Corcaigh
I'm loving the shock and outrage in the U.K. about the DUP. This is a party that was founded because the more mainstream Ulster Unionist Party didn't hate the Catholics with sufficient fervor. The likes of Sinn Fein exist because decent people are pushed into their camp by the Tories support for the DUP. FrFan
The lastest news from King Machiavel ! I won't even mention the unprecedent turmoil and violation of democracy which happened yesterday in the upper house. The thought of Emmanuel Macron "too complex" for the interviews To justify the president's decision, an amazing - and condescending - answer was provided. As the evening paper says, the Elysée states that the " complex thinking " of the president " lends itself poorly to questions and answers with journalists ." Medias, you've been trying real hard to manipulate us to vote for him, now eat this ! Here we go again with the medias lecturing by the Macronian spokeman of arrogance ! Castaner calls on the press to "not try to weaken" Pénicaud "Government spokesman Christophe Castaner on Wednesday urged the press to "not try to weaken" Muriel Pénicaud , "because we are in an important moment for the reform of labor." The Minister of Labor, former head of Business France, Is targeted by an investigation into an evening organized in Las Vegas by Havas, where Emmanuel Macron had visited......" FrFan
Business France: the mail that involves Muriel Pénicaud "EXCLUSIVE JDD - In the Business France survey on the organization of an evening on the sidelines of a trip of Emmanuel Macron in Las Vegas, justice has seized dozens of e-mails internal to Business France. Among them, an e-mail seems to show that Minister of Labor Muriel Pénicaud, former director of the public agency, had been informed upstream of certain budgetary problems........" visionary
So is he proposing to cut the third of the parliament that doesn't support him? Seems pretty suspicious. Macron is making me a bit nervous.

China
UK to withdraw from international fishing arrangement The government is to end an arrangement that allows other countries to fish in UK waters, it has been announced. The convention allows Irish, Dutch, French, German and Belgian vessels to fish within six and 12 nautical miles of UK coastline. Environment Secretary Michael Gove said the move would help take back control of fishing access to UK waters. The European Commission said it "took note" but felt the convention had been superseded by EU law. Ireland's minister for agriculture, food and the marine, Michael Creed, however, said it was "unwelcome and unhelpful". "Brexit poses very serious challenges to the seafood sector and this announcement will form part of the negotiations," he said. The Scottish government backed the idea, saying it had been pressing for it "for some time". The London Fisheries Convention sits alongside the EU Common Fisheries Policy, which allows all European Union countries access between 12 and 200 nautical miles of the UK and sets quotas for how much fish nations can catch. The relationship between the UK and Ireland is further governed by a separate arrangement. 'Historic step' Withdrawing from the convention, which was signed in 1964 before the UK joined what became the EU, means UK vessels will also lose the right to fish in waters six to 12 nautical miles offshore of the other countries. What happens to the 12 to 200 mile area will be one of the issues at stake in Brexit negotiations. Click on the link for the full article

By 2015, some 708 000 tonnes of fish have been fished by British vessels, worth 775 million pounds (nearly 900 million euros), according to the British government. By comparison, foreign vessels working in British waters under the London Convention fished 10,000 tonnes of fish, the source said." Link I hope they know what they're doing here.
