I would be 100% behind this if they really thought Levis was their guy.

Brissett's starts starting with the season Luck went down with a shoulder injury:
2017:
2019 (after Luck's retirement):
2021 (injury to Tua):
2022 (spot starter in Cleveland):
Brissett's best year was in 2019 when he had to fill in for the unexpected retired Luck. He's okay to meh over long stretches. He's decent enough in the occasional spot start. And I stand by my previous contention that if he wins the competition in training camp, that's a huge red flag with regards to Howell. Because unlike some in the media who continue to toot the "he was a 5th rounder, historically they never work out" horn, I think his fall to us was a blessing in disguise.

Clayton Tune will be a steal for a team. IMO, his floor is solid backup. Ceiling is an unknown, but there is massive upside to drafting him in a later round.

Rivera and everyone that doesn’t think he’s a bumbling idiot are nimrods and you are the beacon of truth sent here to humble the masses
Thank you for admitting it.

I said "from watching them".
Advanced states from last year. Your keen eye for talent on quarterbacks, after spending the entire offseason of 2022 trying to will the ghost of Carson Wentz into existence, remains unmatched.

I watched a few Browns games and a few Heinicke games an there is a clear difference between the two.
Brissett is a low level starter. Heini is a low level back up in the XFL.
"Clear difference between the two"...where?
If you hate Heinicke, fine. He's gone. But propping up Brissett like this is some genius level move by Rivera in the case that Howell fails is delusional nonsense.

L-M-A-O at the sudden surge of optimism signing Jacoby Brissett. Coming from the same people who thought Heinicke was a loser who was not clutch. And no, I didn't care if Heinicke was back and was on board with Minshew or Dalton. Ya'll better hope Howell is the answer. Or if you hate Rivera and want him gone, maybe not.

Wouldn’t be odd and disingenuous to see how things work, yet relieve him of those duties?
If they really thought he was going to retire or they wanted Bieniemy to hire his own guy, why wait?
Two weeks ago, at the NFL combine, the team used at least 19 of its 45 formal interviews on offensive linemen — a focal point of this offseason — and Matsko led many of those meetings. On Monday, the first day of legal tampering in free agency, the team agreed to deals with linemen Andrew Wylie and Nick Gates, according to multiple people familiar with the negotiations.

Why?
It makes total sense to me that if you have someone talented and well thought of, give it a shot and see if it will work.
A lot of guys would just start canning everyone immediately to bring in their own guys.
Because they had the guy participate in interviews of potential free agent signings only to can him 2 days later. He participated in the combine as well.

As someone that isn't optimistic about EB, this looks like a red flag.
It 100% is.

Brisssett ain't coming here for cheaper than that.
-
Matt Ryan getting $12 million regardless next year could be a factor to signing him to a cheap one year deal.
-
I totally forgot about Cooper Rush. Teddy Bridgewater would be a no for me solely for injury concerns. If I had a crystal ball and could guarantee he would never see the field, I coudl live with Brissett. Minshew is still my #1 pick. I think he's the one that would push Howell the most.

Spot the difference.

If you can't beat Jacoby Brissett in a competition, that's a huge red flag.

I wonder if Flacco is going to retire. Another free agent I completely forgot about. Would not be upset with that move.

Which of the following quarterbacks would you want, based off of their appearances in the last 3 seasons? Here are their averages over the span of a 17 game season (passing top, rushing bottom):
QB 1:
QB 2:
QB 3:
QB 4:
QB 5:
QB 6:

It's really weird that the Colts haven't cut Matt Ryan yet.

I'm trying to imagine the, um..."atmosphere" here if we signed Mayfield lol...
I'd be okay with Mayfield.

It would be the most Washington thing ever to bring back Wentz cheap.
-
Another potential one gone, although I'm not sure there was anyone clamoring for Nick Mullens.
-
Winston signed an $8 million deal. I'd be surprised if Dalton, the guy who started over Winston, is going to sign for less.

If they are truly in the $3-4 million range that's going to eliminate Brissett, Bridgewater, Mayfield, and Mariota.
The Official QB Thread- JD5 taken #2. Randal 2.0 or Bayou Bob? Mariotta and Fromm battle for QB2 and so begins the Handsome Harem for Hartman

If they brought in Brissett as part of soft "competition" for Howell (which, by them reaching out to Henne to see if he'll un-retire seems likely), than I am fine with Brissett being the backup who can come in occasionally if Howell gets dinged up and hold the line.
If they brought in Brissett because they still aren't sold on Howell (and do not draft a quarterback) and have a legitimate competition that Brissett wins, it's going to cause concern for Howell's ability. At least to me anyway.
