Our run defense is better without Taylor

I think Taylors knee injury really affected his play against the run. Seeing as we are playing well against the run at the moment and haven't needed his pass rush to win (it would be nice to see though), the skins need to make sure he's completely healthy before he comes back because we will need him later this year.

He does seem to be somewhat of a liability against the run, but in his defense i dont think hes been 100% healthy. From what ive seen so far, hes great at getting his hands up and batting down passes and hes helped collapse the pocket a few times. Even if he doesnt get to the QB i think with him on the field their internal clock speeds up and they are a little less comfortable when dropping back to pass.. id say he gets a few more sacks down the stretch and hopefully he saves his best for the playoffs!

Considering we have absolutely not sacked the QB at all in the past two games I'd say it's safe to say we need Taylor in there. Against the Cardinals, when finally appeared to be healthy, he was getting to the QB, batting balls, etc. He's still a stud. He's just banged up right now. This calf injury has also given him the time to let the knee heal and get back to 100%.

all I know is that our D is not suffering without him, so there is no need to rush him back. Let him be 100% before he returns

Good point and that impact he has had is already there. Did you see him on the sideline coaching the guys up. Taylor's an incredible leader and IMO is helping guys like Evans, Wilson and Jackson understand what DE is all about.

BTW, he was never a liability in Miami, run or pass. The whole D stunk as a unit but Taylor played really well on all three downs.

Taylor is 244 pounds. There is no way at 34 that he would hold up over the remaining schedule (assuming he plays against St. Louis) in a full-time role. IMO Evans is going to be the LDE on first and second downs with #92 switching inside to DT and #55 coming in on long-yardage/third downs.

A #2 pick was a lot to give up for a situational player, but if you look beyond the pick and just at the talent on the roster, the Redskins CAN make this situation on the DL work to their advantage much as the 1982 team did with Tony McGee :)

Zorn and Blache have really messed with opponents the past two weeks; our run D was not tested against Dallas; Westbrook broke a few ribs on the first series. It is unclear how much that had to do with our run D but broken ribs dont feel too good when running. Sometimes a good defense, is a good offense. Zorn has our offense working, scoring points, keeping our D rested and off the field... things that will always help run stats.

Strahan was 36, about to be 37, at 255 pounds and played exceptionally well. Jason Taylor can play this whole year at a high level as long as he gets healthy. He's a stud.

You have to admit, not having Taylor in the lineup gives us more ammo for internet arguements with stupid cowpukes and iggles fans. I love to tell them that we beat their football team without the services of J Taylor.

and eagles without shawn springs and marcus washington!

Yeah, Im having a hard time looking at a sack and 4 passes deflected on one leg in 3 games and saying he cant play at a high level. Run D being better? maybe, but lets see how we do when hes healthy

As long as Taylor is healthy, Evans will not take his starting job from him. Evans may be more of a space eater but he is in no way a better overall DE than Taylor is. You may see Evans in on short yardage and goal line stands but not as a regular DE once Taylor is healthy again.

Also dont forget that Andre Carter is the same size and he has had no issues with run support. In fact, he was the one that got penetration to the backfield to foil Westbrook's goal line attempt this weekend on 3rd down.
