Oldskool
I think you are talking about Harvey for the jags he is the only DE still unsigned! But Merling is doing well in dolphins camp: http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/story/635966.html I still wouldn't change our draft I like what we have! Sorry, you are right it is Harvey. However, Merling is not a pass rushing DE in any respect. He's a DT playing a DE slot.
ouvan59
I guess it didn't cross their mind that we were comfortable with our DE situation until Daniels went down for the season in training camp. Daniels' injury took place AFTER the draft. So I guess we should have predicted that Daniels was going to go down for the season before it happened, and thus drafted a DE. We were hit with a season-ending injury to a starter during training camp, and we had to pay a fairly steep price to get a premium player at the position to fill the void. Pretty silly to make an issue of this. Every other team in our division inquired about JT just like we did. Bingo!!!
ibrahim
"Just when you think the Redskins’ front office is starting to figure it out and building through the draft..."Translation: just when the Redskins finally started doing things the way I think they should be done... "...they give up the house for Jason Taylor..." Translation: I get to ***** again! Hooray!! "...a guy that will be lucky to play a few more seasons." Translation: I'm still buying into that "Dancing With The Stars/I've Lost All Interest In Football" speculation... "They could have drafted Phillip Merling in the second round." Translation: I think I remember seeing one or two mock drafts having the Skins pick Merling with their 1st round pick, but they didn't....what's that? Traded down?...Oh...Well, they should have picked him with their 2nd rounder, then...what's that? Merling was gone by then?...Dammit, I'm still right, don't argue with me. "There were plenty of options in the draft with upside." Translation: I enjoy stating the obvious. That way I'm right on at least one thing. "They could have had a young talent who could play another 10 years in the league." Translation: Instead they got two young talents who could play another 10 years in the league...but let's ignore all that. :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy

IbleedBnG83
He lost me when he said Brett Favre doesn't have the arm he use to. Ummm, Favre still has one of the strongest arms in the NFL.
CHERRYR
the way they smell it... "The following quotes are from NFL scouts, coaches and front-office personnel, speaking on condition of anonymity." in other words, this diarrhea could be coming out of anybody's mouth... and just exactly what were the Skins supposed to do (long after the draft) when Daniels went down for the season? Ah, I didn't click on the link so I didn't know it was from the "The Way We Hear It" section...yeah, that quote could have been from pretty much any schlub in the NFL. Xempt
 Lets see Jason Taylor, Malcolm Kelly and Devin Thomas versus Philip Merling. actually it would be jason taylor and devin thomas, fred davis, justin tryon vs phillip merling. (those rookies are the three players we got with the picks from the falcons, kelly was drafted with our own 2nd rounder)

jnhay
We got Bruce Smith when he was 37 and he got 10 sacks for us, so I'm not that concerned with Jason Taylor's age.
Peregrine
What does the 2nd rounder we gave up for Taylor have to do with drafting Merling? Is he going to be drafted again next draft?
ucfSKINS
You're getting PFW and PFT mixed up. Understandable when they both make hideously misinformed critiques like this. Well said, tomato tomatoe blah blah blah I hate em both
pjfootballer
I guess he doesn't realize we have a potential young defensive end in Erasmus James that could fill Taylor's shoes in 2 years. We won't need that 2nd rounder if James fills the bill. Also, who's to say we won't AGAIN trade our 1st rounder for two 2nds? Remember, Philly has Carolina's 1st and the ****cats may want to get back into the first round.
