB had a talking to by either Rivera, Del Rio or both about his abhorrent play calling in the 1st half. It would've been deserved.
  2. No other sport points out how coaching matters more than the NFL. You could have the most talented team in the league, but most Sundays come down to coaching, and how your coaching staff preps your team during the week to put you in the best positions to win. I'm not exaggerating when I say that we might have the worst coaching staff collectively in the NFL. They don't prepare the team adequately, they don't adjust and they don't put the players in the best positions to be successful on a consistent basis. Before the season, you could've said that the Cardinals coaching staff or the Bears coaching staff would be up there as worst staffs in the league, but we've seen the way Arizona competes week in and week out with a talent deficient team. The Bears came here at 0-4 and whopped our asses up and down the field on a short week. There's no question that this team has the worst coaching staff in the NFL. The NFL world is realizing this now, and it's fascinating to watch.
  3. What film are you talking about? How does EB "run circles" around Scott Turner? I want you to specifically list and explain to us how EB runs circles around Turner. In your "tape watching sessions", what have you seen specifically that we're missing when it comes to EB's play-calling and handling of this offense? Except for one game and a few decent quarters, he's done nothing much to establish himself as the solution to our offensive woes but he damn sure has established reasons why he's a liability.
  4. We blame Rivera (rightfully so) for his negligence in addressing the O-Line this offseason, but EB also shares some blame in this too. He saw Wylie up close in KC, and pushed for him to be signed to the team. He also had input in the Nick Gates signing. EB has responsibility in the creation of this horrific O-Line. The more I think about it, EB is turning into one of our worst offseason signings. I know that's early to say, 7 weeks in, but he's been a net negative more that a positive so far.
  5. I'm going to say something that might sound conspiratorial, but I'm not trying a conspiracy theorist here: I think that EB knows damn well that he has no shot at becoming an HC here next year, so he's trying to audition to NFL teams as a first time play caller, regardless of the results that entail here. I think that EB is calling games like he's auditioning for future NFL jobs, and not calling plays to help this team win games. He's been way too stubborn and slow to adjust, to make me believe that he's looking out for our young QB's best interests. How do you explain all the dropbacks with the slow-developing routes, with a historically awful O-Line? Howell is on pace to match David Carr's sack total of 72 sacks by Week 12 or 13. He's not going to survive being hit this many times, yet our pass-happy OC clearly hasn't gotten the memo to call a game where the ball gets out quicker, and to draw up quick hitters, except for that game against the Eagles. EB is calling games like he wants to prove to the world that his scheme works, instead of trying to win games. His scheme might work with a better O-Line and Pat Mahommes, but we have neither. The insistence to dropback so many times is borderline unforgivable.
  6. EB has had one game and 2 quarters of the offense looking like a well-runned machine. Except for that, this offense has looked bad at times, and truly awful in at least 2 games this year (Bills & Giants). I’m not going to say who was a better OC between EB or Scott Turner, but for me EB is turning into a gigantic disappointment the more I see of him. He’s not calling plays to help his young QB out, and his play calling is leading our young QB to be killed time and time again with all these dropbacks. He’s starting to make me realize why KC let him go, and why no team has offered him an HC job, with the amount of times he’s been interviewed. He’s stubborn and late to adjusting. We come out flat on offense WAY too often, and our offense contributes to the holes we dig ourselves in when we get behind. EB is quickly becoming a liability, not an asset.
  7. He wasn’t the only one screaming about this all offseason. I was a broken record at times with regards to my disgust of this coaching staff, the O-Line and the offseason acquisitions. It’s gone exactly to form. Everything we warned about is either happening or has happened. Anyone who wasn’t a gigantic homer could see this coming. I’m only watching these games to see how Howell progresses. I don’t give a damn about the rest of this team (save for a few players) or our results in these games. I know that we’ll be getting our teeth kicked in in most of these games. I just want to see if we have our franchise QB or not.
  8. We’ll have Nantz/Romo for the Thanksgiving game against Dallas. I think we get the top FOX crew for next week’s Eagles game at home.
  9. Yes, it is a throwback to the 80s and early 90s, but we’re getting bottom tier announcers for our games this time. The same crew that called our game last week Vs. the Falcons is also calling our game tomorrow against the Giants.
  10. What's even more incredible, is that we have 3 more games on CBS after this weekend. I think we have 6 games on CBS for the season. I don't mind, but it is a pretty weird quirk.
