stwasm
Earlier this afternoon, someone started a thread that had an awesome picture of Saturn directly in front of the sun. I'm trying to find that thread so I can use the pic for my desktop, but I can't locate it. Can anyone help? Thanks!
mjah
I found one in front of fluorescent lights instead of the sun. Will this work for you?

stwasm
Is this it? Acutally, no. It was a picture taken by a satellite orbitting the planet. Saturn was directly in front of the sun and in the upper left-hand corner of one of the rings was the planet earth. Does that ring a bell with anyone? ashburnskinsfan
From APOD ... Pale Blue Orb - Earth from Saturn What's that pale blue dot in this image taken from Saturn? Earth. The robotic Cassini spacecraft looked back toward its old home world earlier this month as it orbited Saturn. Using Saturn itself to block the bright Sun, Cassini imaged a faint dot on the right of the above photograph. Vast water oceans make Earth's reflection of sunlight somewhat blue. Earth is home to over six billion humans and over one octillion Prochlorococcus. http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap060927.html http://photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/tiff/PIA08324.tif

chomerics
Chomerics will know, he is the spaceman. Actually I didn't, and I am still perplexed by the image called Saturn on the Sun. . . I thought of Cassini, but I didn't know the picture existed. . .It is very cool indeed!!!! As for the first pic. . .It came from us and Chandra, but I am assuming it was from a flare, as Chandra is in a high elliptical orbit (almost 1/3rd the way to the moon) and is nowhere near Saturn. stwasm
There's no planet earth in that pic! Actually, at the 10 o'clock position of one of the outer-most ring, there's a small dot that IS the planet earth.

As seen in Tuesday Morning Quarterback on espn.com... lol BTW- That picture looks so clear that it almost looks fake.
