The absolute joke FIFPRO Men's World11 on the other hand ..... A good night. Our outstanding manager and goalkeeper recognised as the Worlds best over the last season. Our outstanding CH just falling short to arguably the GOAT. Two of the three biggies. So van Dijk is the UEFA Men's Player of the Year. Messi is the FIFA Men;s Player. Gibbs Hog Heaven Posted September 24, 2019 Share Posted September 24, 2019 Not that Jurgen's press conferences aren't always worth the watch, but with him picking up his BEST FIFA's Men's Coach award for 2019 in Milan. the always superbly spoken, engaging Pep faced the cameras today for the first time in that guise. And it's worth putting it up as it was an excellently insightful presser on a whole host of things from why we deliberately choose to keep a smaller squad, through tactics and players et al. Can't speak highly enough about that guy. Always fascinating to listen to/ read with his in-depth knowledge of/ ideas on, the game. Proper football man and he always comes across as a real genuine, nice fella' with it. But then he wouldn't be working on Jurgen's staff if he wasn't. New ground #70 personally of the current 92 ticked off after losing Bury, Coventry, Notts County, Tottenham (although that will obviously be picked back up later in the year), and Yeovil since the end of last year. Fixing to be a real pride night with a boss atmosphere. Ala that one down at Tottenham way back when Rafa put that mad side of kids and back end squad depth and they turned 'Spurs first team over on pens. And the unleashing on an unsuspecting World of the best striker many have never seen play with this professional debut! Who doesn't love the League Cup? Up the trophy hungry Reds! Hail. *Edit* BTW, I LOVE that both Crawley and Colchester made it through last night. That's, presuming we go through, 2 new grounds in tonight's 4th round draw I was never expecting. BONUS! Not with the composure he's shown ever since he set foot in the door. There are certain players, yer McManaman's, Fowlers, Giggs, Sharpes etc, that you just know when you first see them will be nailed on top-level footballers. He's one of them. If the one where he smacked the bar the end had gone that would have capped off a perfect night. Loved the end the game too were a young lad came out of our end to him and he readily took off his shirt to give to the kid. Really impressive display that. Curtis Jones continuing the big strides he's made again this year with the responsibility of the 23's captaincy to show he belongs and can be relied upon in this company. Hoever capping another really impressive outing with a superb goal. Kelleher calm as anything in nets. Great distribution and awareness to go along with that belter save second half. Didn't really run for Brewster but we know what a special, special talent we have there who's still rehabbing to full fitness. And good minutes in Naby and Oxo-Chambo's legs. Albeit in pretty non-descript displays. Just a really impressive, professional all-round display won at a canter. And the best thing? As boring as drawing Arsenal at home the next round is, we get to watch these lads again doing it at Anfield and hopefully beyond. We're in it for everything this year with the far better depth. Great to be on a domestic Cup run again. It's been a while. Amused that they put the away attendance up the scoreboard too. 6,926. Is that a lower league thing? Jones and Elliott sure have the look of proper first team players, and hopefully Rhian gets back to pre-injury form. Ki-Jana looked a bit tentative first 30, but really got his legs 2nd half (maybe a couple words from the Klopp maestro at halftime to pump him up?) It was great seeing the kids playing with Degsy, Milly, and Lallana, quite the mix. Thought Adam looked good at 6. No worries when he gets the ball deep, with his ability to turn, create space, and get the ball moving up the pitch. Degsy did a Degsy early on, then didn’t put a foot wrong, blocking a couple, and marshaling the line to catch MK off repeatedly. Still a solid pro. And, Milly just keeps on trucking. Pure professional, pure class. Naby was hesitant early, but after getting knocked down on a touch line challenge, he seemed to find his legs, and showed enough to make me long for him to get match fit, and become the midfield monster he was in Germany. Seemed a great time, wish I could’ve enjoyed it with you GHH mate. Away Kop resounded on the feed I watched, and had a giggle when “Si Senor” got belted out. You all LOVE singing that one yeah? But, these are different Reds, and this is a different era. While there’s always the chance to slip on a banana skin, I just don’t see it happening against a newly promoted club (eh Pep, you say something?) Class will out. Now, as they've done for the 16th consecutive league game, this gang of absolutely superb Reds find a way to win. I loved that side of us where we can grind a game out. Just like the great L'pool sides, we can beat you any which way. You want to play football? Sound, we'll play you off the park. You want a dogfight? Sound, we'll dog it out and still find a way. Mark of a top, TOP side which this group is. Kudos to Sheffield United. You certainly know you've been in a game against them. Wilder has them superbly well-drilled and organised with a fantastic team spirit/ work rate. They just naturally lack that extra bit of quality that makes the difference. Sadio should have comfortably had us in front at HT with two sitters missed but to be fair to Sheff Utd, they had some decent half-chances of their own too. Everything in our game was just a little off today but thanks to that horrendous Dean Henderson goalkeeping error, we dogged out another superb win. AGAIN! This weeks admin- 16 straight wins the league. The clear second-best run in English top-flight history now and only 2 away from equalling the all-time record. 7 straight wins to open the season. Which is the 2nd best in the clubs history. (8. 1990-91.). And just 2 shy of equalling the PL record start to a season. 8 straight away league wins to equal the PL record and extend the club record by a game. Klopp's longest unbeaten league streak now extended to 24 games. (20 wins/ 4 draws.). The longest the football clubs been on in over 30 years. And a new club record of 99 points from the last 38 league games. What we are witnessing week on week is off the charts historical. Absolutely phenomenal team Jurgen's built here and the best L'pool side I've ever seen in nigh on 4 decades going the match. The one negative from today- F VAR! AGAIN!!!!! Yet another absolutely stonewall penalty on Mane from the Lundstrum diving tattle. Sound if Taylor misses it. But just HOW do the imbeciles with the technology NOT flag it up? It's getting a weekly question but just what the F is the point of the extra officiating tool if it's continuing to get things SO wrong? 8 points clear for a few hours at least. Up the perfect Reds! Only two runners-up have NOT bordered a champion (SWE, HUN). A long slog, means-to-an-end to the real stuff of the knock-outs. So-so games with so-so atmospheres that are quickly forgotten and rarely spoke of with fond memories. The season after we last won the European Cup prior to last year, 2005- 2006, all that changed and the atmosphere EVERY Anfield game was among some of the best she's ever seen. A real Scouse celebration of pride at being Europe's top dogs. And here we are again. Only bigger and better! Back in 2005, we were Europe's top team in name only. Fantastic that they won it. But as equally big a surprise that they had and nowhere near the best side in reality in England. Never mind Europe. Now, we are legitimate, home and abroad, the best there is to offer anywhere. And the arl place will be absolutely wild tonight, for little Salzburg, to welcome this awesome gang of Reds home in our competition. Roll on this evening. Up the best in all of Europe Reds! Hail.
