  1. The best way to calculate WAR is factoring in total points versus wins. For example, if Wentz or Heinecke started games, and they scored less than 20 points in their starts, you would factor in what that would translate to versus wins. The more points you're responsible for, the more that victories would be credited to you. Let's use Mahommes as an example, since he's at the top of the WAR chart. The Chiefs won 14 games, and in the games that Mahommes started, he was responsible for getting them to average 31 PPG during the season. This website below breaks down how they calculate WAR for QB's: https://www.sportsinfosolutions.com/2021/05/04/a-primer-for-siss-nfl-wins-above-replacement-war-metric/ I couldn't link PFF's writing on how they calculate WAR, but it's similar. Basically, if you're not putting up points that lead to wins, you're WAR is going to be lower than someone who is. Wentz & Heinicke were almost negligible in the way that their stats and points lead to no real wins. They were just passengers for a great defense this year. Literally anyone who was even marginally better than both those QB's would've netted us 2 extra wins or more. That's why we have the worst QB situation in the league. All we need is an average QB to get to 10+ wins and win a playoff game or two.
  2. Take a look at this chart. Keep in mind that the same people are in charge of handling FO decisions for at leat one more year: It's amazing how horrific Ron Rivera & the FO are at making decisions related to the QB position. I'm really tempted to bump that Fire Ron thread just to reiterate how awful our QB evaluating process is here. The fact we won 8 games with two QB's who are dead last in WAR, QBR and PFF analytics is an amazing indictment on our offense, and a clear sign that the defense definitely played up to expectations this year..
  3. Except for the part where he's owned this team since being drafted by NYG. He owned us, when the Giants were a tire fire before Daboll. Now that they have a great offensive minded coach, and a top flight GM, Jones will continue to own us as long as he's with the Giants.
  4. I don’t mean to put this team down, but they make it really easy. It sucks seeing teams that were worse than us for years suddenly catch up to and pass us with ease. All the Giants did was hire a new offensive minded coach and a GM from a winning team, and they did in one season what we couldn’t do the last 17 seasons, which is won one freaking playoff game. It seems so simple, but for this team, doing the simple things seems like an impossible task. We seem to always stay right in that mediocre sweet spot of 7-9 wins year after year, while every other team is able to have one 11 win season and play for conference championships. Did you know that if the Cowboys win tonight against the 49ers, that will leave just 3 teams in the entire NFL without a Conference Championship appearance since our last Superbowl. Guess which team is amongst those 3? If you just narrow it down to the NFC, barring a Cowboys win tonight it’ll just be 2, (Us and the Lions). What a pathetic franchise we’ve become. I can’t wait until March, when we hopefully have a new owner, and start anew. No other franchise deserves it more.
  5. 2 things: First of all, it's a terrible reflection on this team that they could only tie in the first game in NY, then gag like chocking dogs at home in primetime to a less talented team. Those calls in the pic don't matter. We got some bad calls, so what? There are bad calls in games all throughout the NFL on a weekly basis. The real story in that game is failing to score more than 12 points at home in a primetime game after a bye AND having faced said team two weeks before, with two weeks to prepare. They get no sympathy for how that game turned out. By the way, even IF they got that TD and scored the two point conversion to tie that game, there's no guarantee that they woud've won that game. Second of all, we STILL lost to Cleveland with the playoffs on the line. We had ANOTHER chance to win a game at home against a lesser talented team and gagged AGAIN. We didn't deserve the playoffs, and going 0-3-1 in December & January proves that point. Winning that meaningless Cowboys game in the finale doesn't count. The Giants are a lesser talented team then Washington, but their future looks brighter than ours clearly. They have an outstanding coach, a very smart GM/front office AND they have about $60 Million of cap space to play with in the offseason. The Daniel Jones issue will be resolved in the offseason, but even if they sign him to a contract, we haven't beaten this dude when it matters, and they'll improve their offense with that extra cap space. We now have the worst coach in the division by far AND no QB. We're back to being bottom dwellers in the NFCE. Hopefully our new owner will clean house in 2023 and get this team back to relevancy.
