  1. Cough drops work, but they have less storage capacity.
  2. BTW, what's the deal with buttermilk?
  3. Every once in a while I crave a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on soft white bread. And there is nothing better than a tall glass of ice cold milk to wash it down with. But that is about the only time I drink milk any more. Just got away from it. I use half and half in coffee. We've used 1 or 2 percent milk for so long that on the rare occasions when I drink whole milk, it seems like I'm drinking straight cream. The richness of it surprises me.
  4. Donald Jr. will finally snap from a lifetime of being belittled and ignored by his father. At a Trump rally he'll walk on stage and shoot dad point blank in front of thousands hundreds dozens of MAGA witnesses and media outlets, then put the barrel in his own mouth. Eric will sprint toward the stage to stop Junior from offing himself, trip on the top step and fall head-first off the stage, fatally cracking his skull just as Don Jr. pulls the trigger. Melania, at home, smiles enigmatically when she gets the news and tucks Barron in for the night. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.
  5. So fish are figments of my imagination? So I'm dreaming when I get the pecan crusted trout from Coastal Flats? Edit: For those curious, here's a pretty good, understandable, brief summary of the Supreme Court issue: Is a fish a 'tangible object'? Not in this case, SCOTUS rules in parsing post-Enron law (abajournal.com)
  6. This is also the rationale that Mitch McConnell used to vote against the second impeachment, and others in the GOP got on board - "Trump is out of office, let the courts decide his guilt or innocence." Spurious argument because impeachment and criminal indictment are two separate ways to hold a corrupt, criminal sociopath accountable.
  7. I did the Thanksgiving morning Turkey Trot through Del Ray this year. On every street corner was a person with a sign protesting the proposed changes to Alexandria's zoning laws that would allow for multi-unit building on lots to provide more affordable housing. Lots and lots of citizen opposition, but the change passed anyway.
  8. Received this email from Monumental Sports. Here it is, in full. Note the wishy-washy language in paragraph 2 ("eary stages" ... "framework of an agreement" ... "pending approval" ...) which clearly tells us it is far from a done deal. Dear Fans and Supporters, I am thrilled to share with you a development which marks a potentially transformational new chapter for Monumental Sports & Entertainment, our teams, and the entire DMV – and reaffirms our commitment to our fans to offer a best-in-class experience. While we are still in the early stages, we have reached an understanding for a framework of an agreement with the Commonwealth of Virginia, the City of Alexandria, and JBG Smith for a public-private partnership that would create a world-class Entertainment District at Potomac Yard in Alexandria, VA. Pending General Assembly and City Council approval, this project will become a catalyst for innovation and economic growth, uniting D.C., Maryland, and Virginia into a year-round destination for unforgettable experiences for our fans. Our vision for the Entertainment District is to create a dynamic campus where our Washington Capitals and Wizards play in a state-of-the-art arena, complemented by a performing arts venue, new retail outlets, restaurants, and community spaces—easily accessible by metro and a variety of other transportation options. Your excellent experience will be the priority for the design. Upon completion, we believe this unparalleled development will rank as one of the very best in all of sports & entertainment, matching our world-class fanbases. This project is expected to break ground in 2025 and open its doors in 2028. This Entertainment District is envisioned to be a lively, 365-day regional destination. The Entertainment District will also include a state-of-the-art production facility for Monumental Sports Network, a Wizards practice facility, and a modern corporate headquarters for Monumental Sports & Entertainment. We're excited for you to see this project come to life and invite you to visit www.monumentalalx.com to see a glimpse of what we envision for this Entertainment District. While this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to expand, we hope Capital One Arena and downtown D.C. remain an essential part of our future. Our plan is to have the Capitals and Wizards continue to play at Capital One Arena through the 2027 season and we hope that we will have the opportunity to continue to operate Capital One Arena even after the new campus opens in Virginia. We have plans to support ongoing development of Capital One Arena, and Monumental would continue to invest in the building and maintain its standing as one of the busiest arenas in the nation – continuing to host world-class live entertainment, covering a wide spectrum of music, comedy, cultural, community, and sporting events. Post-2027, a key component in our strategy for Capital One Arena will be enhancing the arena’s flexibility to adapt the seating capacity to suit various event types, audience sizes and event dynamics. In recognition of the significant growth in the WNBA's viewership and fan engagement, we’re also anticipating the Washington Mystics will need a larger venue in the next 3-5 years and would like to explore the option for the Mystics to transition into making Capital One Arena their home. Such a move would be a testament to their success and the burgeoning appeal of women's sports. Additionally, we expect Capital One Arena to expand its scope and serve as a versatile partner to the Convention Center in the future, when we can leverage our ability to secure event dates well in advance and when we have the flexibility to hold more daytime events. This strategic shift will enable us to maintain the arena’s vital role in the community. We believe the unique opportunity we have for an Entertainment District at Potomac Yard and a vibrant, flexible sports and entertainment venue at Capital One Arena will not only offer DMV fans unparalleled access to world-class sports and entertainment but also serve as a testament to our commitment to providing exceptional fan experiences, uniting communities, and fostering economic growth for the entire region. We understand you may have questions, and we are committed to keeping you informed along the way. Your passion and support have been the driving force behind our endeavors, and we can't wait to embark on this journey with you. Stay tuned for more updates and get ready to be part of this exciting new chapter in our shared story. Thank you for being the heart and soul of our vision and ambition. Ted
  9. The renderings of the facility in that tweet are underwhelming. The one building looks like a giant Quonset hut.
  10. Does calling for the dissolution of Israel as a nation constitute advocating for the genocide of Jews? Does chanting “From the river to the sea” constitute advocating for the genocide of Jews? I suspect those questions were in the minds of the university professors as they tried to formulate an answer to Elise Stefanik. Regardless, they bungled their response.
  11. Joe Flaccid and Fred Sluggish will be two of the Commanders 2024 draft picks. Commanders 74, Rams 3.
  12. That meatheads like Hostetter gain any kind of traction in the public arena saddens and angers me. In his verbal diarrhea during sentencing, he noted where "presidential" candidate Vivek Ramalamadingdong called Jan 6 an inside job during the debate. One of five GOP candidates for president left standing is spewing this ****ing nonsense. **** these people. They are corrosive. If this tool dies in prison it would be a blessing. And Vivek can **** right off too.
  13. UNLV shooter is Anthony Polito, a former East Carolina University professor who was denied a position at UNLV.
  14. GOP Candidate for George Santos' Congressional Seat Convicted on January 6 Charges After Testifying He "Had No Idea" Congress Met at the Capitol. WASHINGTON — A New York man who is running for the congressional seat previously held by George Santos was convicted this week of charges relating to the Jan. 6 riot after he testified at his trial that he didn't know Congress convened inside the Capitol. Philip Sean Grillo, of Queens, was found guilty Tuesday of the felony charge of obstruction of an official proceeding, along with a series of misdemeanors like entering restricted grounds and disorderly conduct in a Capitol building, the Justice Department said in a news release. Grillo, 49, entered and exited the Capitol on Jan. 6 multiple times, at least once through a broken window, according to the Justice Department. While he was inside the Capitol, Grillo was interviewed on camera about why he was there. “I’m here to stop the steal,” he said, according to the Justice Department. “It’s our f---ing House!” During the riot, Grillo recorded videos of himself in the Capitol. 15. While I applaud the choice, the cynic in me notes that the Time editors are fully aware they’ll sell a hell of a lot more magazines with Taylor Swift on the cover than they would with a glamour shot of Jerome Powell or Sam Altman.
