  1. The guy to keep an eye on in SF is Brian Fleury. He has already taken interviews for OC gigs despite spending most of his career on the defensive side of the ball. Look at his background - he spent a stint as an exec doing football research for the Dolphins. It is pretty easy to tell he is highly intelligent
  2. Pete is the guy with the best shot of doing so given his network. Being a coordinator for him is an attractive opportunity because it could be a coach in waiting position
  3. If they are reopening the search to add new candidates, my guess is Pete Carroll. Best coach out there who does not need personnel control. Perfect bridge coach to get this team to respectability and then step away in 2-3 years and hand the reins to the next guy in hopefully a better candidate pool
  4. It says something that Quinn has not been announced yet. Doubt they love him. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are back to the drawing board
  5. Out of the three quality retreads in BB, Pete and Vrabel, Pete seems to be the only guy not demanding personnel control. It would be a nice save with the fanbase and he is there 2-3 years to build this team up and then hand it off to a longer term coach
  6. I agree. Macdonald is going to come up light in the leadership department due to his nature on their rubric. That leaves Quinn - I am very curious who he is pitching as his OC. He has busted at that decision outside of Kyle and that has been undoing.
  7. This is exactly how I feel about Quinn. To your point, if he disappoints, the honeymoon period with ownership ends. If it is Macdonald and he busts, I think a good portion of the fanbase would understand. Separately, I think the only retread who would have the support of the fanbase is Vrabel. He is coming off two losing seasons but I think the fanbase understands that, besides Tomlin, no other coach has done so much with so little underlying talent. Yes, they finished 6-11 this year but this team realistically had an equivalent or perhaps greater level of talent than they had and we finished with 4 wins.
  8. Is it just me or would Greg Roman be a great OC for a young QB given how he insulates them with the run game. He seems like he'd be good for a couple years and then you discard him
  9. On Vrabel, why everyone is so intrigued is because few have maximized talent the way he has. They have drafted very poorly and lost player after player to injuries and continued to stay competitive despite that
  10. I can’t think of a situation in the NFL where the interim coach or GM stayed in a lesser role after getting passed over for the gig. The only exception may have been Joe Vitt when he filled in for a suspended Payton but that was different. There is an awkward organizational dynamic you build keeping that guy around. So there may be a contractual way to retain him but highly unlikely they hold him hostage
  11. Raiders with a massive ****up hiring Tom Telesco. Means Champ Kelly should be on the market and would make a fine AGM for Peters. The two worked together in Denver for a number of years
  12. He stated around the trade deadline about how Harris and Shen directed this lame duck FO to find the best offers for Young and Sweat. He called it Snyder-like and was on an island with his opinion. One of the reasons we now have the #2 pick is because we had no edge rush after the deadline. If Sweat is the caliber of player he claims he is, we very possibly pull out a win vs the Jets or Rams. Give me the #2 pick + the 2nd + the cap room vs the #4 pick + Sweat
