Texas is finally catching the winter spirit:

ARCTIC AIRMASS TO INVADE NORTH TEXAS TODAY...BRINGING FRIGID

TEMPERATURES AND WIND CHILLS...ALONG WITH A MIX OF WINTRY

PRECIPITATION ACROSS A MAJORITY OF THE REGION.

AREAS OF LIGHT FREEZING RAIN OR DRIZZLE...MIXED WITH SLEET OR SNOW

ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP BY MIDDAY AND CONTINUE THROUGH TONIGHT. A

WINTRY MIXTURE OF PREDOMINANTLY SLEET AND SNOW IS EXPECTED BY

LATE AFTERNOON...BEFORE CHANGING TO ALL SNOW TONIGHT. TOTAL

ACCUMULATIONS OF SLEET OR SNOW TO 1 INCH ARE EXPECTED BY THURSDAY

MORNING...WITH ISOLATED AMOUNTS TO 2 INCHES POSSIBLE. THIS WILL

MAKE TRAVELING TODAY VERY HAZARDOUS. EXTREME CAUTION IS ADVISED

WHEN VENTURING OUT LATER TODAY AND TONIGHT.

FUTHERMORE...GUSTY NORTH AND NORTHEAST WINDS BETWEEN 15 AND 25 MPH

WILL RESULT IN BITTER COLD WIND CHILLS IN THE SINGLE DIGITS AND

TEENS BY THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT. WEAR SEVERAL LAYERS OF

CLOTHING WHEN VENTURING OUT TODAY AND TONIGHT.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW...SLEET...OR

FREEZING RAIN WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR

SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE

DRIVING.

Wednesday Night: Overcast and cold; a little evening rain followed by a bit of snow, sleet, and freezing rain late. Winds from the N at 14 mph. Low: 26° F RealFeel: 13° F

This is very cold for this Texas girl!!

Blondie

Cold by enjoyable. Finally feels like Christmas time down here.

Hmmm. I could be off the hook for bringing snow with me.....

*

Or at least a smaller cooler of it. ;) ( keeping in mind that in the past week the fellows a few miles down the road are saying we got nearly 5' of the stuff....somebody say Puerto Rico? ).

As long as you don't have to drive in it, hope you get some.

Would that raise the temp and give us more rain? Or, will it stay cold and make more snow?

The temps will stay below freezing at the surface, so any rain we see will be freezing rain.

As that second storm gets cranked up, it'll draw in warmer air off the ocean. Warmer air aloft. That's what'll change some places to sleet and freezing rain. Most places should stay below freezing at the surface though.

Well the forecast was crap again.... we got maybe 1.5" which by about 6:30-7:00 was already halfway melted. All the roads were clear all the way into town, although you still had to worry about the spazzards (people driving 10 mph with their hazard lights on) and the general public that has no idea how to drive in this...

Timmy! Its nice near BWI?

Good, I have a flight at 1:20 from there today. I was wondering what fell north.

Over hear, were got maybe 3 inches, but its heavy wet snow that will just slide off your car.

Its perfectly fine out near bwi. Depending on where you are going im sure there are going to be delays but not because of anything out this way.

I am starting to wonder if the weathermen/women in this area could ever predict anything accurate even if they waited to it finished and used a ruler

how on earth do they keep their jobs, the sad thing is the day after Bob Ryan is no where to be found

3 inches or so of heavy wet snow in Frederick with an inch of ice on the bottom. The local streets were still snow covered when I left at 8 this morning, but I-270 South was just wet with little traffic, so my commute was actually faster than usual.

I did pass a jack-knifed tractor trailer on I-270 North in Germantown this morning that was blocking that entire side of the highway -- one car at a time could get by using the shoulder.
