  1. When do we shut down in certain places again? I thought it would never happen but might have to at this rate.
  2. Remember Abbot saying the older folks would be fine sacrificing themselves for the good of economy and the younger folks Of course things are terrible in Texas with that kind of "leadership."
  3. It's worse than I thought it would be and I was pretty damn pessimistic. Hopefully some treatments will be around by fall that can keep people who get the virus from getting really sick/having to be put on ventilators.
  4. Infuriating and embarrassing. Trump's message on masks... making this whole thing a political issue... the most impeachable thing he has done.
  5. Just remember: this is supposed to be the period where cases go down dramatically before the second wave comes in early fall. Cases are going UP. I'm getting a bigger freezer.
  6. I would be less worried about the players than the coaches and support staff.
  7. I wonder what it will take to get people to take this thing somewhat seriously again. I mean, I'm getting out a little bit. I just wear a mask when I do. It could be the NBA all over again -- when/if the NFL cancels its season, people might be like oh snap, no one told me this country has failed on an epic level.
  8. We blew it. Just insane. Probably won’t be able to leave this country for the bulk of 2020. We are the hotspot.
  9. I fear things are just getting started. I was hoping cases would plummet during the summer months, but that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. And once we get to fall? My goodness. Oddly enough, I was supposed to go to Fiji in August. Before I could cancel the trip, AIr Fiji did it for me — no flights from US are allowed. Now through August for the time being. I suspect all international travel may be off the table for Americans at some point, since it looks like we will continue to be the hot spot.
  10. I don’t see total shutdowns, but I do think mass gatherings and things like that will be strictly forbidden again at some point. Football, fans or not, seems super problematic.
  11. Starting to think it’s cute that we all think there’s going to be things like football.
  12. Also there will be a ton of people who won’t take it, thinking it’s been rushed. I’m not talking about the anti-Vaxers.
  13. We gave up basically. I get it — people are exhausted, going crazy and/or broke. But just because we all want this to be over doesn’t mean it is. As a country, we blew it I think by not coming up with a real testing and contact tracing plan. Hope I’m wrong.
  14. Numbers skyrocketing. Scary. Back to the bunker!
  15. Hopefully we get a month or decent living in 2020 before the inevitable second wave, which will no doubt be much worse. Sorry, but it’s clearly better to be pessimistic and expect the worse in America in 2020. At least you can plan for it the best you can.
  16. What happens when things come back even worse in the fall? I mean, why wouldn't they? We had two months to get a real testing strategy in place and we didn't. Now the plan is seemingly to muddle through and hope for the best. Hell, even in countries who had gotten the number of new cases down to zero, they are now seeing a spike. In some states here, we are opening up even thought the numbers are going UP. Wild times, man. Wild times. I really wish I knew what the answer was. Basically, we blew it.
  17. Trump constantly reminding the country of the decent, even-keeled, respectful, family man president they used to have seems like a bad strategy.
  18. We are really entering the great unknown. Obviously, we can't stay at home forever, but the failure of leadership at the federal level has clearly made things so much worse. Not even the biggest naysayers thought we would be this behind when it came to testing and having a concrete plan going forward -- I mean, we're two months in and all we're leading the world in is bickering and conspiracy theories. Hopefully we get lucky basically and the virus doesn't spread like so many reasonable people think it will. If we start seeing real surges across the country all summer... well there's no just telling what the bottom looks like. We could long for the Great Depression. Wear a mask. If not for you, for your neighbor. I don't enjoy it either, but what happened to better safe than sorry?
  19. I see dead people. Obesity and Covid is a brutal ****tail.
  20. No one who was already going to vote for Biden is going to change their mind because of these allegations. And Biden really has said all he needs to say. Plus, the more she talks, the more shady it all sounds. Soon it will be he had a gun to her head and a devil mask on.
  21. I know it’s an incredibly complicated issue and we have to balance the economy and risk, but the administration seems to think simply saying things are good is going to make them so. Gets more bonkers every day with this diaper-wearing (it’s true) president.
  22. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-52406261 Remdesivir flops first clinical trial. I guess it's time to inject some bleach.
  23. New study in Time shows that almost every hospitalized patient had some form of an underlying condition. Diabetes and obesity are two huge factors, so that's not great for America, but big picture it is good news overall.
  24. The problem is we have no clear plan going forward for the country. We are failing where other countries are not. Hyper-partisan even in these times. No one knows what to believe, who to trust. Some states have more competent governors than others, but these virus doesn't respect borders. The whole thing is way worse than it has to be. Everyone is just waiting on the private sector to work a miracle at this point. It could two years of this in some fashion. Lots of blame to go-around, but man, so disappointing and embarrassing for "the greatest country in the world."
