  1. I don’t think he was inaccurate. He had everything you’d want physically, other than durability. He just didn’t process at an NFL level. Once he couldn’t warp defensive schemes with his legs, he was unable to quickly go through reads and distribute the ball as efficiently as say, Cousins.
  2. i agree with the posters saying that both Maye and Daniels could wind up being great and that its not necessarily that if you pick one and not the other that you’re going to, “miss”. I feel like people aren’t bringing up something that I think could be possible. If New England prefers Maye and we prefer Daniels, we might be able to move down just one spot while adding significant assets. I think I’d rather just stay at 2 and take Maye, but for those that want Daniels, I think that is the dream scenario.
  3. You’re using hindsight. I’m not sure that the scouting community wouldn’t have considered RG3 to be comparable to Burrow. He was considered by some to be better than Luck, who was as good or a better prospect than Burrow. Again, none of this is my evaluation. It’s the draft community perceived things.
  4. I like Daniel’s. RG3 had a much, much better arm. That has to be a serious difference in their evaluations. And, a lot of people hate of RG3 and the trade that brought him here. It looked like a no brainer, slam dunk success, until the injuries.
  5. I know trade ups are unpopular here. If we draft Maye, I would consider moving up for JPJ. I think strengthening the middle of the line would be super helpful for a rookie QB that has better mechanics from a clean pocket. If we sign someone like Robert Hunt, we could feature an IOL of Cosmi, JPJ, and Hunt. That's a lot of super high quality talent and would give us potentially one of the best IOL's in the league. If we could add a right tackle in FA or the draft we would feature a massively upgraded OL and QB.
  6. He's 6'4" and 230 and you just don't see him taking big hits. I'm honestly not sure who I prefer between the two. I want to like the huge, classical pocket passer who already can work the middle of the field. It's hard to argue with how good Daniels was last year, but I thought the same thing about Fields. I will say, I don't think Fields had the same downfield accuracy. Everyone loves Daniels as a runner, but I think my second favorite thing about Daniels is the release. It's such a quick, smooth, compact release, and it is so consistent. Just beautiful. We are going to keep learning more about these guys as the process goes on. I hope they both throw at the combine. I want to see how they measure. Their interviews and the eval of their football IQ and work ethic is going to be critical. I think I feel safer with Maye, but I'd be happy with whichever one we settle on. I do think there is still a chance that we offer a big package to move up. Also, everyone keeps referencing Mahommes as the Williams comp. That's like saying someone is going to be Brady or Manning. They better be an Andrew Luck if you're going to say that. I do frequently look at Williams and think his floor is Baker Mayfield with better wheels and arm talent. I can see some parallels in style. And I don't think that would be the worst outcome.
  7. How much do the 32 and 7/8 arms bother you at RT?
  8. Holy ****. Is it just me, or does it look like he is running awkardly, in slow motion in this video? I know that Young was a great athlete, IRL, but this video looks like Sam Howell lucked into a big run. The eras are just different. That is not a Lamar Jackson, Jayden Daniels, Michael Vick type run.
  9. I feel like we are going to be a premium destination for defensive free agents. This coaching staff is really going to sell.
  10. It is a little worrisome, but I think part of that is the dearth of pics. They have traded away just so many pics between McAffrey and Trey Lance, that they have had to really spread around the remaining pics. I am excited to see what he can do with more than a full slot of draft pics.
  11. If we are thinking about roster construction, there was a lot of defense played in the Super Bowl last night. A lot of good DL pressure and a lot of good LB and secondary play.
  12. Someone in the past few pages asked if we could trade down and still get Daniels. We could trade down with NE, if they really want Maye. But if we want Maye, we should take him.
  13. Was watching some Coleman basketball highlights. They are Drew League type stuff, wide open, not really representative of real basketball, more All Star show boating type stuff, but he is a real, real, athlete. He has the feeling to me of a WR the Steelers would draft in the 4th and turn into an absolute steal. I wouldn't mind doing the same. I wouldn't take him early though.
  14. Chase was looking really good for us and then disappeared on the 9'ers. I'm happy for him that he is getting this super bowl performance. I would sign him, if not for the knee. But, he is never going to be the player he could have been and this team doesn't need the connection to that past. I'd take both Huff and Danielle Hunter, though.
  15. What's an example of this? It takes more than one missed 1st round pick to get you stuck. People miss on 1st round picks all the time. Passing on a QB that would have stabilized your franchise, or, choosing the wrong one? This is what get's a franchise stuck.
  16. Is it crazy to think about us signing Bryce Huff AND Danielle Hunter? We have the dollars to do it. That and a MIKE, and we suddenly can go all in on offense in the draft. Enormously improved defense, OL, and QB situation in one offseason.
  17. Honestly, I'd take Jay Gruden as OC over some of these guys. He is not a good HC. But, we have seen 1st hand that he can scheme receivers open, develop a young QB, and run a successful offense if he has weapons. He also would likely not get poached. Ever.
  18. Yes. and exactly. Who cares? How many other teams got their exact first choice hire? Just the Chargers? The results are what matter. If Quinn brings in a great staff and we develop a quarterback and win, then, great. Literally the only reason I wanted Ben Johnson so badly is that I thought he was the best guy to design an offense from the ground up to successfully bring along and develop a rookie QB. I didn't think he was the best guy for building a staff and winning games. If we can develop our rookie QB, I'll be perfecntly happy with Quinn, and he will probably win more games than a Ben Johnson type guy. But, we have to develop that QB successfully.
  19. I'm not saying he isn't worth that, but he isn't worth that to us, and it really is QB money. You can find WR's all through the draft. I'd be saving my money for positions where it is harder to find guys. OT. Edge. Etc.
  20. I'm not sure how to feel about Xavier Legette's measurements and relatively por senior bowl showing. On one hand, I think he probably drops to us. On the other, I wonder if I had him over rated based on how tall I thought he was.
  21. I think this might partially be a case of a GM looking at the potential to build a team from the ground up with a ton of picks and money and a high end rookie QB. And the potential coaches looking and seeing an unfinished roster without high end talent or an established QB, and thinking that we may be 2y away from being a safe bet for a coaching career. Maybe.
  22. I hope JPP does fall and we can grab him. looking at the OT measurements, another guy that was extremely disappointing is Jordan Morgan. His arm length was 32 and 7/8. How much do you think Fuaga’s length is going to hurt him (33 and 3/8)?
  23. Does the Rooney rule apply when hiring coordinators? Also, I can't wait for this to be done, so we can all start wringing our hands about who the DC is. Then which QB we are drafting at 2. It's awesome for us to get a new owner, GM, HC, and franchise QB in 1 year. Almost unheard of. That being said, I can't wait until we have normal discussions about FA and the draft next year.
