Pourdanesh
I don't remember whether it was a reverse or an end-around (that may be what stick's getting at?) ... but yea, we got like 10% of our yards on that Moss play
Redskins4ever
The reverse is a good play when you know for certain the defense isn't expecting it. When you run it too much the defense will shut it down. Back in the day when Clark, Sanders, and Monk ran it, defenses were average. That's not the case any more. asnpcwiz
If you plan to run a reverse right now it'd probably be with Santana Moss...if you haven't noticed he's getting double covered.
Riggo-toni
Reverses don't work well anymore for the same reason the counter trey is seldom effective- defenses are much, much faster now than they were even just 10 years ago.
Stick27
cool thanks for all the impute , ya i saw the game on saturday but must have missed that play as i was cooking the Hot Dogs up , But I see we need the speed to run it & we dont have it like in the Posse Years
China
Reverses don't work well anymore for the same reason the counter trey is seldom effective- defenses are much, much faster now than they were even just 10 years ago. I guess that's why Carolina's Steve Smith scored on one this weekend. Reverses are a high-risk, high-reward play. When called at the right time and executed properly (blocked well), they still work. Not to mention they are useful to "keep a defense honest" to slow down pursuit to one side and so they don't cheat over to one side too much. kevinklein
Was it an end around or a reverse?
Beaudry
it was an end around.
ChiefPowhatan17
Reverse would only work with Moss or Brown, you have to be really fast to pull that off.:logo::logo::logo:
Jordash
he's used the end around a bunch but a double reverse from moss to brown would be A-MAZING
scuppajones
Reverse would only work with Moss or Brown, you have to be really fast to pull that off.:logo::logo::logo: I agree we should definitely run it with Moss or Brown. I also would like to see Moss returning a punt this weekend.
DCBnG21
he's used the end around a bunch but a double reverse from moss to brown would be A-MAZING You're right, that would be something to just see the speed heading each way.... It would still have to be executed well, but that seems like enough speed to catch someone of their guard.
JoeKnowsBest
The problem with Brown getting it is he might fumble. And he can't catch, so they aren't going to respect that. Moss is really the only logical option. Although Jacobs may be able to pull it off. He's got some speed too. But I do love it as a way to get the ball into Moss's hands. LOOPSKIN28
As much as defenses are keying on Portis, I'm surprised our reverses haven't been more successful. At least they got 10 yds or so out of it in Tampa, perhaps the execution is finally coming around...
Darth Tater
Gibbs primarily uses the end-around and the reverse (you use that less because you usually just want the best ball handler to handle the handoffs) to make the opposing defenses stay at home. spm
Thrash has had a very nice career of running reverses and end arounds. I think he would also make a good option.
#98QBKiller
I think we could potentially see a flea-flicker.
cjcdaman
I think we want to establish the run first. You just can't come out running reverses. You have to make the defense scared of the run, and then run it. I also like the play and think it should be ran at least once a game.
