  1. You don’t think I believe that Heinicke isn’t very good? Just last week I was called a hater. I can’t keep track of what I am with Heinous anymore
  2. When your QB isn’t very good? Yes. I am. But it’s a nuanced question. You can’t bench a QB when there isn’t a better option. And while I think Howell is a better player, I don’t think he’s the better option in this scenario. One of Heinicke’s strengths is how he has ice in his veins. This is a situation where that is paramount. But if our backup QB was a capable QB who has seen time I think it’s a move you can make without issue.
  3. Maybe not to you. But I think it makes sense. It’s not like Heinicke is lighting the world on fire as the QB. He’s barely surviving week to week.
  4. And we can’t really stretch the field vertically with Heinicke short of a play where he closes his eyes and launches it (I mean this literally)
  5. I don’t know that this the case here, though. Heinicke has won but there have been a lot of factors involved with that, including Heinicke himself. The OL was horrendous under Wentz. Like bottom of the barrel. So bad I’m convinced some teams backup lines were better than our line with starters on it. Robinson being hurt really changed the offensive plan as well. We also had far less mobility at QB with Wentz, but a better arm and more of a threat to push it down field. Defensively we dropped WJ3, started Curl and Forrest at safety, dropped McCain to a hybrid spot and have had Davis show marked improvement week to week. I typically agree with you play the QB who is winning due to the psychology. And in this case I think Heinicke still may be the best option, but that’s mostly because I wouldn’t put Howell into that situation voluntarily and I would stop pretending Wentz exists because he’s going to be a cap casualty at the end of the year.
  6. This goes back to my desire for practice squads to add two protected QB slots to each team. It allows for guys to develop rather than playing musical chairs with rookies every year. Could allow teams to keep up to 5 QBs. Two of which can’t be taken and are on the PS. Great way to develop guys and create continuity with teammates and playbook knowledge.
  7. The Giants punted. We had the ball inside the ten and we chose to pass. Essentially, given our averages, we could have run the ball down the field for a potential shot for a field goal. Instead we choose to throw a pass where there was zero blocking and Heinicke by rights should have fumbled. But he didn’t. However the loss of yards made it so we had to punt and now instead of it being almost an assured tie we are staring a loss square in the face.
  8. Okay but if Heinicke were adequate would my phone keep autocorrecting his name to Heinous? Case rested. Debate can end. Shane Buechele should start for us next year.
  9. Thank you. It’s like competing with a friend in test scores in high school. Your friend has taken two tests. Got an 9/10 and and 9/10. You have taken one test and got a 10/10. Is person A (two test taker) doing better or worse? Answer: no idea. Person B hasn’t taken one of the tests. We’ll revisit when he does. But in the meantime we’re going to talk about person B as being better because their average is 100% and person A is only averaging a 90%.
  10. You can’t project it. We’ve played a game more. Have to at least wait until everyone has played the same amount of games.
  11. It doesn’t matter who has it right now. It’s a media talking point.
  12. Neither. One team didn’t play all of their games yet.
  13. I blame Turner for the pass on first down inside the 10. Why there? Run it. That’s a bad spot to try to throw. Heinicke is a mistake waiting to happen in that situation and the offensive line can’t protect him anyways. At that point you say, “okay, a tie keeps us alive and we’ve been running well so we may still win this anyways, let’s pound the rock”.
  14. Team is in a conundrum. Heinicke’s lucky rabbit foot looks like it’s wearing out. But turning to Howell now when they playoffs are literally on the line is a lot of pressure to put on the guy. If he is ready and he comes across as confident I’m game. But that’s a tough spot to put him in. I think we should forget Wentz exists. He’s gone after this year and doesn’t have the mobility behind this line. Heinous is… well him. We don’t have a good option at this point. But Heinicke is going to revert like he did last year and it’s already begun.
  15. Did I say otherwise? No. I didn’t. But our coaches continue to play him. As they should have on the win streak. Our coaches are going away from what works. Our coaches flubbed clock management. Our OL is terrible and Heinicke is, at best, limited. But I don’t blame him for the BS in the OT. That was terrible and I’m actually frustrated by it. I haven’t gotten frustrated by this team in years.
  16. A tie doesn’t hurt us. But I hate it. We actively tried to lose that game instead of trying to win. Bad decisions by the HC and OC and a QB who tries too hard sometimes in big moments (I’m not blaming TH. He is who he is.) Our clock management has been abysmal under Rivera and today is more of the same.
  17. I am so angry with Scott Turner and Ron Rivera right now
  18. Now NYG gets the ball back with good field position most likely because Turner made a bonehead first down call.
  19. So now the Giants can win again. We need a first down. Horrible call by Turner
