I promised myself that I wasn't going to respond further, but you have drawn me back in. Oh well.

Do you even have the slightest idea what that long letter you just posted concerns, Ken?

Try reading it.

It is about the controversy over whether Robert Gallo took claim for other people's work, and finangled himself a Nobel prize that should have gone to other researchers. There is plenty of reason to think that Gallo's work in the early 1980s was riddled with deceit. That doesn't change the fact that there have been 26 years of scientific research since then that undeniably proves the connection between HIV and AIDS.

But this is exactly why you are such an excellent conspiracy theorist. You think that if you can prove that Isaac Newton was hit on the head by a pear rather than an apple, then there is no such thing as Gravity.

Gee, I don't get just that from this article and I can assure you that those listed in support of this letter do not believe HIV causes AIDS....so I'm not sure why you think their objective is only to get "Proper Credit". Nope, this paper was the foundation for the entire myth and you seem to have no issue with the fact that other researcher's findings were changed...particularly this one:

"However, it has not been previously reported that on page three of this same document Gallo had also deleted Popovic's unambiguous statement that, "Despite intensive research efforts, the causative agent of AIDS has not yet been identified,” replacing it in the published paper with a statement that said practically the opposite, namely, “That a retrovirus of the HTLV family might be an etiologic agent of AIDS was suggested by the findings" replacing it in the published paper with a statement that said practically the opposite, namely, “That a retrovirus of the HTLV family might be an etiologic agent of AIDS was suggested by the findings.””"

You may have missed that line upon first read, so go ahead and read it again and I'll wait.

Pay Particular attention to the next passage in the letter:

"It is clear that the rest of Popovic's typed paper is entirely consistent with his statement that the cause of AIDS had not been found, despite his use of the French LAV. Popovic’s final conclusion was that the culture he produced “provides the possibility” for detailed studies. He claimed to have achieved nothing more. At no point in his paper did Popovic attempt to prove that any virus caused AIDS, and it is evident that Gallo concealed these key elements in Popovic’s experimental findings.

It is astonishing now to discover these unreported changes to such a seminal document. We can only assume that Gallo’s alterations of Popovic’s conclusions were not highlighted by earlier inquiries because the focus at the time was on establishing that the sample used by Gallo's lab came from Montagnier and was not independently collected by Gallo. In fact, the only attention paid to the deletions made by Gallo pertains to his effort to hide the identity of the sample. The questions of whether Gallo and Popovic’s research proved that LAV or any other virus was the cause of AIDS were clearly not considered."

I can't help but draw comparisons to the Global Warming beginings with the HIV Causes Aids beginnings. They both had major alterations to their original foundational documents that got the ball rolling and steamrolled anyone that opposed the scientific 'consensus'. But I'm sure you also still believe that we are all going to die from CO2 too...

Ok, Ken you're right...your tin foil hat conspiracies are right on the money...so go away from this thread as you've already proven everything beyond a reasonable doubt at least in your own mind; which is the real danger of conspiracy theories, anything that disagrees with your crackpot theory must then be part of the cover-up, it's a self fulfilling delusion, and personally you should probably seek therapy.

Do you REALLY think that no one has done any original research on the connection between HIV and AIDS since Robert Gallo in 1984? That without his single paper, all subsequent studies will simply disappear into thin air?
