The official despite what you think, how it could actually work.

Topic: Albert Haynesworth

Personal view: He's a lazy player known to take plays off. He played well in his contract year but now that he's uber paid, expect him to get fat to go with that sass.

It'll work because: Haynesworth, having achieved the biggest contract in league history for a defensive player, will now seek to solidify a future spot in the Hall of Fame. On the interior with Griffin, forcing teams and backs inside, allowing Carter to get 12-15 sacks while providing the team the ability to stop the run with just seven men against anyone.

You give it a try. It'll make you feel better. Pick any topic you have a negative view on and create the most positive realistic scenario you can come up with.

Haynesworth will give us the push through the middle, allowing our blitz heavy package set up by Blache to be effective. When we stay home Carter will face a lot of single coverage allowing him to once again get to the QB. Add that to an excellent secondary with a future star safety....im excited.

Topic: Jason Campbell

Personal view: Has been forced into learning new offensive systems so frequently that he may forever be 'a jack of all offenses and master of none.' Too willing to take a sack instead of throwing the ball away or trying to make a play, often leaving his defense with a short field to protect. So quiet and unassuming, both on and off the field, that you wonder whether he's just nice or really doesn't "get it."

It'll work because: Fire in the belly. Being 10 minutes from moving to Cleveland sure as heck would motivate me to get on the stick (no offense, Browns fans). He's playing for his starting job and.... ding ding ding: a new contract. The kid's been on winners his entire football life and doesn't want to be part of any kind of different trend. He's got talented skill players to work with and (for now) a healthy offensive line coming into camp. Continuity: it's the first time in his NFL career he doesn't have to trade in the play book for a 'revised edition' or a different volume altogether.

I hope you're right, but i don't see carter getting 12-15 sacks even with god himself lined up next to him.

Here's to hoping I'm wrong

Topic: Jason Campbell

Personal view: Despite being a great guy and wonderful teammate, he has a slow release somewhere between Byron Leftwich and Hideo Nomo. He can't read defenses and primarily checks down to a RB if Moss isnt open. He holds onto the ball for way too long and always throws a 7 yard pass on 3rd and 10.

It'll work because: Aliens will come down and wipe out all the other 31 teams.

Topic: Jim Zorn

Personal View: Nice guy. Shows arrogance. He started well last year and I believe it got to his head. Once teams caught on, he did very poorly to make adjustments and steer the team in the right direction. Rift between him and Portis could have lost the locker room, but he did well to bounce back. Zorn needs to make huge improvements and adjustments. A more experienced staff around him would help.

It will work because both Zorn and Campbell are on the hot seat. One won't exist without the other next year. Zorn will be working over time to make adjustments to improve the offense which includes pushing Campbell into a better passer.

Topic: Jim Zorn

Personal: The guy is a sham. He's so convinced he's a humble guy that he actually is self obsessed. He is so green and has collected the majority of his experiences under coaches whose reputations proceeded themselves that he was unaware he actually had a team to lead, rather than a position to be followed. He's so attached to his system that he's unaware wins come before system.

It'll work because: Zorn has pride due to his ego and has seen the tape from last year and is not interested in repeating that disaster. He has nothing to lose as a bad season would most likely cost him his job and any future HC prospects, so he'll put winning ahead of system.

Topic: Dan Snyder

Personal view: Doesn't have the patience or football acumen to develop a championship team and is not willing to hand the reigns over to someone who does. Gets enamored with high risk flavor of the month players and is willing to give up way too much for them to the detriment of the team.

It'll work because: We're just one piece away from the SB! It doesn't matter what we give for player X he'll lead us to the promise land! And if it doesn't it doesn't matter because no matter how much he gets lambasted by the fans the majority think just like him and will be all over the next one!

Wait a minute. Is Art suggesting there is a chance he could be wrong? Don't leave us in suspense Art. Just tell us how this will play out with AH. :D

Campbell:

He doesn't "see" the passing game well enough to make the quick, confident, throw that is necessary to fit the ball into those tight windows, that open up so briefly in the down field passing game. Offensively we will continue to struggle with 3rd down efficiency and scoring.

After several shots of Koolaid: JC has a great work ethic. A second off-season, under Zorn, in the same system, along with reinforcements on the O-line, and some improvement from young receivers. Some eye of newt ,mushroom spores, and a vile of goats blood, from Snyder's liquor cabinet, followed by the proper incantation and <poof>. We are not doormats in the NFC East.

Serenity Now!!!

Personal View: Too many reactionary fans with little to no patience expecting Patriots football from a Redskins team when it is not run like NE's franchise. Also a ridiculous tendency to turn their backs on the current starting QB in favor of the backup, regardless of whom those two players happen to be.

It'll work because: With the additions of players in key spots such as DT, OL, and LB and the improved leadership of Coach Z, the Redskins ride an improved offense and a dominant defense to an NFC East title and a deep paloff run. Zorn is named Coach of the Year, seven players go to Pro Bowl (five on D), and the Redskins' cinderella season promotes peace and harmony as well as a further understanding of the game on this cyber-nirvana.

Topic: Snyder

Personal View: Snyder has too much of a "hands-on" mentality that many successful owners do not have. He is more "Jerry Jones" than the Rooneys. The difference between Jerry Jones and Snyder is that Jerry Jones actually played football up through the collegiate level. Snyder was the last guy picked in P.E. class for kickball. Upon taking ownership of the Redskins, Snyder knew as much about football as anyone on this message board, but he thought he knew what he was doing. That is a dangerous precedent. With the latest moves in free agency and potential trades, he has shown he did not learn anything about patience from his hero Coach Gibbs.

It'll work because: Snyder will start feeling the pinch in the wallet from his dwindling season ticket base and his inability to sell premium tickets. He will be forced to make changes in the way he does business either by selling the team (because his other ventures will have left him penniless), or by hiring the right people in order to put a successful product on the field. This will not happen right away, but will take about 5-10 years. It's going to have to work because that is our only hope as Redskins fans for a winning team.

Our minds work differently, Art. I strive to clear my mind of negative or positive biases, a difficult thing to do. I'm usually thinking in terms of odds and probabilities. For example:

Topic: Albert Haynesworth

Personal view: He's a lazy player known to take plays off. He played well in his contract year but now that he's uber paid, expect him to get fat to go with that sass.

It's very likely that the negatives you cite are exaggerated by the media -- because the media typically exaggerates such things.
It'll work because: Haynesworth, having achieved the biggest contract in league history for a defensive player, will now seek to solidify a future spot in the Hall of Fame.
It's unlikely that Big Al will step up his game. If he has a lifelong habit of laziness, it isn't likely to change -- because people usually don't change lifelong habits.
On the interior with Griffin, forcing teams and backs inside, allowing Carter to get 12-15 sacks while providing the team the ability to stop the run with just seven men against anyone.
Your conclusion is logical and highly likely given Al's past performances with the Titans.

I really don't like yours very much.

Topic: Dan Snyder

Personal view: He's a meddlesome owner who has horrible instincts with respect to running a football team but wonderful instincts for making money. Off of us. He's younger than I am and will probably be our owner for the rest of my life.

It'll work because: Cerrato and he will continue to fail and eventually the cash cow that is us will start to dwindle. He'll finally grow thick enough skin and a small enough ego to distance himself from the team and hire a real GM and give him the authority to run the team.

I don't like mine much either but at least it has a happy ending.
