  1. I'm assuming for the stadium to be in my least favorite location until they actually make the deal. Until the Harris Group is actually confirmed and a deal for a new location is struck, I'm going to assume it will not be at RFK site, no matter how 'good' it looks.
  2. Last season, our whole defense in 17 games had just 2 TDs on ints while Forbes had 3 over 12 games. We had only 9 interceptions as a team, he had 6 by himself. Only Kendall Fuller had double digits in the PD stat over those games, Forbes got his hands on the ball 10 other times besides his 6 interceptions. Defensively, the only thing we did not have was the ability to get off the field before down 3, play makers on defense are a huge need when your offense is mediocre.
  3. So, the best rated team in the NFL on third downs stinks? Now, we were middle of the pack on 4th downs.
  4. If those are my only two choices, number 2 is a no-brainer. Best, given the assumptions you made, would be any W-L combo that showed Howell was good to great and the defense is good to great. Worst would be a good year W-L wise that was more just a matter of getting lucky as opposed to actually being good. Also don't like the possibility of being just meh. Option one is probably 3. 1. Your choice 2 2. Good team with promise 3. Awful, blow it up 4. Mediocre but QB still is below par
  5. There are 31 other teams. Extrapolating from my own feelings: More likely to go to see games were my team has a some chance of winning. So, since all but 4-5 teams would have at least a some chance to win or at least be in it for most of the game, I'd be very likely to go to a Washington game if I was a fan of the opponent. Until we have the division in hand (I did get to see Washington when that was more than a fantasy), I always hoped Dallas, Philadelphia and New York lost (unless Washington needed them to win to get home field in the playoffs). If I lived in the DMV but rooted for one of those teams, I'd at least think about going to some games. Most Washington games are relatively cheap, so its easy to decide to go on the relative spur of the moment (though the location of FedEx is an issue). Much of what is going on with the XFL and Defenders is that there are really no die-hards, at least at the beginning of the season.
  6. Your 3 is a jugs machine with a pulse or a flyer (whose usually going to be a late round pick).
  7. I don't think he needs weapons as much as guys who allow him to get to those weapons.
  8. Mmm, my initial reaction is that the Pack won this trade big time.
  9. Teams in the NFC east MUST pay premium prices for me to trade with them. However, given that Philly has now gone from suck to NFC championship quickly 3 times in the last 24 years, I'd be a bit wary of any trades with them.
  10. And that'd be my worry. Jacoby will not suck (7-9 wins) but is 1 and done and likely won't be great. We probably won't be in a position in 2024 to make a big swing. Sam might be great, might be mediocre (7-9 wins) but, unlike Jacoby, he could suck. Would much prefer a suck starter who will put us in position to take the big 2024 swing than a mediocre one and done guy who won't leave us with that option. Further, if Sam just does mediocre, he's still in play. Also, I personally prefer the 'good all 22' strategy as opposed to the 'Elite and 21 scrubs' strategy but that is my own preference based on desire to maximize fun for me not a claim of which one is actually more productive.
  11. When we did business, there was a lot of noise that we were targeting Olave and turned it into Dotson (who, based on post draft reports we were really targeting but you got to take that with a grain of salt). Might end up as Dotson, Robinson and a bit of Howell came to us.
  12. I would like to create more TOs, we were near the bottom last year in that category and had the worst average starting field position (part of that is due to lack of turnovers). We also improve that starting position with improvement in the return game and that usually means a DB or a WR (and these guys need to also be at least a legit 4 or a 5 on the scrimmage side).
  13. Jacoby should not be given the keys as he's one and done and will get us to around 500 at least. Sam either will probably either prove himself or we will likely be in position to at least make a big-time move. What I would love is if a big-name QB falls, we make enough noise that we might go that way and Minnesota gives us a sweetheart package of picks for 2024 that we use to make a big move in 2024 (if needed) or have lots of picks stockpiled.
  14. I saw a comment that part of why you need an agent for contracts of the size and structure Lamar seems to want is to have someone to explain what you are being offered.
  15. Dan is not going to prison if the NFL can stop it because, if he does, so are a few people in the NFL front office. Remember, most of his actions that are subject to imprisonment could only be accomplished with the knowing assistance of the NFL. There is at least one more that would mean the league and the NFLPA leadership were embarrassingly and grossly incompetent if they weren't in collusion. Much of the litigation also is a problem for the NFL as they would also be defendants. Further, Dan's history seems to indicate that fighting such battles is his idea of fun, especially when he gets to bully his accusers again. Finally, be careful of the devil you don't know.
  16. Snyder won. What was the annualized return on the investment? Plus, how about the cash flows over the years? Now, what club is he going to buy over in England and repeat this scam?