  6. This is an interesting conversation, and this offseason will definitely be a big one for this team’s future going forward. The logical thing to do this offseason is roll with Howell and draft/sign O-Line to improve that unit. However, Rivera is essentially a lame duck coach with one year left to prove to the new owner that he deserves to stay as a HC. A coach in his last year will be desperate, and try to make any move he can to guarantee himself a shot at the playoffs next season. I think Rivera is desperate, and since he has FO responsibilities along with being the HC, he’s going to swing for the fences to get a vet QB, because he feels like he has no better options at the moment. He’s not going to pin his hopes on a 5th Round QB, who only played one game. I think we’ll offer the moon to Derek Carr, and/or Tom Brady. It’s desperation time for Rivera, and he wants to do whatever he can to get this team to the playoffs next year. He’s not concerned about setting this team back if he’s not going to be here. If he has to offer a big time haul for Carr, he’s going to do that. If Carr is cut, I can see Rivera giving Carr a huge contract to sign here. He has to pull all the stops to get that Vet QB.
  7. I don’t think you have to worry about watching both games by 5PM EST. The Cowboys will most likely have a 3-4 touchdown lead before 5PM, and you can enjoy watching the Caps game solely in peace LOL. There’s literally no reason to watch this game, other than Howell, so the competitive part of the game will be over long before the Caps game.
  8. I should add that the Jets will be the team that gets tied to every FA QB this offseason. They will be the team that gets media hype once they sign either Carr of Jimmy G. The Jets have a roster that will attract any FA QB from Brady to Carr to Jimmy G. After the Jets, I see Miami being a desirable location, if Tua doesn't pan out. Rumor is that Brady was headed there after the 2019 season before he ended up in Tampa Bay.
  9. The problem with that is we're going to be picking from the scrap heap during free agency. No viable, decent QB will want to come here. The ownership question might be resolved around the time FA begins, but the stink of this organization, and our spending ability will result in better QB's considering teams other than WSH. I would be shocked if Carr or Jimmy G. even gave this FO the time of day to do an interview. They both might laugh and hang up the phone when we come calling. I forgot that Brady will also be an FA this offseason, and he's going to be highly coveted too. I see us getting either Mayfield or Brissett, and having Howell as a backup behind either. If we get Mayfield, we should consider ourselves lucky. Mayfield might be the only QB available in FA that can get Ron a wildcard spot next year. He'll probably come in at a reasonable price too. It would allow us to resign Payne.
  10. Yes, definitely. Until we have “the guy” at QB, we’re just twisting in the wind.
  11. We have two options next year, roll with Sam Howell, or draft a QB in the 1st round. Rolling with Howell is risky for Ron and Co., since they would theoretically have one year left to prove to the new ownership group that they are worthy of being extended. The issue for Ron, is that he needs a playoff appearance minimum to convince the new regime, and it’s a tall order leaning on your 5th Round QB to get you there. Ron’s other option is to swing big in the draft, and trade up for a franchise QB. If we lose this Sunday, there’s a chance we could end up picking as high as 10th in the upcoming draft. At 10th, it makes it easier to make a move to Pick 2, if you’re willing to part with draft capital. The issue with that though, is that we don’t want Ron wasting future draft capital to save himself from being fired at the end of next year, and potentially screwing over the new regime with a lack of draft capital going forward. We’re in a tough spot, because we need to hope that Ron doesn’t damage the future of the team going forward to save himself, but we also don’t want to go into next year with no shot at making the playoffs, and ending up in that 6-9 win territory we seem to be stuck in.
  12. Jimmy G didn’t want to come here last year via trade, and opted to get surgery to avoid being traded, which spooked teams from giving up a high draft pick for him. Carr, if he’s smart would consider better options out there than the Commanders. If it’s between us and the Jets, Carr will pick the Jets in a New York minute (pun intended). After those two QB’s, you’re left with the rest of the other options, including Brissett. We might not have a choice but to sign Brissett if/when all the better other options turn us down.
  13. The NFL just announced the full schedule for Week 18. Our game is at 4:25. Expect it to be the feature game, since it means everything to the Cowboys with the #1 seed & NFCE title on the line. Most of the country will get to see us embarrassed at home in front of 80% Cowboys fans, in what will be Dan Snyder’s last game as owner. Can’t think of anything better to hate-watch.
