Leonard Washington
i just remembered that mccants didn't look too good on saturday. he had several drops and one of them would have resulted in a TD or first and goal at the 1. in his defense, brunell was throwing it to him. any comments in the battle between dyson, thrash (did he play?), and mccants? GAME 1: 2 catches 22yds 2 drops Game 2: 1 catch 7ds no drops
Walking Deadman
Somebody said something about McCants having stitches in his hand....maybe that's why he dropped passes? How did Dyson play?

I know people dont like Brunell so to speak on this site, but his passes were on the mark (no pun intended) It's obvious his hand is really hurting him. Before the game they showed him and Rod Gardner on the 50 discussing his hand and looking at the stitches.

SlobberKnockinFootball
But if I remember correctly last year he was basically saying that he could catch anything. He just needed an opportunity. Well, last night he did and I don't think he fared that well. Dyson had a nice shoelace catch. Don't remember seeing his number called that often. skins0128
Well if McCants gets cut, it will just give him more time for his music and painting careers.
fdarugar
Dyson played well, McCants looked like a bum.

Let's see how well you could catch passes in an NFL game with stitches on your hand. I have a good idea of who would be the bum then:shhh:
Hooper
McCants is young, has upside, and both Brunell and Ramsey look for him when he's in the game. He makes it over Dyson -- who looked good against corners who won't make the panthers -- because of those things I think.
Mr. Grundle
If he has stitches in his hand and can't catch then he shouldn't be playing. I watched one play when we were in the red zone where he didn't even run his route, he just kinda jogged towards the endzone while Brunell was scrambling for his life and had to dump it off to someone else. If you're gonna play through pain then do it and don't be a drama queen about it. This kind of attitude is why Dyson makes the team and he doesn't. dreamingwolf
first off I dont think Mccants will ever be poor. I also heard about the hand thing, and I willing to cut him some slack for that. He seems to be playing with alot of heart, so lets give him some time before we call for the turk.

zoony
One of the best things about the Gibbs era, in my opininon, is that we are guaranteed that the best players will make the roster. If McCants is worthy of a roster spot, he will be there. 'nuff said.
skins0128
Yeah I knew about the hand, I found it somewhat shocking that the coaches let him go out there. Could have been to test how tough he is though, that may have scored McCants some points with the coaches.
Leonard Washington
hand or not, if you're cleared to be on the field you're supposed to make plays. don't get me wrong i'm a mccants fan, but he's gotta make those catches. it seemed that brunell was looking for him alot at the beginning of the second half. i hope the coaching staff can sympathize with his condition. dyson did make a nice sideline catch. KingTaylor22
McCants looked shakey.. I still hope he makes this team though. He can be a playmaker.
Ricky Ervins
Of note, regarding McCants: I was listening to the beginning of the game on radio due to the fact I was in the car still... One of the announcers (Sonny, I think) said to "watch out" for McCants because he has been "really coming on as a threat on special teams." He didnt really elaborate on why/how he was a threat. I think that is a good sign. I think as the preseason goes on, its gonna become more and more apparent that there is a need for a big possesion receiver on this team. McCants can get open. He has showed that throughout his career. We need him on this team.
skinsngibbs4life
Dyson looked alright on Saturday. I don't ever remember either of them being to spectacular. but, I think Dmac should make the team just so we can have a little bit of hieght for our recievers. He should be able to play a big part in our redzone offense. I'm sorry, Ijust don't see santana moss running a fade route from the 5 yard line

Joe Sick
I really hope that stitches were the reason McCants dropped at least two balls. Can't really use it as an excuse, as he must have been making catches in practice to justify playing him. I thought Dyson looked very good. Would like to see him with the starters / against the 1st team D.
lead commander
mccants still has sticthes in is hand,he can catch a floater, but any pass with velocity he cant grab...i like mccants..i would take him over dyson..[.
The Sisko
Unfortunately the way I see it playing out is that McCants gets cut over Dyson who plays well for a few games then gets hurt. In the meantime, McCants goes to a WCO team (Fecals??) and has a respectable season. Just call me the optimist.
RDSKNfaithfull
Mcants may be moving up the depth chart in the Coaches minds. I was surprised to see him out there so early. I was shocked to see Dyson out there playing with practice dummies
