The bad news: Minimal change from yesterday and the O's bullpen is a mess

The good news: A letdown after a 7-game roadtrip winning streak is probably acceptable; also we're not NY Giants fans :D

Arenado straight throws one into right field, allowing Cedric to score from first on a Hicks single.

1-1

Urias singles Hicks home! 2-1

Thats what speed on the basepath can do for you.  Force defense to make plays.  Crazy how much we have with Mullins, Mateo, Westburg, Hicks, Frazier, Urias, Henderson and McKenna when he plays.   Too bad Mateo couldn't get on base more often

Edit: I just looked this up and apparently Mountcastle is faster than Mullins  (Mountcastle 28.1 ft/s Mullins 27.9 )  Also it doesn't appear we are particularly fast, with only one player (Mateo) in the top 50.  The next we have ranked is Westburg at 62 followed by Henderson at 80.  Also Frazier and Urias don't have particularly high ranks (in the 300s)   Surprising.

Nice find.

Orioles are by no means a slow team, though. Just not a lot of guys with elite speed. And that’s ok because it’s not like they have a bunch of guys with pianos on their backs!

I think the ft/s is only part of the story.  It doesn't take into account acceleration or baserunning smarts.

Look at Hicks just stretch a single into a double tonight.  You have to be fast to do that.

The Twins lost the rubber match at home to the Rays. Thanks guys. At least you won one in the series on your way to that AL Central participation trophy!

Imagine being a Jays fan right now, 15 games over 500 desperately trying to catch that last wildcard while a few great lakes away, the Twins are sitting there, a handful of games above .500 in a pathetic division, eating paste and coasting toward their first round exit in the playoffs.

Can't get mad at the Twins for losing 2/3 to a better team when we just laid a giant egg against one of the worst teams in baseball.

The bats should be due in the TB series.
