  1. I don't think Norv is on that same level as Ron Rivera and/or Jeff Fisher. Rivera & Fisher both got to SB's and were a couple of plays away from being SB winning coaches. Getting to a SB carries a lot more clout than just being a good coach with some playoff wins. Those SB appearances are literally the reason why Rivera & Fisher lasted so long in their positions, when they would've been fired a long time ago. For the record, I would actually take a younger Norv Turner or someone similar over both Rivera & Fisher, because at the end of the day, offensive minds are more better suited to last as NFL HC's in today's game than in previous years. Norv definitely had his issues, but I would take an offensive coordinator turned HC any day over an NFL DC that turns into a HC.
  2. No, I disagree with this. We held the Bills to 16 points through 3 quarters yesterday. We did as good a job as we possibly could against an all-world QB and a top ranked offense. Allen and Mahommes are in a different stratosphere when it comes to escaping a collapsing pocket and making throws on the run. You're not going to keep guys like that down for very long. The dam burst in the 4th Quarter, and the D couldn't withstand all the punts and turnovers created by the offense. What defense in the NFL is going to overcome 9 sacks and 5 turnovers by an NFL offense? The D gets a pass from me for what happened yesterday. No way the D gets any blame for what happened yesterday. This is all on EB and his crackhead playcalling as well as the O-Line that Ron failed to improve during his tenure.
  3. Yeah, it's going to be tough sledding when facing good teams like the Bills and Eagles. We can probably do okay to well, against teams like the Falcons, Giants and Bears, I shudder to think how we'll fare later this season when we have home games coming up against Miami and San Francisco. It might make yesterday look like a walk in the park.
  4. It has to be option 2. Because if it is option 1, then we hired a damn fool for an OC. Under no circumstances does a normal football coach look at this horrendous O-Line, with a rookie QB, and say to himself, "Yeah, let's pass the ball 70-80% of the time, it gives us the best chance to win!". He should be evaluated for head trauma, if that's his actual stance on the matter.
  5. Those are some shocking stats. I knew that we were passing the ball way too damn much, but not at that level. It's like EB forgot that this team isn't the Chiefs, and we don't have one of the best O-Lines in football. I'm starting to doubt EB now, due to his lack of awareness of what this team is. How can he call so many passing plays, with such a crap O-Line?
  6. Yes, that makes no sense to me. The defense was the least of my concerns yesterday. Through 3 quarters, the Bills only had 1 offensive TD and 16 Pts, 3 of which were gifted by one of our Turnovers. We were doing an excellent job until the 4th Q, when the dam broke. No defense in the NFL can maintain that level of play, when your offense craps the bed after each drive and after every turnover. A 2 score game entering the 4th Q was all anyone could ask for. The defense should be upset at the offense for what transpired yesterday. The scoreboard says 37-3, but Allen only threw for 218 Yds, and 1TD. It wasn't like we were being boat raced by the Bills offense yesterday. They did just enough to win, and capitalized on our many turnovers and excellent field position.
  7. They're going to have to perform better, or next week will be an even bigger bloodbath than yesterday. The Bills don't have the talent on the D-Line that the Eagles do, and the Bills had a historic day yesterday against our offense (9 sacks, 5 takeaways). Jalen Carter and crew are going to be licking their chops at the thought of teeing off on this woeful O-Line next Sunday. EB better look at the film from how this team beat Philly last year, and copy that blueprint. It's literally our only chance for success. This should be a game where we run the ball 40+ times, and Howell doesn't get to 20 passes. I think the Eagles can be run on, but you need to be consistent and patient with it like Turner was last year in that game up in Philly. Sam Howell should NOT have more that 20-25 pass attempts against the Eagles, or he might get sacked 10+ times. This next game is all on EB and Ron, and how they manage to call this game against a ferocious Eagles D-Line.
  8. Yes that's true, although I will say that the Cardinals win is looking s little bit more impressive now after what they've done the last two weeks, almost beating the Giants, and then whopping on the Cowboys yesterday. Cards are going to be a 4-5 win team with the chance to pick #1, that actually looks to be competing each and every week. We're essentially a 7-9 win team, that needs a couple of drafts and FA classes to fix our O-Line and our LB corp. I'm excited that it will be a new regime making these decisions going forward, after Ron and Co. is fired in January.
