Up Close:

Only Dave Butz (with a club best 203 games played) has appeared in more games as a defensive lineman than DarrDarryl was nicknamed "World" by his Redskin teammates.

Career Highlights:

Darryl's 139 games played is 15th on the Redskins all-time list.

He is the only lineman in Redskin history to record 100 tackles in a single season.

Darryl return3ed an INT for a touchdown in the 1982 NFC title game.

Selected in the 9th round of the 1981 draft (231st overall)

1990 Season:

Darryl notched another solid season to go along with a very solid career.  For the fifth straight year, Darryl played in every game and for the 3rd straight season he again led the defensive line in tackles with 78 stops.  He also added one sack, 10 QB hurries, one forced fumble and recovered two.  In a career that has provided Redskins fans with plenty of big moments, Darryl again came up big in Week 13,k and in the playoffs.  Trailing the Bears 9-7 with just 4:16 remaining and the ball on the Chicago 36-yard line, it was Darryl who stripped Brad Muster of the ball and set up Chip Lohmiller's 35-yard game winning field goal.  And in the Wild Card Playoff game, it was his ball stripping tackle in the second quarter of Philadelphia's Heath Sherman on the Redskin 28-yard line, that preserved the Redskin 7-6 lead.

Darryl will live forever in Redskins lore (and fans hearts) for that knife to the heart against the 'Boys, but he was a helluva good player and he and Butz were a game changing pair inside. Great guy, wish him all the best these days.
