I posted this in the draft database thread and figured it might also do some good to post it here.

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I remember a few years back on this site we did a mock draft with ES members drafting as if they were the GMs for each team and we did a full draft with trades and everything.

Any interest in doing something like that again?

We'd need some impartial and fair way of assigning the Redskins to a poster because I'm sure there would be some fighting over that role, but any other team could just be choice of the poster.

Let me know.  If we get enough interest I can help put this together.

If any mods can let me know how they would like to see this happen (separate or existing thread, not at all) let me know too.

I love these trade-down scenarios with Cleveland...however unrealistic. I kinda wish this site followed the actual draft-value chart a bit more closely for the sake of realism. Any draft where the Skins come away

with Shelton and Collins in the first round is a complete win.

By my count we have myself, Morrison J, Butters20, Wildbunny, darrelgreenie, Laron Burgundy and SkinsRul3!0.  I'm not sure we get 32 but if we can get 16 that would give everyone two teams, likely an AFC team and NFC team.  So all you GM enthusiasts, let me know and we can have fun with this.

A few of the rules I'm kicking around:

- You can trade picks (not compensatory picks) and players, so long as you find another "team" willing to do it.

- Once we commence that will be the draft order we work with through the end of it, to avoid a real life trade or transaction from throwing us off.  That said if the two "owners" like the trade their real life counterparts have made, they are free to copy it themselves.

- We won't start until the compensatory picks are assigned

- If you do have two teams, no trading with yourself.  For example if you have the Giants and the Browns, it is unlikely the Giants would trade all their draft picks to the Browns for Johnny Manziel.  Let's try to keep this as real as the format allows.

- Don't draft a punter in the first either.

- I'm thinking no trading future draft picks, because unless this becomes something that we can count on being an annual thing there would be no repercussions for the offering team.

Let me know if anyone has any others or would like to discuss these.

Again mods, I believe when we did this last time we had one thread devoted to it but until I get a head nod I'll keep it in here until enough interest is shown.

And here's the claimed AFC teams so far:

Browns - Epochalypse

Steelers - SkinsRul3!0

Jaguars - Wildbunny

Raiders - darrelgreenie

 - Butters20

 - Morrison J

Bills or Texans - LaronBurgundy

I am going with the assumption that everyone wants to try for the Redskins as the NFC team so I'm assuming until that is given out we can hold off on picking our NFC teams.  If you do not want to draft for the Skins and/or would prefer to have a preemptive choice of an NFC team of your choosing before the flood starts, let me know and I'll lock you in for that NFC team.

Edited: Up to 7 so far.  9 more please!

I'm in.

Can I draft for the Redskins?

I was hoping that a mod or someone on the outside would help devise a way to assign the Redskins to one of us since I'm guessing all of us (myself included) would prefer to run our draft.

Something along the lines of them picking a number and then all of us guessing and whoever is closest gets them.  Something fair.

Hopefully that doesn't reduce your interest in participating.

IMHO, since you're starting the whole idea Epoch, it would be due diligence that you draft for the skins :P

Still wondering who would draft for the Boys, Giants, Eagles or Seahawks lol. Not sure they do have many candidates...

While I would love that, I think my greater concern is getting more people interested, and if you take the Skins out of the pool up front, you may turn off people from joining.

As long as they have a fair shot at their favorite team (presumably) they may be more likely to participate.

If I don't end with Skins that's fine because I more prefer to participate.  When we did it before I drafted for the Saints and Raiders (the year they were both missing picks bleh) but still had fun.

I'm in, I'll draft for Buffalo, Houston, Carolina or Chicago, whichever team is last to be picked up, as I have ties to those cities.

Thanks.  We have 6 now.

And go ahead and pick an AFC team from those yourself.

And for anyone else who already signed up, you can pick your AFC team now since it doesn't appear 32 people will be involved.

As for the NFC, I'll assume you all want your name in the hat for the Redskins unless I hear otherwise.

p.s. In that vein I went ahead and picked the Browns, which may hurt if I do end up getting the Redskins as that would rule them out as a trade partner.  But I just see so much opportunity for the Browns to improve with their picks this year that I would like to see what I can do with them.

Also, until we get closer to our number of participants I'll update post #562 with changes until hopefully we can get our own thread to keep track of everything up to and including the actual draft, at which point I can update the first post.

Still no mod intervention...perhaps they're hoping this effort fails or lying in wait like Mara until just before it starts to pull the plug.

Post #562 has been updated with a few folks making AFC choices and an additional "GM", which puts us at 7.  9 more would be ideal so please consider participating.  Only requirement is that you check ES often and are willing to be mocked and ridiculed for your selections and stances on player acquisition.
