I actually had a dream last night with all the excitement of football and everything during the day...Which is weird!I don't dream very often...

My dream was about the offseason conundrums that go on during the year...I was sitting in a room...There was a big table in the middle with about 9 to 10 chairs...

Being the only one in there,I decide to sit in that corner chair away from any attention or of "little importance chair"..

There was a blackboard that appeared to have writing on it...It looked like names, but they were names I did not recognize...All of a sudden a security officer walks in the room and tells me that I need to leave because there will be a formal meeting in about 20 minutes...

So I respond with respect and say "Ok frank"(only thing I say in dream)as he kinda escorts me out of the room...he says.."you can set on those benches over there by the trophy case..."(I have no idea where I was by the way..)

So a few minutes(probably 5 minutes) go by and I see about 6 men walk in the room...(none of whom I recognize)All seemed to be older men at least over 50 or so...

Then I heare a voice coming from behind them that says..."So what do you guys want for lunch"....and with shock!!Here is the man I saw walking in the room behind them as he carried a notepad and walkie talkie...(whatever that was for??)

Why doesn't Dennis green have a coaching job?

here's a guy who has made every program better that he's coached (including Nothwestern, Stanford, Minnesota Vikings, and Arizona Cardinals), and took the 1998 Vikings to 15-1. He's also part of the Bill Walsh coaching tree, and an offensive thought leader.

Sure he's got some interesting episodes like "They were who we thought they were", but overall he's a find for someone. Surely he's better than Petrino or Saban or Houston Nutt or a bevy of others.
Why doesn't this guy have a coaching job?

He is still living off the contract the Cardinals settled with him. Dennis Green is a good coach, and there will be plenty of vacancies after the season. I see 10 teams that need to make coaching changes (including Atlanta).

I didn't realize he was still on contract to Bidwell Is this what you are searching for?
Every time I hear him, he sounds like he's having a pretty great time not coaching - plenty of fishing and time with friends. My guess is that there are several positions he could have had if he showed interest, but he's likely being very selective.
His rants are funny, but there's no denying his coaching ability especially on the offensive side of the ball.

I have to agree he would be a good man for any of the vacancies next year.

by David O Member since:

He is unable to win. He was in Minnesota forever and got them close every year, but never to the Super bowl. Last years monday night game is Green in a nutshell, come from ahead to loose.

It seems like no matter what team he coaches they can't keep the lead in games to save their lives.

I have never seen one coach blow so many leads in football games in my life.

BECAUSE HE IS WHO I THOUGHT HE WAS...AND I LET HIM OFF THE HOOK!
by sgoldper
Well because he makes those tirades and people forget the record. Then you have cases like Arizona last year, nothing he could really do to help the Cardinals, so people forget he can coach. Are the Cardinals really that much better this year? No, but the Coach isn't throwing a tirade, that his team DESERVED, so people are forgetting that they aren't really that much better. See image is a large part of coaching. Also I'm not sure that Dennis Green WANTED a job this year. It may in part be his choice to take a year off. If you honestly watch the Press Conference from the game against the Bears then you see why he made the comment. Yes the Cardinals did let the Bears off the hook, and the Bears weren't that great as we all saw, and are seeing.

This is one of the most useless threads I have ever read. You could have just said, 'I think Dennis Green would be a good coach, and here's why...' but that was just boring and dumb.

I don't know...I think I would vote "roy williams for a 2nd"...or "sean Taylor tribute 5000 video"....Let the guy RIP.. please...!!

...oh..there are so many more..!At least it's different than all the redundant threads...

I know different people react differently to harsh situations, but I think there is NOTHING wrong with posting Taylor videos. He was a Redskin, and thus Family to alot of us, so sit back and enjoy the memories and keep his Redskins spirit alive.

You could have just said, maybe Dennis Green should get the job and here are my reasons why. Unliess the coach is Lombardi come back from the dead to coach the skins again I will pessimistic about any coach getting the redskins job.

I once spent 20 years as the Cardinals' GM in Madden '05. This was maddening as I could usually build a SB team in five years or less. Within five or six years, I had them going 12-4 and winning their division almost every year. And yet, every year, they just couldn't win in the playoffs. I had already fired all the coordinators after the first handful of bad seasons but I always retained Dennis Green, his stats were up there with the best so there was no reason to let him go.

That was until the window started to close, I had a team of ridiculously overpaid 35 year olds. Soon I was going to lose my franchise QB and my elite receiving corps. So I fired Green finally and the very next year won a playoff game. Then, at long last, I won the big one.

I know it's a bit long-winded and not reality but that was my experience retaining Green as a coach for 15 seasons. There was a lot of hype, a really talented team, amazing regular season record, and a massive pile of cash with which I built a 90,000 seat stadium but it took forever to get to my goal.
