If the value we got for him is equivalent to a 7th round pick how did the Broncos get outbid? There aren’t any 8th round picks anymore … Late 3rd early 4th seems more likely what we got in exchange for Sam.

You don’t draft for the player who will have the best rookie year, you draft for the player you believe will have the best career. Especially at the QB spot better to draft a guy who, if he realizes his potential, can help make you a perennial contender and win a Super Bowl or two - than a guy who maybe give you a chance to win more games his rookie year.

I wouldn't want Forbes having to be the last guy trying to tackle a 250lb TE after the catch or a 215lb running back in stride in space. He's a corner - he needs to earn his playing time there or be shipped out. He does have talent, if the coaching staff can get him in positions to make plays he can help us.

If we are going to be primarily a man coverage team they need to try to trade Forbes now for a bag of used footballs. He is essentially a zone corner - though he can play off man.

I played QB. I was not very fast - when they timed my 40 they used a sun dial. In games however I was a very effective scrambler and could run away from and around linebackers and even elude DBs. I had "game speed". I rarely took big hits while running. This calculation explains why I got faster and very aware of who was around me when large unreasonably angry humans were chasing me with ill intent.

This is why we have signed at least two free agents who are primarily special teams specialists. Your return and return coverage teams matter again.

He's replacement level at best IMO. Part of his issue is hes so inconsistent - he looks OK for stretches and then suddenly either has a brain fart and blows an assignment or just whiffs. You might be right - and it certainly seems he is at least penciled in at RT at the moment. There is a lot of ground to cover through the draft and free agency leading into OTAs and Camp and then cuts. My feeling is there is a good chance neither opening day starter is currently on the roster.

I am not high on McCarthy - I dont think he has the ceiling of Maye or Daniels. I'm not sure I would take him first round period (but I am an outlier on that I suspect). But lets keep this serious, he absolutely has an NFL arm and throws a good ball.

I think he kind of said they are locked in a taking a QB (to the surprise of literally no one). I think what is being said here is they just have not made the final decision on which one yet. We almost have to come out of the 2nd round with a starting OT - I'd hate to do it but I could understand us packaging the two 2nd round picks and some change t get back into the second half of the first round if an OT we like is there or if there is a run on OTs and we fear missing out. Right now I would say both opening day starting OTs are not on the roster.

I can absolutely see us taking a developmental type QB late in the draft with the idea of him becoming the backup in the future. Mariota is likely a one year rental and Fromm does not belong on an NFL roster.

Not sure if you are being serious here but zero chance that happens. Your best ability is your availability - you need those guys healthy and fresh coming into the grind of a 17 game season.