  11. I don't see that happening, unfortunately. The Cowboys are the Cowboys, and they will still get featured national slots, even against 1 win teams like the Giants. I bet our game might get more evenly split coverage across the country, but the top announcing crew and production teams will still be in Dallas regardless. FOX will be pretty happy to have our game on at the same time as Giants/Cowboys, because it gives them an excellent option to go to, if that game gets out of hand and turns into a blowout.
  12. I've already convinced myself that the Giants will score more than 20 tomorrow. It's what Washington does best, allow teams that have been struggling to have get right games, or create their momentum for the rest of the season by playing us. The Giants haven't scored a TD in 3 GAMES, and they have yet to score an offensive TD in the first half the enrire year. If you take out the game against the Cardinals, they've score a whopping 3 TD's on offense the ENTIRE YEAR. How much do you want to bet that this changes tomorrow against us? I know that most of their O-Line is out, and they will probably be playing a backup QB tomorrow in Tyrod Taylor, but considering Washington's history, it wouldn't shock me in the least if the Giants score over 20 tomorrow, and gain over 350 yards in offense just because.
  13. Exactly. Our MO under Ron is to either win close games or get blown out. Our biggest margin of victory under Rivera was that Thanksgiving game in Dallas back in 2020, when we won 41-16. We haven’t beaten any opponent by more than 20 points since then. Even last year, when we played a truly horrific team like the Texans, we somehow only managed to win the game by 13. We never blow teams out. This team is untrustworthy, and it wouldn’t shock me to see us lose this game. I have us winning in a nail bitter, but I could easily see us sleepwalking into MetLife and losing outright.
  14. I think it will be natural grass. With all the stink about domes with artificial turf and open air stadiums using artificial turf like MetLife, I think the trend will be to use natural grass, even if it's a dome.
  15. I think this is the reason why they did the tour. I would wager that the ownership group will tour So-Fi Stadium, and AT&T Stadium later this season when we play at those venues. We're 100% going to be playing in a dome or a retractable roof stadium someday, so I guess it makes sense to do a deep dive, to see how those stadiums look up close and also think about what features you want to accentuate for our new stadium in the future. Personally, I think the nicest stadiums in the league are So-Fi Stadium and US Bank Stadium (Vikings). I would definitely want the new stadium to be as nice as those venues are. We deserve it after putting up with Fed-Up Field for the last quarter century.
  16. The Eagles had 2 timeouts left, and that interception was thrown after the 2 minute warning. If they hadn't let the Jets score and held them to a FG, they'd probably get the ball back with less than a minute left and no TO's. With the way the Jets D was playing all game long, I kind of agree with letting the Jets score the TD there. You have an extra 40 seconds and two timeouts. It's risky, but I can see why the Eagles coach opted for that scenario. If Hurts wasn't off all game long, it could've worked. I don't know what they were doing on 4th down though. You need 8 yards, and you have a TO, why are you throwing 40 YDS down the field? The execution on that final Eagles drive there made no sense.
  17. I think this game comes down to two players: Daniel Jones & Andrew Thomas. If both are able to play on Sunday, then it's a loss for us. We make Jones look like Steve Young whenever he plays us. I think he owes his large contract to us and the Vikings, since we make him look like a Top 5 QB whenever we play him. The Giants haven't scored a TD in 3 games, which is incredible to comprehend in today's NFL. If Jones & Thomas are available, they will break that streak 100%. If Jones & Thomas are out, I think we can win, because we can stop the run, and force Taylor to throw the ball, similar to how we defended the Falcons. I think Waller will have a pretty good game, since we're allergic to stopping TE's, so it comes down to how we play the run. If we can hold Saquon to under 100, I think we can win a low scoring affair: If Jones & Thomas play: Commanders 17 Giants 27 If both Jones & Thomas are out: Commanders 17 Giants 13
  18. I've always thought Tannehill was mediocre at best. In last year's game against the Titans, he only threw for 136 yards.
  19. Sorry, I respectfully disagree with this. I wanted to go to this game yesterday, but I had a work emergency that prevented me from making the trip. If I had made the trip, I would've been upset that I went, because of the nature of the way in which we won. We're in year 4 of this Rivera regime, yet we only seem to win in heart-pounding, teeth-clenching fashion, or we get blown out. It's getting tiring to only win one kind of way. Playoff teams win those kind of games by 3-4TD's at least. We can NEVER put teams away when we have them by the throats. That offensive game-planning and execution in the 2nd half yesterday was borderline unforgivable. I would've definitely left the stadium yesterday with a sour taste in my mouth after that victory.
