Cornerback Shawn Springs is among the inactive players for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. Springs has been slowed by a hamstring injury in recent weeks.

The decision to deactivate Springs comes as a mild surprise, because he practiced two days last week and he was listed on the injury report as probable heading into Sunday's game.

Team officials said Springs's hamstring worsened on Saturday, so it was decided to rest the 10-year NFL veteran.

Kenny Wright will start in place of Springs, opposite Carlos Rogers. Wright started six games earlier this season as Springs recuperated from a groin injury.

The Redskins' secondary will also be without safety Troy Vincent, who was also declared inactive. Vincent has also been slowed by a hamstring injury. It's expected that Vernon Fox will start in place of Vincent.

The Redskins' complete list of inactive players is as follows: wide receivers Mike Espy and David Patten, Springs, Vincent, linebacker Khary Campbell, offensive lineman Taylor Whitley and tight end Brian Kozlowski.

Campbell, the Redskins' leading tackler on special teams, suffered a hamstring injury in last week's 17-13 victory over the Carolina Panthers.

I think he could actually go but they are resting him because ATL isnt that good of passing team as far as recievers are concerned....

Its better to have him healthy against New Orleans,Rams,Giants, than the falcons..

We can get it done without him....

You know what, **** Shawn Springs. At some point that bama is going to have to play hurt. Your hamstring hurts, your muther ****ing hamstring you ***** ass ****. This team is trying to fight it out and he can't go because of a tweaked hamstring. This is a veteran that needs to show the other guys how to be tough. Shawn Springs is a *****.

I'm tired of it. You know who is willing to play hurt in this league and Shawn Springs just won't do it for you. I can only imagine what Sean Taylor's body must feel like right now but you can't get him out of the game. He is old school and Shawn Springs is a *****. If he truly believed that this team could go places wouldn't he play? He is a girl or he doesn't think that the team can go places. Either way it makes him a a-hole.
