Mickalino
Rob Johnson.... The Bills plan to make Van Pelt their future starter, and RJ will probably be let go for salary and injury reasons. If we can sign him for cheap, why not give him a shot at least to compete.
Kilmer17
Id rather stick with Banks than Rob Johnson. He and Charlie Batch are losers, lump them with Kittna and Jeff George.
Dale
Agree with Kilmer. I wouldn't touch Rob Johnson if I were you all...
bulldog
after the Westbrook experience, the last thing we need is to acquire another injury prone underachiever who seems to rub his teammates the wrong way. rob johnson was given the starting job in Buffalo based more on hope and faith than any demonstrated ability. he played 4 or 5 games for the Jags when Brunell was hurt one year and he parlayed that into a huge contract that he never even dented, in terms of paying back the club with performance. Johnson is a better gamble than Jeff George, but that isn't saying much.
OrangeSkin
It's tempting, but I wouldn't mess with him. He's still young, and could be a decent quarterback with a change in scenery. He's too much of a risk for us to take though, with us having real potential in the next several years. We don't need anybody like him screwing it up. Snyder has brought in too many trouble makers already, which screwed the entire franchise over for many years, especially this year. We're still paying for Deion Sanders, Jeff George, etc. Hopefully Marty will realize we don't need Johnson. Actually, it was only one game: the game against the Ravens when he subbed for Brunell and threw for over 300 yards.
Jimbo
I still consider Johnson to be an excellent backup QB coming off the bench. He's just too marginal as a starter.

indyskinsfan
Is it the talent or the coaching of QB's in the next 5-6 years, coming from college and high school. Are we actually seeing converted DB's, RB's and Tweener LB's thrust at QB in Pop Warner, then only to believe they are legitimate QB's by the time they are recruited for college? TennesseeCarl
All in all, I'd rather go with Jeff Hostetler or Gary Conklin. Johnson's one of the wealthiest frauds in all of sport.
Guest fuji869
I would rather have Banks back or even Ferotte. If we get Rob Johnson we had better have a good back up who will be ready to start half the season because he is injury prone!
Brave
Prior to this season starting I saw a stat where Rob Johnson was knocked out of 8 of 18 games he had started in his career. Didn't take him long to go down this season either. The guy is made of glass. And he's not that good when healthy. There have been several guys who look like they might have the stuff in relief only to find out when given a starting job that they are major frauds. Rob Johnson is one. Scott Mitchell comes to mind. Frerotte has probably played well enough to be considered legit ... but I don't think much of him as a starter. Die Hard
I'd rather sign Banks to a contract which makes him a lifelong Redskin ------------------ Accept that some days you're the pigeon and some days the statue.
Mickalino
Die Hard, I recall a comment you made about Tony Banks where you said, "I have been saying for 4 years now he is the worst QB in the NFL." (I have a photographic memory when it comes to remembering comments ) So how is it that you take the "worst QB in the league in a lifelong contract", over a Rob Johnson ? @DCGoldPants
If you put Brad and Rob Johnson together, you get Samuel L. Jackson from Unbreakable. I want neither of these guys here. ------------------

Brave
Brad got injured last year for a couple of games didn't he? Wasn't that why George got the starts against St. Louis and Arizona? He was healthy at the end of the year, but he was initially knocked out of the starting position due to injury rather than George's QBing prowess. Om
Mick, I'm pretty sure I caught sarcasm in Die Hard's voice ... and I happen to agree. Rob Johnson to me is simply a guy who rode a few good games in relief with one team to an outrageous FA contract with another, then proved to be average at best (Scott Mitchell, anyone?). Throw in his propensity to get hurt every seemingly every time to steps behind center, and I see a guy who ought to hit his knees every night and thank the Powers That Be the life that Fate has granted him so far. Not that I'm envious or anything.
@DCGoldPants
Brad got hurt in the Titans monday night game, didn't play for a month after that. That's only 1 year removed. He's had 1 healthy season since he's been a starter and really, he did get hurt but played in the Bucs playoff game cause we had nothing better to throw in. ------------------

Die Hard
Mick - Good memory. I still stick by it. I believe Rob Johnson and Tony Banks are essentially equal in terms of talent and strengths/weaknesses. However, to his advantage, Banks has had at least 1 year in Marty's system. And Banks has also managed to avoid the injury bug throughout his career that Johnson can't seem to shake. Without a doubt, these are the two worst QBs in the NFL today. I'm just a bit more comfortable with the evil that I know... ------------------ Accept that some days you're the pigeon and some days the statue.