  20. My takeaway from yesterday is that if the Falcons had a decent QB, they would've won this game going away. Ridder is HORRIBLE. He had some of the worst turnovers I've seen in a while from a QB. This team was very fortunate to come away with a win, because this would've been a loss 9 times out of 10 against a more talented QB. The offense was below average yesterday, and borderline horrific in the 2nd half. When we got the ball back up 24-10 in the 3rd Quarter, we should've been playing to score more points, not playing to run the clock out. Playing prevent offense prevents your team from winning. We got scared and acted like choking dogs late. I blame EB for that terrible 2nd half. We should've won this game by 3-4 TD's playing a terrible QB like Ridder, but our coaching staff is one of the worst in the NFL, and they truly can't understand the value of playing like the bully, instead of the victim.
  21. It was only a "top 10" defense last year, because of the schedule we faced and the horrible QB's that we played. We played the AFC South with terrible QB's like Davis Mills, Sam Ehlinger, and then we had other terrible QB's we faced like Marcus Mariota, and Ryan Tannehill. We always seem to have inflated defensive rankings against the bad QB's/Teams, but when we play a halfway decent QB or an elite QB, we get trounced. The only example of this not occurring was against the Eagles on MNF. I can't remember the last time we were a legit Top 10 defense that all teams feared. 2020 was like this too, when we won the division at 7-9. We played against 4-5 backup QB's that year, and got destroyed against the legitimate QB's that we faced. This defense is smoke and mirrors until proven otherwise.
  22. I'm the absolute last person to give excuses to coaches, but I think that the loss of Chris Harris was devastating for the secondary. It's clear that Harris was able to get the best out of that secondary last year, and his absence in magnified by the atrocious play in the secondary this season. Apparently, Harris' contract ran out, and we didn't offer him a new deal, until he was practically out the door. That's unacceptable. Harris was also one of the only coaches on the staff that was highly regarded in NFL circles, and is thought to be a young, promising DC going forward. Letting anyone leave, especially when there are almost zero competent coaches on staff is brutal to comprehend. Don't get me wrong, I blame our defensive woes on Del Rio, but I think it's hampered by the fact that we let a really good coach walk out the door for nothing.
  23. Until we get better coaching, I think we'll continue to underperform on the defensive side. I know that we don't have adequate linebackers, but you still shouldn't be giving up 30 PPG as a defense, with the amount of talent and resources we have invested on that side of the ball. This is entirely a coaching issue, in my opinion. I'd love to see a young D-coordinator take over the reigns with this group. I guarantee you that we wouldn't be having issues in getting to the QB, or covering guys. I also think that in today's NFL, you're not going to shut down high-powered offenses. Look at the 49ers, last year they were elite on defense, but the best offensive team they played all year (Chiefs) came into Levi's Stadium and dropped 44 points on them. No NFL defenses are ever going to dominate powerful offensive teams, but you can dominate average to below average offenses. That's where my biggest concern is. I can understand giving up 31 points to the Eagles, or even 37 to the Bills (even though a lot of those points were set up by offensive turnovers). What I can't accept is Denver looking like the '99 Rams against us for a half, or the Bears having their best offensive showing in years against this defense. That simply cannot happen.
  24. It’s probably going to end up happening. We can’t keep trotting him out there and matching him up with #1 WR’s, if he’s outmatched and undersized. He’s a neon green light right now for opposing O-Coordinators and QB’s. He’s going to get benched eventually, it’s just a matter of when. Our D-Coordinator is stupid, so he probably won’t bench him until it’s clearly obvious that he has to for the sake of competing and at the expense of this kid’s psyche. What a horrific pick. Ron and Jack “Dust Up” Del Rio should be banned for football crimes.
  25. There’s no reason to have faith in, or expect the defense to hold any QB they face to respectable numbers going forward. Ridder just had his best day as a pro this past Sunday, going up against Houston, and I think that he will duplicate or exceed that performance against us this coming Sunday. It’s almost comical how Drake London and Kyle Pitts have been ignored in the Atlanta offense so far this year, but I bet you both will destroy this defense on Sunday, and have THEIR best days as pros too. This defense can’t stop anything or anybody. We know what Daniel Jones does to us, so I’m expecting a loss there too. It doesn’t really matter what Howell and the offense can do anymore, when you’re asking your offense to score 30+ or more now every game, just to keep us in games. Unless you’re the Chiefs or the Dolphins, it’s damn near impossible. We’re not going to be favored in any remaining games the rest of the season, and I fear that it will get a whole lot worse. Right now, there’s no team left on our schedule who couldn’t drop 30 on this defense, even the Jets.