  14. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Ron is the biggest loser from yesterday. Not Carson, not Scott Turner. It’s Ron. He looks like such an idiot, and is now a national punchline for multiple reasons. I thought that he’d get skewered for unnecessarily switching QB’s in a playoff race, but his unbelievably stupid expression at being possibly eliminated from the playoffs when asked at the press conference takes the cake. He needs to go. He’s an embarrassment now. It took 3 years, but now he has his Jim Zorn/Steve Spurrier moment. Stay here long enough, and your reputation will rot almost certainly.
  15. Ron is now a national joke for his decision to go back to Wentz. Nearly all of the national media are mystified and incredulous that he would make this move with the season on the line. Here locally, there is an understanding of why Rivera did what he did, but the results couldn’t have gone more disastrous. Ron had handled this whole situation about as poorly and amateurish as you could possibly handle this as a head coach. He deserves to be fired for the trade, it’s aftermath and his handling of the O-Line. JP Finlay said it best today during the postgame show, where he listed all of the O-Line players that have departed the last few years (Trent Williams, Scherff, Morgan Moses, Ty Nsheke, etc). Our line single-handedly torpedoed our season. NO QB would work behind this line, and the tepid, anemic and moronic play calling of Scott Turner. I have no idea what will happen once the season ends after next Sunday, but there needs to be a serious discussion of stripping Ron of his FO responsibilities, and his offensive staff needs to go. I would love for Ron himself to be fired, but it’s unlikely due to the pending sale of the team. But the team needs to take FO duties from Ron and fire Scott Turner at the very minimum.
  16. Sorry, I don’t think you’ll see much different than what we saw the first 6 weeks. Our line is still awful, and Wentz is still an immobile statue behind center. The only way he can look better than he did earlier in the season is if he can get rid of the ball quickly. I was a bit encouraged to see some of that late in the 49ers game. Getting the ball out quickly will help him to avoid sacks. My hope is that we continue to be run heavy these last two games. The upcoming Browns game allows us to up our rushing attempts, similar to the Eagles & Falcons games. If Wentz throws the ball less than 25 times, and we rush for 150+ and own the TOP, we should be able to win. That’s going to have to be the formula going forward. You can’t ask Wentz or Heinecke to throw the ball more than 30-35 times a game, and expect to win. Both QB’s will lose you games without a balanced offensive gameplan. Our only way to win is ball control, running the football and playing strong defense.
  17. That’s a good point. I just think the Cowboys are a nightmare matchup for our depleted O-Line and statue QB Carson Wentz. The Cowboys also have one of the better offenses in the NFL, so we would have to hold them to 21 PTS or less in order to have a chance, but they score with such ease that it would take a super-human effort on the defensive side of the ball to keep the game from being a rout. They’re the LAST team I’d want to play at full strength, with the season on the line. So yes, for one week I’d be rooting like crazy for them to be sitting their starters, so that we have a better chance at entering the dance. Now, the playoffs are a different story. If we have to face them if we win a game or two in the playoffs (if we can even get there), then I’d be singing a different tune.
  18. Sorry, I don’t give a damn about style points. If an opponent’s at full strength, then whatever, but if they’re not, I’m not going to be broken up over it. I don’t give a crap how we win, as long as we WIN. They don’t give extra credit for beating teams at full strength. If we beat their backups, I’m going to cheer just as hard as if we beat their starters at full strength. If it makes our path a little easier, then all the better.
  19. Why? At full strength they would wipe the floor with us. I'm glad they're banged up. I don't give a damn how we get into the playoffs, just as long as we get there, that's fine with me. Dallas is the WORST matchup in the NFC for us after SF. I'm rooting hard for an Eagles win on Sunday against the Saints. That would mean that Dallas would rest most of their starters, especially the starters that are banged up. Apparently, Dak hyper-extended his knee last night, so it would be great if he could get some rest next week if Philly clinches the NFCE and the #1 seed. I'm not upset at rooting for opposing starters to be out, in order to benefit from that. We want to face the Vikings in the playoffs, so I'm going to root like hell for MIN to get that #2 seed. Don't want a rematch with SF, with Deebo Samuel returning. I'm always for the path of LEAST resistance. I would love a TB Vs. WSH NFC Championship game. That would mean that the elite teams are gone, and we would have a shot at the Super Bowl.
