Sunday, December 26

Holocaust Memorials are almost beyond me. Emotionally, they just wipe me out. What humankind can do is just beyond sanity.

They just opened a new Jewish Museum here in Philly -- while I'm not Jewish, my wife is .... we have visited the Holocaust Museum in DC and I've been to Dachau in Munich.

There was no "humankind" in the Holocaust.

There was no "humankind" in the Holocaust.

There were angels and devils striding amongst us. I don't discount the hundreds or even thousands of Germans who risked their life in defying the Nazis to try to save lives. In Poland, my Grandmother and Grandfather were saved by a German soldier who snuck them onto a train and lied about their identity. So, as in most wars, we saw the good and the absolute worst in humanity... what makes Rwanda, Darfur, Bosnia, Cambodia, and WWII worse is the genocidal aspect. It's hard to reconsile that kind of hate or monstrosity in humankind, but it's also impossible to deny as it happens so often.

Yeah, not bad.
:D And that's only a picture. You guys didn't even hear her accent :cloud9:

FWIW, her name is Maayan. It means "spring" (water-related, not the season) in Hebrew.
