CBass1724
Why did the Saints get the ball at the 20 instead of the 13 yard line? I thought the other team takes over at the spot of the kick?
TD_washingtonredskins
I believe the 20 is the worst field position a team can get if their opponent misses a FG. So, anything that's spotted inside the 20 and missed is essentially a touch back.

Stophovr6
It's like a touchback right? We kicked the ball through the endzone.

TheDoyler23
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field_goal_(football) In the NFL, missed field goals attempted from the 20-yard line or closer result in the opposing team taking possession at the 20-yard line. Missed field goals attempted from beyond the 20-yard line result in the opposing team taking possession at the spot of the kick. Until 1994, the opposing team would take position at the line of scrimmage, unless the kick was attempted from inside the 20-yard line. Prior to the 1974 season, missed field goals resulted in the opposing team gaining possession at the line of scrimmage or the 20-yard line, whichever was closer to the goalpost. TD Is correct. http://www.nfl.com/rulebook/fieldgoal Field GoalAll field goals attempted (kicker) and missed from beyond the 20-yard line will result in the defensive team taking possession of the ball at the spot of the kick. On any field goal attempted and missed where the spot of the kick is on or inside the 20-yard line, ball will revert to defensive team at the 20-yard line. Lombardi's_kid_brother
After a miss FG inside the 20, you get the ball at the 20. Anywhere else on the field, you get it at the spot of the kick.
Xameil
True...most FGs under 30 yards go through the uprights. Unless you are a kicker with the initials SS...
MartinC
Well when Suisham missed that chip shot I know where I wanted to place the ball - it would have taken a trained surgeon to get it back out as well.
