end of season CBS Power Rankings

They had a heck of a year in 2005, but don't you get the feeling it will be a struggle to repeat that? Spending money on assistants doesn't overcome a talent issue.

http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/9233607

man we can't get away from the hate. at least we are better than the cowboys (by one??). it always seems that the constructive logic that they apply to our team is missing. what talent issue? an issue at quarterback, i suppose, but nothing worse than what we overcame this year.

i know they don't mean anything and we'll win the superbowl next year, but it's just silly that we moved into the "sort of good middle of the pack" after beating a team ranked a good five spots ahead of us who we beat in the playoffs, not to mention a couple others that didn't even make it.

One has to wonder how a team we swept in '05, Philly, and a team we beat in the playoffs, Tampa, got ranked ahead of us. It is also an interesting question how NY got in front of us, considering how we beat them Chirstmas Eve and got further in the playoffs than them.

Well, at least they ranked us ahead of Dallas.

Let's see:

1. Gibbs has lost his way.

2. Brunell is Washed Up.

3. Synder Spends Too Much on Assistants

3. Clinton Portis isn't a good fit.

4. They had something to do with Cheaney Shooting the Lawyer

5. They won't approve the stadium lease deal for the Nationals

Always something.

I think we're better off when the media disses us, but those rankings are just stupid. The Dolphins are #8 b/c of Saban's great staff, but Gibbs' staff can't overcome talent issues? Gotcha.

great point.

are the dolphins more talented than the skins? can't say i know much about them, but i would doubt it.

Pete Prisco picked the Raiders to win Super Bowl XL

http://cbs.sportsline.com/nfl/story/8816732

As you can see, he is wrong on every single division winner as well

He picked the Ravens to be in the playoffs, he picked the SAINTS to be in the playoffs (mind this article is dated 9/7.. a full week after Katrina had struck... which makes him three times as stupid, in my book.)

Of his predictions, the only one he's even remotely close on is the Step Back team being the Chargers.

AFC East: Patriots, Bills, Jets, Dolphins.

AFC South: Jaguars, Colts, Texans, Titans.

AFC North: Steelers, Ravens, Bengals, Browns.

AFC West: Raiders, Chiefs, Broncos, Chargers.

NFC East: Eagles, Giants, Cowboys, Redskins.

NFC South: Panthers, Falcons, Saints, Bucs.

NFC North: Vikings, Bears, Packers, Lions.

NFC West: Cardinals, Rams, Seahawks, 49ers.

AFC wild cards: Colts, Ravens.

NFC wild cards: Falcons, Saints.

AFC Championship Game: Raiders over Jaguars.

NFC Championship Game: Eagles over Panthers.

Super Bowl: Raiders over Eagles.

Individual awards

MVP: Randy Moss, Raiders. Watch the amazing numbers he puts up in the Oakland system. With the Raiders the choice to win it all, somebody has to be the MVP. Moss is that guy. Watch how much the Vikings miss him.

Offensive player of the year: Moss. He will have 100 catches and 16 touchdowns. And make us that love the deep passing game and smile a lot.

Defensive player of the year: Julius Peppers, Carolina. He's poised to put up huge sack numbers. Could the sack record be ready to fall?

Coach of the year: Dennis Green, Cardinals. The Cardinals will win the NFC West, which is quite a feat for a franchise that has had so many losing seasons. That's good enough to get Green coach of the year.

Offensive rookie of the year: Kyle Orton. The Chicago Bears rookie is a favorite of ours. He has the look of someone special.

Defensive rookie of the year: Mike Patterson, DT, Eagles. We've loved this guy for a long time, so we're sticking with him. He's a big reason the Eagles let Corey Simon walk.

Most-improved player: Bob Sanders, S, Colts. He'll be going to the Pro Bowl if he stays healthy.

Comeback player of the year: Steve McNair, QB, Titans. He'll bounce back from an injury-plagued season to have a Pro Bowl type year. He'll need to because the Titans are so young.

Step-back player: Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Steelers. Something isn't right. In 2004, he was being billed as the next great quarterback. So far this summer, he has looked awful. He's better than that, but he isn't nearly as good as his press clippings from 2004 just yet.

Step-back team: San Diego Chargers. They had a great season in 2004, but the feeling here is that it was more of an aberration than a trend. I still have questions about Drew Brees.

Team on the rise: Arizona Cardinals. They will win the NFC West. But it will be the defense that plays a bigger part in it than people expect.

Best free-agent pickup: Kurt Warner, QB, Cardinals. He is far from washed up. You wait and see.

Worst free-agent pickup: Sammy Knight, S, Chiefs. Teams will throw over the top of him a bunch. He's a big hitter who doesn't have good cover skills.

How does this clown hold a job? How does CBS expect anyone to take them seriously when they continue to put out drivel from this idiot?

He should be selling carpet.

For the record, in our BangCartoon podcast due out tomorrow, we play a LOT of audio of the clowns from ESPN and CBS making their preseason predictions.

Of ALL of the analysts from ESPN, CBS, Fox and other assorted experts, the ONLY ONE who picked the Steelers to win the Super Bowl was.... also the only guy who even picked them to be in it.

You'll have to listen to find out.

and if you do, you'll get to hear fun stuff like Mike Ditka laughing heartily in Steve Young's face when Young says the Seahawks will win the west. He laughs and declares Arizona is coming out of the west, and that is that.

Listen tomorrow, and you'll get it all

did i miss something here.. except for one game, we were in every game..

do we have some wholes to fill, sure.. every team does..

but WTF with overcoming talent issues?

Seriously, All our secondary except Ade Jimoh were top 15 picks. We have Lavar Arrington and Marcus Washington which are Pro-Bowl Linebackers and we have one of the best D-Lineman in the League in Cornelius Griffin.

Then we have Chris Cooley, Santana Moss, and Clinton Portis who all broke redskins records this season and a Pro-Bowl lineman in Chris Samuels and a Pro-Bowl Caliber lineman in Randy Thomas along with a top 10 pick lineman in Derrick Dockery.

Head Coach: Joe Gibbs

Offensive Coordinater: Al Saunders

Defensive Coordinater: Gregg Williams

Special Teams Coordinater: Danny Smith

Offensive Line Coach: Joe Bugel

Secondary Coach: John Gray

Running Backs Coach: Earnest Byner

Right...no talent and hiring this and last season coaches is straight up retarded.

Guys we could of gone to the Super Bowl last year, all we needed was a number 2 reciever, a new scheme, and Randy Thomas to be healthy. Right now we have a new scheme in Al Saunders. All we need now is the Number 2 Reciever and Randy Thomas should be fine.

how about the fact that the Skins beat every NFC division winner. Including the Seahawks. Not only that, isn't this supposed to take into account how the team was playing at the end of the season - how about winning seven in a row? The Giants missed a chance to win the division against us and then got lucky against nervous Norv in the last week of the season. After all those missed opportunities they were shutout at HOME in the PLAYOFFS!!!!

no way they deserve to be more highly ranked than the skins.
