    It is tough to bank on a rookie 2nd round pick to step in as a starting LT too, even in a tackle class as deep as this one. FA is weak for tackles. Maybe there is a sleeper they like in FA like a Josh Jones or Yosh Nijman, they love a Patrick Paul or they splurge on Tyron Smith Only guy is Tyron Smith who we could get due to the DQ connection but the guy misses so much time

    I'm a bit surprised. A tradeback may be on the table to get a LT but who is out there who could step in? I don't think Tyron Smith is the move. Trent Brown is affordable and solid but he is a headcase

    There is nuance. Zach teamed up with multiple future NFL players (Allgeier, Milne as examples) backed by a great coach to beat up on the likes of UTSA, Troy and Louisiana Tech. With Maye, he teamed up w an ACC roster to play an ACC schedule. Daniels teamed up w a SEC roster to play a SEC schedule

    The Zach Wilson comparisons don’t make sense to me. He was a clear case of a guy who exploded playing some very bad teams his final year. Because of COVID, BYU couldn’t get Pac 12 teams and other Power 5 teams on their schedule that year. I believe Boise State and Coastal Carolina were the only ranked teams they played that year. Boise State was on its 3rd string QB if I recall and their D got gashed as a result that game. Wilson wasn’t good against Coastal and came up short.     Trice has gotten underrated and has become a forgotten name in EDGE discussions. He clearly is a high effort Phillip Daniels type of defensive end. I think he is a higher floor lower ceiling type of Day 1 starter at the position, which I'm not quite sure is worth it with a 2nd round pick, at least the very first 2nd.

    Why not just carry him another year and let a rookie guard develop behind him? If you cut him after next season, you save nearly $8M vs carry a $4.25M dead cap hit ahead of what will be a more pivotal offseason to compete

    First off, do you see him doing a complete 180 from the way he has done offense so far? Probably not and he is likely mixing Air Raid concepts with pro concepts, which still means Sam has a base to start from in this hypothetical discussion. The names thrown around were Tannehill and Wilson. The first guy went on the record and poo pooed the idea of mentoring Willis. The second guy is a well known diva. Could be a great mentor but seems unlikely

    If Howell can give you solid backup level play, you are saving a few mil each of those two years to use elsewhere.

    In that scenario, why wouldn't you just start Sam? He played for Longo for 3 years and really knows the Air Raid offense.

    Another name to throw into the mix is Demario Davis. The Saints are $80M over the cap and will need to go through their annual exercise of restructuring contracts. Of their expensive players, Davis is one of the few they save money on by moving on from. More likely though he just restructures

    Yep. Very best he is getting is a 2 year deal. He may get what is on paper a 3 year deal but is realistically a 1-2 year deal for cap purposes

    I loved AAA in 2010. He caught bomb after bomb that season. If I remember correctly, that year was also Brandon Banks’s big season as a return man

    Best path is Wagner + drafting a guy or two in Day 3 and letting them develop for a year

    I think Holcomb to Barton was a meaningful enough downgrade too