  20. I think the Browns players are tired of Stefanski, and they're annoyed at the fact that they're throwing the ball a lot, when they have a top 2 running back in Nick Chubb, who they don't utilize nearly enough. If we go up 10 or 14 in the first quarter, they're going to fold, and check out. I think the Cowboys will definitely rest some of their starters in Week 18, since they're locked into the 5th seed. If they lose tonight, or Philly wins their game on Sunday against NO, the Cowboys will have nothing to play for. It would be smart of them to rest guys who need some rest, and get them ready for Tampa Bay. They might play some of their starters for a quarter or a half, and then shut them down. Pay attention to tonight's game. Any starter who gets banged up, likely won't play in Week 18. Why risk more injury in a meaningless game next week
  21. Don't count on it. I would hope that fans are smarter than that, seeing that there is a possibility that the Browns will give up and quit if they're down on Sunday since they're eliminated. The Cowboys will most likely be resting a lot of their starters in Week 18, once the Eagles clinch the NFCE and the #1 seed. I would like to think that fans wouldn't get hyped for beating two teams that they should beat, both resting starters, but stranger things have happened. Once we get beaten to a pulp by Minnesota or San Francisco in the playoffs, and reality sets in about the team's QB situation going forward, any hopium will have worn off and subsided at that point.
  22. Well, I hope for the best, but I'm preparing for the worst. It's not like Wentz will be significantly better than Heinecke, but he has the arm strength to get the ball down the field to our receivers. The Browns are a good opponent to see if Wentz has learned anything since he last started. We get to see if Wentz is in the team's long term plans if he does win, but if Wentz falls flat on his face with a chance to get his team to the playoffs like last year with the Colts, it makes the decision easy for us to cut him. It also opens up the opportunity for the new ownership regime to fire Ron & Co. once they settle in. I bet the teams that are on the wild card bubble like the Packers, Seahawks & Lions are celebrating the QB change this morning. We'll see if Wentz gives them something to cheer about if he falters these last two games.
  23. How? Our O-Line has been awful the last few games, and you saw what Wentz looked like with that exact same line. He probably gets sacked MORE than Heinecke, now that he's behind center again. The ONLY positive with Wentz being under center, is that he can give this offense a boost in the arm if he has time to throw downfield. Our vertical passing game becomes a threat again. BUT, Wentz still sucks when it comes to recognizing pressure, taking unnecessary sacks, forcing throws down the field that become INT's and he doesn't throw to the checkdown when it's right there. He still has the same crappy mechanics, and is prone to throwing off his back foot, which is not a recipe for success in becoming a successful QB. Unless he's unlearned all of those traits since Week 6, I'm not sure why you would expect the result to be any different this time around.
  24. If we made the switch sooner, we most likely would've been in the same spot we're in now. There's no guarantee that our 0-2-1 record the last month would be different with Wentz. I agree with the switch to Wentz, since we need a spark to generate offense, but lets pump the brakes on thinking Wentz would've definitely won us the Giants or 49ers games as a starter. It's clear as day that we don't have a viable NFL QB on the roster, and that we have to start over AGAIN after this season. Heinecke has been really bad the last month, so I have no issue whatsoever playing Wentz, to try to score some points, but let's be real with ourselves for a second. Wentz could just as easily crap the bed against the Browns & Cowboys, which would be ironic considering we need to win our last two games to get into the playoffs, just like the Colts needed to win their last two games last year to get into the playoffs. Maybe history repeats itself again.
  25. LOL, this is patently false. Wentz would've lost us this game yesterday by getting sacked 8-9 times. Heinicke was lucky to be mobile enough to only have been sacked 4 times. Wentz would've been sacked on that first TD pass to McLaurin, and he would've gagged if he needed to get us a TD on a 90 YD drive with 2 minutes left. Wentz cannot do the basic things that TH can do to win you games, so that's why he's benched. This is NOT an endorsement of Heinicke though. I realize he's limited in what he can do as far as arm strength and accuracy goes, but he does the little things that Wentz hasn't learned to do in 6 years as a QB. We need a new QB in the offseason. Until then, TH is our best option.
