  1. apparently "Hey guys at least he is not a complete idiot" is the bar we set for a Skins HC these days ... sad. its great tv to watch him consistently stick his foot in his mouth, without the self realization to understand how it sounds to everyone else... then clumsily tries to explain away what he really meant. Then rinse, repeat a few days later. "The English idiot originally meant “ignorant person,” but the more usual reference now is to a person who lacks basic intelligence or common sense rather than education." This definition seems to fit well.
  2. Anyone else think its ridiculous that teams can just full on tank (Cards for Caleb) without even trying to hide it in todays NFL and NFL doesn't do **** about it?! I know, i know.. no guarantees he will be great in the NFL and it can easily backfire ala Luck with Colts... but still.
  3. Browns just cut Wes Martin.. reality is all this worry over bottom of the roster players that never played a down in the NFL is premature.. Vast majority of the players we want to get to the practice squad will get there.. including Fromm.
  4. Why not? You’re missing the point. We can still trade 3 1sts to move up in the top 5 and nab “that” guy. In the mean time we’re not trading valuable pics and giving 10s of millions to used tampon qbs like wentz and Fitzpatrick or paying too if the market money to above avg starters like Cousins.
  5. Realistically in this league you need a top ~8qb to consistently compete for the championship. (Unless you’re 49ers) This team is good enough to consistently finish 8-8 with or without a qb. So if Howell doesn’t have the makings of a top 8qb, they should be looking to upgrade. Otherwise you’re in the Cousins category “pretty good but not good enough “.
  6. Realistically chances are much higher that he ends up just that... again, still a huge win and yet should be pretty easy for the org to understand that it still needs a starter QB. Ultimately we all hope we have hit the jackpot of-course.. and we are due just from sheer luck perspective, but i have little faith in this FOs ability in finding a franchise qb. While Howell has looked good in preseason against mostly backups... the enthusiasm on this board is over the top.
  7. I find it funny that people compare Howell to Baker Mayfield and say "oh no, i hope he is not the next Baker!" If Howell is the next Baker thats a huge win for the Org. Mayfield is a bottom 3rd of the league starting QB. If our 5th rd pick turns in to top end backup/ border-line starter at less than 1mil a year... the savings can be used to shore up other areas and to bring along a rookie high end pick (if howell does not work out) slowly.
  8. While i thought Howell played well... he was getting significant time behind this Oline playing against Balt 3rd string D.. like a lot. No way he will have that much time against 1st string Ds.. needs to get rid of the ball faster.
  9. Fromm was dealing last night! He looked pretty damn good. His receivers didnt help him much, but i was impressed overall.
  10. It'll be a great match for our O line.. they use the bend but not block technique... really.. they are ahead of our time in blocking.
  11. I think it will be Quan Martin, the 5th safety we took in the 2nd round (even though we had 4 really good ones) while in one of the deepest TE classes in recent history. Because according to riverboat... its all about position flex!
  12. Ha.... no one in their right mind would trade a 2nd for Chase... thats a joke right? Rumor was a team offered a 4th rd pick this last off-season.. that offer now probably dropped to a conditional 7th rounder.
  13. "The analytics provided by the NFL have shown that the injury rate for teams decreases in the first five weeks of the regular season. " https://www.commanders.com/news/training-camp-notebook-day-14-commanders-prepare-for-joint-practices-with-baltim
  14. I am wandering if its possible to trade Mathis for a OL since we have a logjam at DT. Young trade is also still an option... i hope.
  15. Howell is going to have a hard time staying upright with this joke of an O-line.. cant wait for all the Rivera appologist excuses after we get spanked by AZ week one.
  16. And the team still couldn’t win more than 8 games. At this point odds are we can stumble in to a good season by accident. We’re due
  17. If you stand in front of me at waist level.. you'll get some good drips out of me.
  18. Rivera is a nice guy but not a good coach.. he is pretty much bottom of the barrel. I don't even consider him a coach.. he is not an Xs and Os guy.. he is more of a facilitator who lets all the coaches under him make decisions. Probably a pretty good trait for a coach and a boss, but in football he is so hands off that it takes him way too long to understand that things aren't working. So then you say.. well no, Ron is more of a GM - yet he fails horribly as a GM as well. Poor hires.. brought it the same Carolina staff that failed miserably there, just to 'surprise, surprise' fail again here. Poor drafting and FAs have been nothing special. He is about as unimaginative, old school, half brained, meat head coach you can ask for. Him getting fired can't come soon enough! I Hope Harris can see that sooner than later.
  19. Waller has always been a matchup nightmare for any db... the problem is you only have him for a 3rd of a season
  20. Agreed ... horrible O line and a year removed from being shot... he should be better even in 23
  21. Rotoworld did a Washington breakdown for 23, good read https://www.nbcsports.com/fantasy/football/news/2023-washington-commanders-fantasy-preview
  22. I believe the end will justify the process... end being cleaning house on the coaching staff and starting with a real HC and a real GM next year.
