  1. He’s played really well - but only when the Ravens brought in Roquan Smith next to him. Davis is a solid starting backer, but he’s not in the same conversation as Smith. I would like the signing but how he plays when he’s the alpha among the backers remains to be seen.
  2. Johnny Wilson is someone I’d love us to take a swing on. He can play outside or big slot. He could run some TE type routes from a tight split as well (I don’t think he’s going to bulk up and turn into a H-back type though, he way too athletic for that).
  3. Fields is worth more than that and I think they will get offered more than that. Not sure exactly what - but Fields has shown a lot more overall potential (and production) than Jones over the last two seasons. Thing with Fields though is his running ability is a key part of the package. He’s not shown he can consistently produce just based on his arm.
  4. The definition for what position a player is tagged at was negotiated as part of the CBA. Teams don’t get to pick or choose - it’s the position at which a player took most snaps in the previous season. If Parsons has an issue with how he’s defined he should take it up with the NFPA because they agreed to the approach (which is entirely reasonable IMO).
  5. Eagles have $14M of dead cap on Cox’s contract to deal with. Jason Kelce has $25M of dead cap. Kicking the can down the road will bounce back in your face if you kick it into a wall.
  6. I speak on behalf of all MODs when I say I appreciate the vote of confidence! You can get a guy who gives you what Swift gives you in the 4th round on a rookie deal. Teams just don’t want to give backs that second contract at much more than vet min. It will be interesting to see what market Barkley has.
  7. Assuming Kingsbury runs some version of air raid Howell does know the system. He’s got starting experience and has shown an ability to play at this level. So Howell knows the playbook and can help a rookie find his feet - especially if it’s not Maye who also knows the system. I can see the argument for a true vet - but if your backup knows the system (and so doesn’t need that many reps while a rookie beds in, can come in and give you a chance if he has to start AND is cheap … that’s about all you can ask from your backup.
  8. Sam Howell. We might sign a vet but given Howells worked in the system Kingsbury (we assume) will run and has a year of starting under his belt he is a good backup option on a rookie deal.
  9. Thats a good call actually. If it comes to a choice his wife is going to want NY WAY more than Pittsburgh. It does sound like though it was just a quick 'check in' type meeting with NY. The Steelers seem to have much stronger interest and a roster that could compete. The Giants meanwhile are something of a mess (and have a horrible O'line).
  10. One thing I will say about Mayes footwork is he tends to drift to his right in his drop. That needs to be fixed, he creates his own pressure by drifting towards the rush on occasions. That will piss off his O’Line who are expecting him to be setting up behind the center not off the right guards outside shoulder.
