  1. We need to keep covid injury rules. I loved the short term IR. Good for the players, good for the team, good for the fans. No reason that ever needs to go away. It was crazy it took a pandemic to be implemented
  2. If the goal is to trade for an elite QB, can't discount the fact that Watson in an AFC QB. I can't imagine how much harder it would be to get Rodgers or Wilson to stay in the NFC, especially if they don't have a no trade clause.
  3. If you build your team before getting a young QB, I'm not sure it would be in their best interest to sit, barring you don't acquire a super raw prospect. If you go into a young QBs year 1 and know off the bat that you can protect him with a solid/good/great Oline, a productive run game to take pressure off of him and an elite D to cover for his mistakes, it would probably be best to get him out there early and let him develop right? Time on the bench, especially behind a good mentor, can always be a boon, but if you got the squad built it is probably better to just go trial by fire IMO.
  4. Methodically consistent about attacking balls in the air with this hands. Even passes that would hit him in the numbers he reaches out and snatches rather than letting it come all the way into the body. Gives him a bit more of a constant catch bubble, rather than a catch radius. Also gives him a fraction of a second more time to get down if needed on crossing routes, something he seems to already know to do. If he can start attacking balls with his whole body as well when the situation arises, he will be pretty good at contested catches on the NFL level.
  5. Certainly another situation that you have to keep eyeballs on. Between Watson, Rodgers and Wilson the chance of landing an elite QB over the course of the next year is within a conceivable realm of possibility. Not very likely, but possible at least. Only 1/3 is an AFC QB tho, so that hurts
  6. I think this guy has an abnormal Proprioception (sense that allows us to know exactly where our body parts are in space and in relation to one another) When you watch his tape, whenever he swivels his upper body around to track and catch a generally on target pass while in a sprint, his stride does not change... like at all. That continues through the catch as well. No unnecessary bunny hop, no hitch, nothing. Just carries his same motion through the reception. Its so fluid and natural looking. The momentum he has when he first swivels his hips is the same as when he makes the reception and exits to a normal running stance. If the pass is on target, and you only had video of this guys legs running, you would almost be unable to tell when he swiveled his body to make a catch. Its pretty to watch. I also think its a big part of his ball tracking ability. It is a quality we see a lot out of Terry, where catching a ball does not slow him down. If he has separation on a slant or cutting route, he maintains that separation through the catch allowing for YAC opportunities. A lot of our guys last year didn't share this trait. Dy is so fluid in this movement, it gives me a lot of hope towards a excelling with a more complete route tree in his future.
  7. And then it goes horribly wrong and the guy drafted to be an impact S. Teams player never gets to even sniff that phase of football ala Terry. Or is that something going horribly right.... gotta find a mad scientist for context. anyways, yes we target high profile S.T. guys
  8. On top of that, dude has logged stupid ST reps in college. He is going to be a core member of our unit for years. Every team needs guys like this dude. In two years he might just be Niles Paul.
  9. They clearly were reaching for specific needs and holes in this draft and our TE2 last year (Sprinkle) was a big bodied guy who was expected to take a pounding while blocking and rarely go out for passes. This new guy slides into that role day one, with the potential to grow beyond it. Considering how poorly Sprinkle performed in his role, I think its safe to think the new guy will be an upgrade very quickly. They were clearly not looking for any kind of weapon here, just a player who gives us the chance to continue to run the kind of offense we are looking to employ. If he is a regular contributor as a blocker both on O and ST, that is great value for where he was picked. Unlike an UDFA, he is on a rookie contract now so we will now have that roll filled for the next 4yrs, as opposed to 3
  10. It takes time for cheese to undergo fermentation. Everyone likes the end result but no one wants to watch it get made.
  11. I think this thread is making me lactose intolerant Good stuff
  12. They are bringing this guy in for one reason and one reason only. To try and develop him to pave roads. I don't think Eifert is anywhere near this guys 250lbs. Just by size profile alone a guy like him wont be able to provide what they are clearly looking for in the new guy. They are not looking for pass catching prowess. This guy will be able to really help on teams and possibly provide us with a player that can relieve Logan of some critical obvious blocking situations. Its not sexy, but when our FGs stopped getting blocked and Thomas is healthy every week b/c he does not have to throw his body around blocking on goal line runs it will be worth it.
  13. Dude has the size profile you want in an in-line TE. With his build distribution he has the potential to do some things Logan Thomas can not. Coach him up and he can be a great blocker. We can certainly use that. Pencil him in as TE2 and see what he can do
  14. Stocked to grab an outside boundary threat, needed that badly to better complement Terry. I don't care if he is a one trick pony right now, that one trick is all I need from him at this stage. I like the pick.
  15. After this pick I am pretty confident who's stopwatch read 4.37 at UKs Pro Day
  16. Feels a little like we bought a body. At least they got a good one. We have guys who are well equipped to teach him the ins and outs, match that with this athlete and you have something special. Watching him grow and develop behind this D-line will be fun. He will be lined up for success.
  17. The draft will wriggle a few of those guys loose as players become more expendable when their cheap replacements hit the roster. Maybe we could absorb a guy
  18. Would have been beyond stupid not to be one of those eight teams at the time. Just confirms what a lot of us already knew.
  19. Be hard pressed to get more than a 3rd from me. Unless we move Brandon that would be absorbing a lot of cash in a very short amount of time plus Julio will hold out next year to rework his deal for more money if he even remotely performs. ATL caved every time on that front
  20. Most effective if done beforehand. It allows the more influencial players (i.e. the uncuttable ones) to provide shelter for the fringe roster players, who may have desired to not attend, but would have due to their unsecured status. Strengthens the brotherhood as all the players are looking out for one another. By presenting it in this manner, no one has pressure to show. Takes the majority of power out of the teams hands and gives it to the players. Seriously doubt this is the last team/instance to do something like this. This will go down accross the NFL. In the same manner you could not force MLB players to be warded off from their families for an full length MLB season, you can't ask an NFL player to ward himself off from his familiy just to attend a "voluntary" workout. There are people that have comprimised immunne systems all over the world. We had one at Head Coach last year. There are people that are unable to recieve vaccinations due to medical conditions. Others are straight up allergic. Kids cant get vaccines yet. Stuff like that is exactly why the NFLPA even exsists. When there is actual money to be made, things will be more heated, but right now this is railroaded in favor of the NFLPA.
  21. Its gonna be a while before he can do anything other than "monster go get football" in goal-line situations. I'm cool w/ him as a TE3, learning the ropes and growing over time, but I'd have no expectations that this guy can develop even decent blocking, alignment and recognition skills needed to pick up heat in a live game anytime soon. Switching protections, handing off rushers, there are guys with years in the league that struggle with that stuff. I like that. If he can contribute there, he has a great opportunity to hang around and learn. I'm pulling for em
