AOLNews: Newlywed Arrested After Rushing Wife To Hospital

Why is there always ONE person in the crowd with this sort of stupid ass logic? Yes, I have person in my car who's life could depend on seconds and you want to waste it on explaining it to a cop. Congratulations on being THAT guy.

PS. It would have taken more than 30 seconds. The officer would have had to run the tags, get out of the car, walk to the vehicle in question, and do his spiel about why he pulled you over. More like 3-5 mins. I'm glad my life isn't in your hands.

Speak for yourself...

Being "THAT guy," I would have the intelligence to get out of my car, go explain the situation which (after getting a police escort) is going to save me time getting to the hospital, and not to sit there with my "stupid ass logic" for 3-5 minutes waiting for the Cop to come to my car window. :ols:

So you honestly think someone in an emergency is just going to sit there and wait for a supposed 5 minutes? Of course not. You are going to get out of your car and go tell the Cop what is going on. When the Cops sees you get out of your car they are going to get out of their car (probably to tell you to get back into your car). That is going to take all of 30 seconds and if the Cop isn't a douchebag they are going to tell you to follow them while they use their lights and sirens which is going to allow them to signal to other vehicles to move out of the way. That alone is going to save you several minutes beyond the 30 seconds it took to tell the Cops what was going on.

Well, to be fair there were no unicorns or fairies. Assuming everything will go smoothly is about as real world as assuming everything will go badly. When the guys wife's life is on the line better to err on the side of caution which he did.

And I also forgot the time it took to look at the unicorn on the side of the road and the alien mothership hovering above.

Huh?

Have you ever tried to get out of your car and approach a cop during a traffic stop? I haven't, but I'm also not an idiot. I don't think approaching the cop car like a wild lunatic is going to win him any points with the cop.

I may have seen an alien mothership once. At least I'm not 100% positive that I didn't.

I'm positive I've never seen or heard about someone getting a police escort somewhere after running 2 red lights and acting weird when pulled over.

Get real. :doh1:

Does logic escape you?

This cop is a big enough ass that he pressed charges. If he is such a good, honest officer, do you think he would think twice to beat you down if you approached his car after a traffic stop?

Put yourself in the shoes of the husband, not the officer. That is where the answer is.

Cops don't "press charges". Victims don't "press charges". The DA presses charges.

http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/06/21/tennessee.policeman.hospital/index.html?video=true?video=true&video=true&hpt=T3

-------------------

1) So he wasn't actually arrested until the next day. And it wasn't even by the initial officer involved. The hospital security officer placed him under arrest. Actually in the beginning of the article it says Daves arrested him.

2) The incident happened on Wednesday night. The guy was actually taken into custody on Friday. Not exactly thrown into the back of a police car while his wife is being rushed to treatment.

3) The stroke didn't happen. While I would likely, hopefully, react the same way to get my loved one to the hospital in an emergency it would put all others on the road at risk. There is a reason why emergency vehicles have lots of lights and sirens on when violating traffic rules. 4 way flashers and horn honking are not equivalent.

4) The victim(of the arrest) says there was no contact between the officer and the couple.

It seems that at this point the incident at the most seems like a pain in the *** more than anything. Doesn't really sound like the officer delayed treatment or even took the husband away from the wife.

Seriously. In a life or death situation such as a stroke, I'm not taking the "if the cop's not a douchebag" chance and stopping. I'm getting to the hospital, getting her inside as fast as humanly possible and then the cop can do whatever the **** he wants with me but there's not a chance in hell I'm going to let the cop kill her with douchebaggery.

My now ex-pregnant wife had a huge branch fall on her head from a swing.

I rushed her to the hospitall of S Quaker and was followed by a cop for doing 70 in a 35.

The road was clear..

I waved him up and he could see the blood on her face and i told him i'd pull over in the Hospital parking lot.

He was pissed when we stopped and pulled his weapon.

I sent my wife inside and he saw all the blood/pregnancy and told me:

You crashing into a car pulling out could have killed her and others.

And left.

(didn't really matter to me what the cop was going to do at the time really).

Chris Rock's How to avoid getting your *** whipped by the police youtube video, points out that you never should get out of your car and approach the police like a wild lunatic.
