In that case make way for Corporate America coming to hang signs advertising their products off national monuments in the name of free speach. I assume you will be tipping your hat off to them as well.

Funny, I don't recall the Constitution granting anybody Freedom of Advertising.

But, it was a really cute fail.

Now that I seen the video I wish the little ****er would have been repeatedly dashed against the rocks and then everyone in greenpeace who knew about the event convicted of defacing a national monument from all of the blood spatter.

Glad to see you're not overreacting.

You don't seem to be able to put together a coherent sentence in English. I'd like to see your paperwork proving that you are here legally.

Uh, I'll admit to being somewhat gramatically challenged, myself. But did you end your first sentence with a preposition?

Advertising is speach, is there somewhere in the constitution that says that speach is free unless you are talking about a product. The Greenpeace banner was an advertisment itself.

Their banner is NO different than an advertisment hanging from Nike, the only difference is what they are asking the masses to do.

Even if you think that freedom of speach only applies to non-profits, and that talking about products is not free speach, would you still be tipping your hat off if the NRA started hanging banners on the washington monument?

Advertising is speach,

Actually, I agree with you.

The courts, however, do not. They've ruled (out of their Phillys, IMO) that the Constitution protects political speech.

That, for example, is how the government can claim the authority to outlaw pornography. (Which is also speech, IMO. But not according to them.)

I wasn’t aware there were qualifiers in the first amendment.

Actually, thinking about things:

Actually, I, personally, will admit to feeling considerably different about advertising, myself. (In fact, I feel a lot different about advertising. I think that several commonly-used types ought to be illegal.)

Now, I'm not really certain that they should be treated differently under the law.

But then again, I think that what Greenpeace did should be against the law, too. And they should be prosecuted, and serve their sentences. (IMO, it's part of the price for what they did. If they weren't willing to serve their sentences, then they shouldn't have done it.)

If you look at my post, I simply said that, in this particular case, factoring in the political nature of the message, the non violent delivery, the fact that it's never been done, before, and the amount of work and risk they went through, I chose to give them a conviction and a little respect.

My first encounter with greenpeace was back in the 80's. I was on securtiy patrol duty topside on a nuke cruiser and saw one of the fools in a small boat trying to climb up one of our lines.

I locked and loaded on him and he made a big splash next to his little boat. A few months later was a news report of one of them boarding a ship and spray painting one of the torpedo tubes.

Since it is coming out that temperatures are actually dropping than increasing their agenda is making them look like kooks, oh wait.

1) No, it isn't. (Making them look like kooks.)

2) However, they are kooks.