  9. I made this comparison back in the offseason thread. It's literally eerie how Rivera has become a clone of Jeff Fisher. He got this job off the reputation of being a winning coach with a SB apperance, but that SB was all Cam Newton. Rivera is just living off of 2015 and Cam's unbelievable MVP season. We're the only reason he's still even a HC. He'd be a DC somewhere, or an LB coach if it wasn't for Dan Snyder.
  10. Welcome to the dark side. We’ve all known this for months, but lack of aggression and foresight will be the ultimate downfall of the season.

  12. I think this will be a back and forth affair with the Bills pulling this one out late: Bills 28 Commanders 24 Josh Allen is a beast, and if we get good Josh Allen (like the 2021 game), we’re in big trouble. I think Rain is in the forecast Sunday, so I’ll go with 28-24. It would be higher scoring without the possible rain forecast.
  13. We’re irrelevant. It’s also a game between 2 teams that are offensively challenged and anemic. Not the most exciting game for neutral fans.
  14. I think the NFL is fine, as long as the NFC North and AFC North/East teams still play outside. The league is not missing much if Washington goes from playing outside to playing indoors. We’ve never had really cold conditions like Buffalo, Green Bay or Foxborough, so it’s not that big of a deal in my opinion. We’ll still see plenty of snow and cold games, since those teams playing up north have a reputation of playing in adverse conditions. If Us, the Titans, Jaguars and someday the Panthers end up playing indoors, I don’t think it’s that big of a loss. As a side note, I know a couple of Giants fans and one Jets fan that absolutely HATE MetLife Stadium. In 2021 I was in LA the weekend that the Giants played the Chargers at So-Fi, and there were plenty of Giants fans at my hotel. I was talking with some of them after the game, and all of them were absolutely RAVING about So-Fi, and how luxurious and spacious it was. They started complaining about MetLife, and how much of a dump it was compared to So-Fi, and how their owner dropped the ball in designing MetLife, and how much of an eyesore it was. Giants fans hate that place, and were extremely jealous that of So-Fi that day.
  15. DC also rains quite a bit. Having a retractable roof/dome also protects fans, so that they get the best experience possible. As far as capacity goes, Fed-Ex opened with a capacity of 86K, that grew to 91K before the late 2000s. That’s way too much, but I think that 70K is fair. The current capacity now is 65K. You’re only adding about 5K additional seats. That’s not too dramatic of a change. Especially if the team ever turns it around and starts winning. Then you’ll see a huge demand for season tickets, and more seats on game day. 70K on the button would get us considered for a SB once we have a new stadium.
  16. New stadiums add significant revenue to teams now. The Rams are now a top 5 valued team after moving from St. Louis, and then building that crown jewel So-Fi Stadium. It’s the nicest stadium I’ve ever been to. I went to a concert there earlier this year, and was so jealous that a stadium was that nice and lovely. I’m going there in December for the Commanders-Rams game. I’m not stepping foot at Fed-Ex ever again after experiencing So-Fi, taking a tour of the Vikings Stadium, and watching an event at Atlanta’s new stadium last year. It’s literally a different universe when comparing those stadiums to the current dump we play in. We deserve something nice like those stadiums, after the crap we’ve lived with for the past quarter century.
  17. Snyder’s last model did have a roof as of 2021: https://frontofficesports.com/commanders-3b-plan-includes-color-changing-stadium/ If you look at the conception, it has a roof like Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The point is that new stadiums being built across the NFL are strictly geared towards retractable roofs/domes (Except Buffalo, because they would never get a SB due to being a small city in a cold environment with an inadequate number of hotels). You’re NOT getting a SB with an open air stadium anywhere north of Atlanta anymore. The SB at MetLife will NEVER happen again. That SB went off without a hitch, but that game ended about 6 hours before a blizzard hit the NYC area the next morning. Even the Bears have new stadium rendering, where they would put a dome over the current Soldier Field, after major renovations, or they might move the team outside the city and build a retractable roof/dome stadium in suburban Arlington Heights: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcchicago.com/investigations/what-the-chicago-bears-can-learn-about-arlington-heights-from-sofi-stadium/3019502/%3famp=1 Nashville, Jacksonville are also getting new stadiums by 2026. Both are getting retractable roof/dome stadiums. We’re next in line after that.
