I'd cut D.J. Hackett the first chance I had. It's not that I think he's a bad player, but right now, he's simply taking up space. I'd much rather see Mitchell, Thomas and Kelly getting the majority of the reps.

Former CFL star Dominique Dorsey has to make this team as a return specialist. And he's halfway home. He had some outstanding returns. The Skins need to reserve a spot on the roster for him. He's that good as a return guy -- and he runs with a little power.

I agree with the two points above. You have to keep Dorsey (cutting Rock) and you have to keep Mitchell as your #5 WR.

Agree 100%!

How do we have room to carry five running backs?

At this rate we're going to carry probably nine defensive linemen and six or seven linebackers, I can't see Mason and Dorsey making the squad, though I'd love it if it happened.

Sorry Hoya ... its Mason or Betts and you know who's gonna win that fracus.

Boy I sure hope the Skins get this right. I can see Mitchell and Dorsey being good players for years to come. They appear to be the youth with talent that the Skins have needed. And I am sick of seeing no yards gained on returns.

I agree ... are you shocked?

Orakpo is a beast

i just wish they'd abandon the lb experiment

almost all of his success this preseason has come with his hand in the ground

I hear ya, but if he were full time hand in the dirt, a glaring weakness in our defense would be exposed... TE/FB/RB coverage out the backfield. we need LBs with speed who can cover, BADLY.

No not so much Greg. We agree on more things than you think. The four biggies that we don't...

I believe Clinton Portis is the wheels if this offense is to have any.

I just am not throwing in the towel on Campbell just yet. But far from a Campbell apologist or homer.

I think Betts needs to go in favor of youth, Mason maybe? The Betts love is unfounded, IMO.

Chase or Colt, you seem to favor one, I don't.

I agree. So, why not sacrifice one year of Todd Collins now, in exchange for keeping our options open next year. Also, I think Collins is unlikely to be picked up by another team. So if we cut him, we could keep him on PS.

Uh huh...you realize that players are only eligible for the PS for their first couple years on the league, right? If you didn't, you do now, Todd Collins is ineligible to be placed there.

I suppose there's a chance we could keep both Mason and Dorsey, but it would be at the expense of Rock. You can't really take many spots away from another position. Mitchell looked good enough to win the #5 spot, hope he keeps it up.

Stream of conciousness here...do you suppose maybe they could make an extra roster spot by only keeping two TE's, letting Yoder go?

Is that perhaps because when his hand is in the ground it's been primarily on passing downs? You're not seeing his failure to stop 330# tackles on runs because he's not in there for that. From what Mosely seems to write up, he's improving as a LB.

Nice writeup by Matt Mosley as usual. Marko has to be out only keith eloi really right..? Done. He makes the roster. Portis and Betts are not going anywhere. Betts will certainly not be cut in favor of Mason or Dorsey. Rock as always is solid. We should cut him though. Rock should be the one cut imo. Keep Portis, Betts, Sellers, Dorsey and Mason. Aldrige is unhealthy. PSquad.

I agree with most of it, especially the Hackett comment. Personally, I think he played his way off the roster last night.

With special teams, there are probably a lot of guys out there who won't be on the roster when the regular season hits, so it is kinda hard to judge how the coverage units will do. I have a feeling that a few players probably went on the cut list last night.

I think the offensive scheme is wrong ... too much reliance on Portis (run on 1st and 2nd down usually) ... even if CP avergaes 4yds/carry ... then an errant throw by Campbell = 3NOUT.

I like Betts because he is Skins best 3rd down receiver ... worth a spot on the roster just for that plus he can play ST. Mason is too limted. Dorsey + Betts nice combo to have as insurance against Portis getting hurt. Maybe they can PS Mason one more year. No other team seems to want him.

Colt and Chase ... Chase and Colt ... love them both even if they are at least one year away. Poor finish by Skins this year will tempt FO to Draft a perceived "franchise QB." In that case, Zorn and JC both probably gone.

Can Campbell survive? Don't think so ... but the football has a wierd shape if you know what I mean.

Betts will make it, but I don't think he should. Mason runs harder, might not catch as well, but is younger and cheaper. As of last night I was okay with Betts, but that stop on the goal line was the last straw. It's not that he didn't make it in. It's that he never does, and he doesn't run with power and get narrowly stopped, he just gets stopped.

I'd love to see Portis, Mason, Cartright, and Dorsey as our RB's

Dorsey can certainly catch as well as portis, and ran the ball surprisingly well last night. Better than I have seen Betts run it.

I agree 100%! Mason kind of reminds me of Sprolls. More of a change of pace back typical of what is desired in a 3rd down back.

I think Cartwright should be let go

ditto.... he get so little use in the offense i'm sure mason or dorsey could step in. dorsey is clearly a better returner. dont get me wrong i love rock's passion, but i can only accept so many returns where he is caught from behind

i really like mitchell, mason, dorsey. they are young and enthusiastic about the game. i am tired of veterans that are veterans and dont add anything to the mix. i also would let collins go, and keep daniels and brennan. they are the future of qbs in the nfl.

Personally, I was high on Jason Campbell when he was first drafted out of Auburn but after not living up to expectations over the past few years I think it's time to cut or trade him. I'm not too sure about the economics of cutting or trading him but something needs to done. Let Chase and Colt learn from the veteran Collins and get rid of the kid from Auburn. He's no McNabb! Both Chase and Colt were great college Quarterbacks and I think Chase should be behind Collins and Colt behind him. The NFL isn't the WAC Colt you still have a ways to go. And I agree with Mosley Mason and Mitchell MUST be on this roster...Mason is much better than Betts or Rock. Just my $.02

BTW Go Skins and Go Gators!!!

Why would Campbell be beating himself up over 6 incompletions? Two of the screen passes were snuffed out at the line of scrimmage by the Pittsburgh D. One deep ball was a bit underthrown and the other was a miscue by Moss and Campbell. Reading way too much into one series.

I'm sure both Dorsey and Mason won't both make it because our coaches are so bent on Betts and Cartright but, I'm hoping at least one of them make it.

I hear you, and if the coaches are in deed bent on Betts and Cartright staying regardless of their performance this preseason, I think it's complete bullcrap. Both of those guys are EASILY expendable IMO. Especially if we have 2 backs that can come in and do what they do.
