The cool thing about football is there are different ways to be involved, and there is no right or wrong way. unless you cheer for the cowboys. But I digress… I’m sure most would accuse me of being on the “hype train” with this team. Im good with it. Im also kinda indifferent when it comes to the QB. However, I’m such a fan of the entire offseason process Im not sure you can really tell the difference. Im as medium as Ive ever been on a prospect while also rewatching his tape and admitting I missed a few things 😂 I can see why fans are excited about the player, but for me Im more excited about the process that got us the player. The staff, the free agent haul, the front office structure. I cant fault any long suffering fan for having some optimism about the current direction of things while at the same time completely understanding anyone who isnt convinced and wants to see how it all plays out. I will argue that otas and stuff are important and its better to have good news and strong habits forming this time of year. Certainly better than dealing with holdouts or contract disputes. As for the QB I think this is where chemistry starts with teammates, coaches, and everyone else involved in operations of a football team. We’re in a good spot as fans and Im just going to enjoy it while it lasts even if it doesnt mean much to some.

I’d expect someone of her gravitas to understand this… Part of it sounded like she bought into the narrative that DQ wasnt the first choice even though that was debunked, but maybe she knows something we dont?

I could care less about the backup either way as in a previous post I think this clears the deck for a "QB Controversy-less" season. Brissett is objectively more reliable and consistent than Mariota. Not sure by a wide enough margin to warrant the extra $2 million guaranteed, though. Maybe JB thinks he has a better chance to play by going back to Ne?

It seems like a decent amount of fans want Mayhew gone. Im wondering why? He isnt redskins royalty or anything but he was a great player in Washington and part of the best team of all time (‘91). And by all accounts he didnt have much power during the ron era. I hope Mayhew sticks around.

I felt this way initially. But after having some time to digest it all, Mariota is the perfect choice. This way there is zero chance any fans clamor for the backup to get in the game… Id challenge you to find a single skins fan that wants to see MM start or play. Ill wait 😂 Howell is a good dude, landed in a good spot and has a great chance to make some noise up there with the sea chickens. He’ll either beat Geno in camp, or get in the game when Geno gets banged up, which he has a habit of. That happens Geno could get wally pipped. The right move for the commanders was to either commit to him or move on and fully commit to the new guy.
