  1. Um, I know 2024 is his season 4. It is season 3, however, when the decision is made.
  2. We really didn't NEED anyone to lose as I'd rather not go to the playoffs than back in. Don't want any false positives now. No playoffs and there is NO good argument for keeping Rivera. Back into the playoffs and while Rivera has an argument for being kept, its a little tentative. Bully our way into the playoffs and the argument for Rivera is solid. Go deep into the playoffs after bullying our way in, Rivera is the man going forward and since 2023 would be his 5th, you'd have an argument for extending him.
  3. That bogus denial of an obvious penalty took away what might have been a 17-10 halftime lead as I don't think the Giants would have had time to drive for a FG at the end of the half. With all the other non-calls in the Giants favor and the ticky-tac calls that went against us, we would have crushed them. Now, we did get away with one in the Eagles game. Problem with just winning at the margin as we do, you CANNOT deal with bad calls. Yeah, if your up 21-7 late in the fourth and a bad call forces you to just win 21-14 you still won. If you would have won a properly called game 24-17, one bad call kills and was probably the difference between a 20-20 tie (or even a potential 23-20 loss) and a 24-17 win.
  4. A must win game for both teams. If Atlanta wins, we now are no longer in control of our own destiny. Last week was a game we could give. Only losing it would have made me wonder if this team was good. Beating Atlanta, especially in a dominate way, would signal that we are a good team and keep us in the driver seat for a playoff spot. I also want this defense to get us a few SFOs. Washington: 30 Atlanta: 10
  5. TH is a free agent and the deal may be held up in for legal reasons. In 1999, Trent Green was out FA who we didn't get resigned because of legal reasons. While Trent Green had a better skill set and natural talent (though back in 1999, that it was much more was still up for debate), it was his moxie in the first game I saw him in (a pre-season game) that caught my eye.
  6. The only game where Turner called the right game with Wentz in was the Bears game and that was in part due to response to an unhealthy Wentz and the return of B-Rob.
  7. Getting rid of Snyder is probably the best thing that could happen for the NFL and fans of any team in the NFL. About the only thing better for NFL, the NFLPA and fans might be to see the end of Godell.
  8. Why is it so hard for you to read the plain meaning here? OK, I did rely on context too much. Strongly believe that we need to go 7-4 or better if we don't want to move on from the current coaching staff is in no way stating that I believe they will go 9-8 or better.
  9. No, WE don't need to see Howell. Howell should only play if Rivera thinks he can do more than Taylor. If Rivera doesn't get to 10 wins (9 with a deep playoff run), he is gone anyway so as soon as the team knows that his minimums can't be achieved, then we need to move on and playing Howell is a dangerous option. The new coach will probably want his own QB and/or will have seen enough of Howell already if the new coach is any good.
  10. I did not say that I said “I strongly believe that either Rivera will go 7-4 now or we have a new coaching staff next year and I’ll need to give that staff a year or two”. LOL about my reading comprehension? I in no way intimated that I believe we will. However, given the fact that we do have 11 games remaining, it is of course still possible. OK, I did assume on the context of this thread and my previous posts so I didn't think I'd need to re-write everything.
  11. Yep, and I still have no idea why you asked your question.
  12. @Cooleyfan1993Sorry, I forgot to add over the last 11. I also only consider points allowed by the DEFENSE not points given up by STs or offense.
  13. What does that have to do with what I said? I only said that 8-3 or better is the MINIMUM for me to think we don't need to move on from Rivera. 6 or 7 would be bad because it would just be good enough for us to not move on but not good enough to convince me that Rivera is the guy going forward.
  14. In 2020, our defense allowed 30 or more point in 4 of our first 5 games. In the last 11, we only allowed more than 20 twice. In 2021, our defense allowed 30 or more points in 4 of our first 6 and only allowed more than 27 once, arguably because of Covid issues Our defense is decent in the short area but we do get burned in the long game or when we have to rely on our backend.
  15. No, not anymore. I remember that after 1998, I was about to give up but then they did just well enough to rope me back in. In 2001, one play before the Lavar pick six, I gave up and started watching a movie. At that time I had the final scores to Redskins games come to my phone, was I in for a surprise. Got roped back in. In 2003, I stopped watching the Redskins after the week 12 loss to Miami. It wasn't until Joe Gibbs was announced that I figured I'd give them one more chance. I was about to give up again when we put a whipping on the Giants and got roped back in. Because we did OK in 2005, I wasn't devastated by 2006. Was about to give up again in 2009 but the big FO change got me to give them some time and deal with 2 more terrible years. New coach in 2014 got me to try again in 2015, since we got to the playoffs, I got roped in again. I was about to give up again in 2020 but we somehow got to the playoffs. I figured I'd give them another couple of years. Last year after we'd successfully lost to the Broncos, I did not watch much of the Bucs game except for the last drive (watched the whole game on my DVR later). I am convinced that if not for mounting injuries and covid, that team would have won 2-3 more games. I strongly believe that either Rivera will go better than 7-4 now or we have a new coaching staff next year and I'll need to give that staff a year or two. Worse occurrence to me is that we go 6-5 to 7-4 in this back 11 (maybe good enough that while change is needed, no change is made). Hell, if we go 5-6, depending on how we do it, that may be just as bad.
  16. Hitting that 49 yard TD to Terry reminded of a missed connection in the first Dallas game in the third quarter. I liked Wentz after I did some research on him and feel that we'd have probably been a playoff team last year if we'd had him.
  17. True, but for since 1996, we seem to have a tradition of not being as good as we looked. We also seem to have a great time losing must games. Hell, even though beating Pitt in 2020 turned out to be a must, it should not have been. With that win, we should have run away with the division in 2020 The Iggs meanwhile have many times proven that they are better than we think.
  18. True, but I think a big part of that is the narrative that the Eagles are the lock for the division. For this narrative to be true, Detroit MUST be better than advertised. The only reason the Iggs won is because Goff made an error in the second quarter and the defense failed twice in the Iggs last possession.
  19. I do think people here aren't giving the Jags enough credit. On my play by play breakdown, the primary cause of the 'lull' was the Jags were stopping plays that had worked for us though some in the first half worked because we did have a deep threat. On our final two TD drives, the only deep passes were the TDs.
  20. Sweat caused at least one big incompletion. Had Lawrence had time to throw with accuracy, that would have been a TD. He also was probably a factor in the duck that Lawrence threw at the end.
  21. Was looking at our play by play. We did not go conservative after the fumble as there is no major change in what we called over the time period, it looks more like Jags adjusted so calls we made that had worked were no longer working. It also looks like much of our passing game was used to replace the running game.
  22. I don't think it is just that teams go more conservative when they get up big but that at the professional level there seems to be much less emotional let down by the team getting its ass handed to it. The Cards were down 37-7 going into q4 and were still trying to comeback with just over 5 minutes left. In most college and HS games I've seen that'll probably end 60-7 because the team getting kicked checks out while the winning team brings in what it hopes are its future stars who want to prove their coaches right
  23. Don't know but failure to put away the other team is pretty common in the NFL. This week, less than half the teams were out of it when the fourth quarter started.
