ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -- A paintball shot in the groin left rookie LaRon Landry unable to practice when the Washington Redskins opened their minicamp Friday.

The No. 6 overall pick in this year's draft was injured during a team-building outing Wednesday, when coach Joe Gibbs allowed the players to leave early at the end of the voluntary spring workouts. Some players went bowling or had lunch together, while many of the defensive players went to play paintball.

"I didn't know paintball was that dangerous," linebacker Marcus Washington said. "I hope it wasn't friendly fire."

All I know is he is one lucky man to just have a surface wound. I play paintball and have taken one in the pair and it is a terrible terrible feeling.

Ouch. I play paintball and those things will generally be going around 290 fps. Even getting hit with a couple of layers on can give you a decent bruise; in sensitive spots even more so. "Little LaRon" must not be very happy right now.

i didnt know his injury at first was caused from paintball.

i got shot in the leg about an inch below where he got hit. i thanked god for helping me out of that one.

he'll be fine in a few days.

I have heard of rookie initiations but that is ridiculous.

Oh well no way to humble a man then trick him into the woods and shoot him in the nads. I guess Sean Taylor is a little pissed about LL upcoming contract, well maybe he used to be. I heard they worked that **** out now, probably unrelated.
