Welcome to Ashburn. We use hand recorders. Alas, we are still waiting on Art to send us the $2000 shoulder jobs that the radio guys have with the foam-covered mics...

If you go to a Chuck Levins or probably even a Guitar Centar, you can get a decent wind sock for your mic for about 10 - 15 dollars. It won't be perfect, but it will keep the clean sound in and most of the wind out. Many of the socks are designed for Shure mics, but if you're using a standard dynamic mic, you can get one that fits nicely over the head.

Do they make one for this?

Ahha... that's a little trickier. So, you're using the internal mic on a minidisc recorder. Those are always a little sketchy. Does it have any jacks, looks like I see an 1/8 " mic jack up top, but it could be for head phones. If it does have an external jack, you could upgrade by getting a decent Senheiser or Shure mic (70-120) and XLR to 1/8" inch adaptor and a wind sock (25 bucks or so), but the best way to prevent wind noise when using a mini is with your back. If you are conscious that the wind is really gusty, figure out the direction it's coming from and use your body to shield the mic from being directly hit by the wind. At least that way you won't have as much wind concussion... if that's what's being talked about.

Hey those are great suggestions.

But since we have no budget and you have to take the players as they come off the fields and walk in the direction they are going, I'm thinking we may have to live with it a bit.

Sorry about that. In that case, next time you see Larry Michaels see... what's that, what's that over there. When he turns to look grab his mic and replace it with a snickers bar. Given his acumen, it will probably take him a month to notice the difference. Besides, he rarely uses his mic effectively anyway ;)

Final note, do not take a bite of the Snickers bar as that leaves DNA evidence.

It is hard, but try to be semi-conscious of your body. It is possible to use the body as an effective shield, although it can occassionally be difficult especially if you are in a cluster or you are walking and talking. In the end though, don't sweat it. I haven't heard really significant audio problems on your end. Considering it's live and out doors it has been quite clean.

Yes, Buzbee looks bigger, and I agree about Wilson. As for Jackson, we'll just have to see if he develops, both on the field and in the gym.

Many thanks, JJ. I will eagerly await evidence that Buzz is the next Dexter. ;)

I haven't really heard much mention on our boy Laron Landry yet. After that beast of a playoff game last year, how's he looking so far in camp? Any info on him would be appreciated. Sorry if I missed it in the writeup but that thing was extremely long and kept getting longer with edits. Anyways, I expect big things from Laron this year

"- Stephon Heyer looks to be in much better shape than this time last year. The best way to describe it is to say he lost a lot of baby-fat. He says he spent the offseason boxing."

For sure. My cousin and I saw him at a wizards game about 3 weeks ago. Dude was looking like he hit the gym hard! I can back that 100%..I am glad to see him doing that work. Between him, our 3rd rounder and Kerry brown, its great to see the O-line getting younger with some talent...