  18. We’re a major market with hands down the worst stadium in the NFL. It’s an embarrassment we play in such a dump. If you renovate RFK, you need to tear it completely down, and build it to fit the modern day aesthetics of what an NFL stadium should be. You would also need to have a retractable roof or a dome, so that you can get big time events here like a SB, Final Four, Major Concerts, etc. Just renovating RFK isn’t enough. I guarantee you the new owners didn’t buy this team just to “renovate RFK”. It isn’t even their land yet. There’s still a chance that they can’t agree to get the land at RFK, but it’s also possible they could get a parcel of land in some other section of DC, like the area across the Anacostia River from Nats Park. The new stadium will be at least 70K (because that’s the requirement capacity to be awarded a Super Bowl), and it will be retractable roof/dome. Those are absolute must haves. Something like US Bank Stadium (Vikings), or So-Fi Stadium.
  19. If we win, then 2-0 is a great position to be in. I’m going into this assuming that we’ll struggle on offense, but ball out on defense. This is the kind of game we can win 20-16 or 19-14. I don’t think both teams will combine to get 40 in this game.
  20. It goes with the territory. If it weren’t for the Giants getting skunked at home on SNF, and the Bengals serving up a dud in Cleveland by only scoring 3 points, we might have been the most disappointing team on paper last Sunday. We couldn’t cover versus the consensus worst team in the league AT HOME, and we were trailing them heading into the 4th Q. We deserve to be doubted until otherwise stated. If the Giants destroy the Cardinals on the road this Sunday, and we barely squeak by or lose to the offensively challenged Broncos, we’re going to be in big trouble going forward unfortunately.
  21. We don't care, as long as the team wins. If Rivera is able to get this team to 10+ wins and the playoffs, by all means keep him around. What people are pissed at Ron about (and justifiably so), is his lack of aggressive moves in the offseason. If you know that you need to improve the O-Line, and you sit on your hands and do essentially nothing, then you're not helping the team get better. Look at the Eagles & their front office. They're one of the more aggressive FO's in the league, and it pays off for them in dividends, because they have a mindset of improving any area of the team that needs upgrading. They don't sit on their hands like this FO, and wait for deals to come to them. Look at our RB situation now. If you're telling me you could have a top tier running back for only the cost of a 4th rounder, you wouldn't be running to the phone to get a deal done? Ron's lack of aggression and his misguided mindset when it comes to value, will be his ultimate undoing here in Washington.
  22. I've said this before, and I'll say it again: It's better to keep your mouth shut and your answers brief, then to open your mouth and remove all doubt of your stupidity. He should just answer these questions from the media in yes/no mode for the rest of the season, or however long he is still the HC of this team. He still has time to lock himself in a room when he's not game-planning to watch some Bill Belichick press conferences, and mimic that going forward.
  23. It definitely makes sense from a value standpoint to trade Brissett to the Jets, and get back a 3rd or a 4th for him. It would be the smart thing to do, but the problem with this is that if you trade Howell, you're effectively waving the white flag on the season. If we just have Howell & Fromm, and nothing else, what happens if Howell gets hurt behind this porous O-Line? Is Ron really prepared to risk the entire season (and his career) should he trade his only insurance policy Brissett? Ron is under the gun big time to deliver results, so not having an adequate backup, should Howell get hurt, would significantly worsen his already slim chances of surviving past this year.
  24. I think this will be a low scoring slopfest. Denver didn't impress much at all on offense last week, and their defense let Jimmy G run for the late 3rd down conversion to get the 1st down and secure the Raiders win. Washington's offense also didn't impress much last week, and the same questions we had about the O-Line in the offseason continue to persist now into the regular season. Since both these teams are lacking on the offensive side of the ball, I'm going with the team that has the better defense, and luckily that's Washington. Both teams will struggle to score on offense, but I think the Washington Defense gets the job done and forces a turnover for a score that will ultimately make the difference in this contest: Washington 20 Denver 16
  25. I’m very pleased with the defense after yesterday’s performance. They single-handedly turned a possible embarrassing loss into a win with that effort in the 2nd half. I’m more worried about the offense, and in particular the offensive line. EB was erratic yesterday with his play calling, and I think he had a rough day at the office, calling so many passing plays for Howell. At one point in the game, the pass to run ratio was 4-1. It can’t be that lopsided for a young QB making his 2nd career start, with a horrific offensive line. That’s a fast way to get your young QB killed early on in the season. I’m not going to go into detail about how horrifically awful the O-Line was yesterday, since I’ve been harping on about it non-stop since the draft back in April. 6 sacks from the Cardinals D should put the fear of God into any fan going forward, in anticipation of what’s to come when they play the Eagles in a few weeks, and then later in the season when they play the Cowboys. We don’t have a prayer of winning those games, unless we dramatically re-shape the O-Line, or the play calling improves going forward.