  17. Further, his role seems to be redundant. Magic looks like he brings possibly better media skills while Harris and Rales (along with MJ) should be good at recognizing and recruiting talent for the actual business side. Of course, a primary role of a good management consultant-type is knowing how to be the lightning rod for your boss' fails and how to make sure they get all the credit for successes.
  18. Thing is there are so many tangible things the new owners can do without coming in and first become meddlers in football ops (that was also the first thin Dan did, BTW). Branding, this is not a thing only about name change but also includes things like uniforms, colors (including shading), logos and putting together 'study' groups to research feasibility of big brand changes (like the name). Even as simple as fixing the Sean Taylor fiasco (for instance, commission a real sculptor to design an appropriate statue) . They can use their talents to 'sell' the team to the guys who will let/help them build new digs and a stadium (especially those who will give them taxpayer monies to help). Since, obviously FedEx will still be our stadium for the next few years, what things can they do to make it a better experience (yes, winning but there is very little they can do here that WILL work). When we are ready to move out of FedEx, they will likely have a big opportunity to make money if they began planning their exit strategy now, same with current digs. Media presence to sell the team to your next possible die-hards, Magic Johnson seems to have some ability here. Further, the product itself does not suck (yes, you'd prefer it to be good to great but it is really too late in the day to fix this until next year, if needed).
  19. So, now that the NFL has realized that using Jeff as their ploy to get more for this team has failed, will they let Dan finally sell the team? Maybe with what is going on with the Cardinals, they can get Steve A to sniff around long enough to take over the role they had for Jeff. You do realize that Godell, the man that actually hired her, is terrified of her report?
  20. Magic does have the Lakers connection going for him. He also looks like he'd be pretty solid at marketing this team.
  21. I think the last backer to live up to his top 10 status was Luke Kuechly and it seemed injury shortcut his career. What is real interesting is that the backers who become great seem often to fall to two or three and some were UDFAs (or would have been UDFAs today). Backer seems almost as hard to evaluate as QB but its not as important to have a great one, George Allen's best backer was Chris Hanburger, Pettibon led created some great defenses with UDFA and late round guys and, until London (who also originally was a UDFA), Williams didn't really have a name LB. Del Rio has now had 2 top 10 defenses with only above average LB play (and even 2021, the defense did OK after a rough start sans a few COVID driven problems). Most of the backers who breakout these days seem to be more known for great run-fits and/or great pass rushing. @SkinsinparadiseOne of the best names too
  22. Still seeing people who think the hold up is Snyder. Yes, he is on board here and is the NFL's tool but the primary issue is that the NFL doesn't want the team sold at a discount. A good amount of the power players here know that while Dan almost certainly doesn't have any dirt, there is dirt to be had. Remember, the fraud Dan has been accused of would take assistance of some of those power players. Selling at a perceived discount right now in the face of WWE selling at a premium is not a good signal to future potential buyers. You also have the situation in Phoenix while not yet a major cloud near what's going on in DC, it fits the pattern of the NFL bullying owners (being bullied is not imply you are innocent as bullies are often bullied for instance) going on in the NFL since the late 80s. Gambling is a big reason to expect growing future cash flows but bad books and accusations of fixing (especially by people you may not really control) not things conducive to good relations with the gaming industry. Selling at a discount would signal questionable bookkeeping. It is also just bad when your neighbor has to sell below what you believe is market.
  23. With the exception of the initial posts, this thread has only been a thread of speculation and any discussion of rebranding definitely fits.
  24. Well, having lots of relatives who are in Texas, I can tell you there are lots of die-hard Redskin fans down there. There are also a lot of NFC-East first fans down there. Many I've talked to come from a family line that simply realized that now they could root for a team on Sundays as well as Saturdays and Fridays. I have to say that most of the Cowboy die-hards I've known are not from Texas. Growing up in Houston at that time, he'd been likely have been either a Houston Oilers fan or a KC fan as a Cowboy fan. Moving to Miami, well until about 1960, that was Redskin territory, so even in the 70s, there would have been lots of 'Skin fans, especially among the older guys (though that was declining). A major reason I am a 'Skins fan was the near die-hard Redskin kin I have in southern Florida. Further, since the Washington club has work needed that can be tangibly be done by leadership (new stadium, new digs, branding issues) along with items that can be at least partially fixed by money (ie, better scouting staff, better support of logistics/marketing personnel, improved office environment, questionable books, etc) and has not been a marque organization since the 90s. You are going to get a much higher and easier lift to your legacy than any where else. For instance, in Seattle it is almost all going to be about finding the right coach, leadership and minimizing your own footprint.
