We are all obviously addicted to EXTREMESKINS.COM. During the offseason/pre-draft lull, I'd really like to know the history behind this site and I'm betting I'm not alone. Admins, how about sharing with us how this whole web-thang got started (we know Al Gore created the WWW, but how did EXTREMESKINS come to be?). I'm posing this question at the risk of being hammered as the ultimate suck-up...but I really would like to know how it all got started and what was involved? Oh mighty ones, share with thy peons thy greatness?

please?

pretty please?

educate all of us pathetic newbies who weren't along for the ride in those glorious early days (have you all ever considered a 'History of Extremeskins' link for the homepage?)

You are indeed a suck-up. ;)

Here, Art, I'll get you started: "I was born the son of a poor, black sharecropper . . ." ;)

I've "only" been around for 2.5 years. From what I understand, however, there was a core group of guys who were long-timers at The Sporting News' message boards, until they got so tired of the infantile nature of the discourse there that they created this board. Based upon the leadership at this board, they're all of the people you'd expect: Blade, Die Hard, Art, Om, Buddha and others.

But I wasn't around during that pre-Extreme time, so I'm only putting two and two together based upon little pieces of info I've read over the months and years.

TSN was the largest pile of horse hockey on the net. Die Hard started EXTREMESKINS by himself . Later on after some time had passed, and an outstand foundation had been laid, Die Hard could no longer keep up with the time and funds needed to keep Extremeskins running as a completely free fan site. That's when Blade steped up in a very big way. At this point I'm pretty sure there's a few silent partners.

We've been through a crash where many early threads were lost for all time, and a major software upgrade not so long ago with some down time where we would all flock over to CPND. The guys that make this place "GO" are to be comended. From day 1, it's been a class act.

When I joined, there were about 60 members. I knew Art, Buddha, Navy Dave, Indy, Kenny, Kevin the PRF, Bulldog (Reaper), Trevor,Mick, MikeB, Brave(I think), KMP, SAG (I think)Tom The Giants Fan, and at least a dozen or so more I just can't think of from TSN. I didn't know Die Hard well at the time, or blade. Buddha posted a link to the EXTREMESKINS on TSN one day, and all the quality posters were so fed up, TSN was a thing of the past shortly after. Although OM wasn't here in the very early days, he more then made up for lost time with his week by week game scripts (don't know what else to call them) that were killer IMO, the "Man" contest, and then the monthly. Again, I can't say enough about everybody that has a hand in the site.

The rest as they say, Is History;) :high: :high:

Ah, the old TSN boards. What memories they bring.

There were some good times on those boards, but the need for Extremeskins was profound. Over the last several months the TSN boards degenerated in such a way that you had to filter through more garbage than substance. There was ALWAYS smack talk, but it really got out of hand. You guys remember Mr. Redskin? OCF?

I visited Extremeskins after hearing that some of the better members had fled here. I signed up right away and that was that. Went back to the TSN boards more for laughs than anything else for another month or so, but about the only member left with anything to say was Henry ... who eventually made his way here. Almost all the others had already jumped over permanently. Haven't looked back since.

This place rocks.

In fact, ExtremeSkins had been mentioned on television and since the Washington Post.

Really? When???

I'm trying to figure out how I found this board. I know I registered when goldenster or chiefhogskin48 mentioned it on the ESPN boards, but I know I had lurked around this site before...

Bandit/Bufford:

I saw this place listed on a gay porno site next to the "Eskimo love slave" option.

No, that wasn't it...

RF4L:

I think I was running a search for mail-order brides and "extremeskins" came up.

Nope, that wasn't it either.

Kefka:

This site is actually built on an old Indian burial ground and is haunted...

Oh well, the main thing is that I found this place! The best Redskins site on the net

I don't recall anyone going by that name. If he was there much I would probably remember, but it doesn't strike a chord.

IAMBG,

We do kind of take donations. We sold shirts at a profit to the site to support the site. Also, if you contact Die Hard or Blade privately you could donate anything you feel comfortable with. We just don't ask for it. Obviously as we continue to grow -- and we're already the largest fan site there is -- the greater help we get the better, but, that's a decision every person here should know they can decide on their own and not be hammered every five minutes to buy something or to give something.
