You are aware why people like to compare Jones v Haskins correct?

Yes because one quarterback "wink wink come get me Gettleman" was upset that the Giants didn't draft him, and then when a divisional rival did, both fanbases salivated at the opportunity to be the one who "won" the draft lottery.  And I am saying that ironically, both teams probably lost because of A. Haskins more likely than not being off of the team by next season and B. Jones having very similar numbers to Kyle Allen.

So bringing this to Haskins.  Yeah Rivera wasn't the best politician as to explaining his decision.  But I got no doubt it wasn't just some willy nilly benching based on no good reason.  Rivera is fixated on players intangibles and culture.  So players that don't fit that culture I gather don't do well with him.   Haskins reputation for integrity is borderline infalliable.

It's interesting to see how Dallas is imploding with player leaks anonymously calling out their coaches, yet there was none of that here when Rivera benched Haskins.  That's pretty telling.

  3. If over the course of his first 16 games started, Dwayne Haskins (or any other rookie) put these numbers up:

    23 TDs | 16 INTS | 5 Rushing Touchdowns | 8 Fumbles | 62.8 Completion Percentage | 3,803 Yards | | 87.6 Passer Rating

There would be no question that we would not be drafting a quarterback next year and he would be the unquestioned starter.  These are Kyle Allen's stats over his first 16 starts.

Me too, because leaking this stuff provides him absolutely no value.  I can't even comprehend how it would be beneficial for Rivera to depreciate his asset.

Why isn't the new team President, the one tasked with changing the culture, getting any blame for these leaks?  Why does it all fall at Rivera's feet?

The answer to that is obvious: Rivera is the one who benched Haskins.  So he has to be the bad guy in these people's eyes.

This is Tua's first ride.  Keenum was also benched for Haskins last year.

Washington didn't have a shot to win the division last year.  The Dolphins do.  It's not a commentary on anything, just an interesting observation.  Rivera is trying to win a weak division and Flores seems to be ready to get his rookie quarterback some experience.  I'm not sure which one I agree with more.

  6. Brian Flores just benched Ryan Fitzpatrick for Tua.  The Dolphins are currently in 2nd place, 1 game behind the division lead.  Tua is the unknown, whereas you know what you're getting with Fitzpatrick.  It's like the complete opposite of what we are doing with Haskins/Allen, although I'd say that Allen is definitely more unknown than Fitzpatrick.

Cam looked fanatic before he got Covid.

Cam had a worse QBR in week 3 (pre-Covid) than Brian Hoyer did in week 4.  And it declined even more so last week.  Cam would've been the correct choice for this season, IMO.  I don't think we should even consider him for next year until the remainder of the season plays out.

Our problem is that Turner is Rivera's guy.  He sucks at his job and we threw away Haskins for him.  It's something a bad organization would do.

Scott Turner sucking as an offensive coordinator doesn't somehow magically make Haskins somehow good or salvageable.  A bad organization drafts a quarterback at 15 overall because he went to school with the owner's son.

  9. On the plus side, Tress Way only punted once.  He was averaging 6.2 punts per game in the first 5 games.  The offense actually sustained drives and moved the ball for a change...until Allen did the Kyle Allen thing he always does.  I'm more annoyed with how he completely folds under the slightest bit of pressure.  There are times when he moves up in the pocket and/or escapes pressure, and other times where it just seems like his brain shuts down (which is what it looked like with the sack fumble).

Is this RE: my comment about the rumor?

If so: it’s not about that. It’s about Rivera having personnel control, not following what he as the HC wants and letting Scott Turner, an unproven basically rookie OC, have control of personnel. I think that’s a killer mistake (If it’s true).

Just a general thought I've had.  I think we're maybe 2-4 with Cam.

For the life of me I will never understand why Kirk got more hate than Griff.  What did Kirk do?

I'm old enough to remember when Stephen A. Smith literally said that Kirk Cousins would never be accepted in "Chocolate City" live on ESPN and it was barely even acknowledged locally.
