I believe a full week of reps/gameplan as the starter could result in a pretty good outcome for young Mr Haskins against the Seahawks.
Not easy to be optimistic but I choose to do so anyway.
The Giants beat them with Colt McCoy. I do think our defensive line will be able to contain Wilson.

Easiest example in my mind is the way Chase barks on the sideline now versus week 3-4 ish. I dont really know how to point it out, but I understand exactly where you are coming from here.
It probably has something to do with the fact that Chase Young was out for weeks 3 and 4.

So again, not sure what your argument is.
My argument is that Smith is better than Haskins but it isn't by as wide a margin as you believe it to be.

That said, I take Alex Smith all day, every day, on a bum leg over Dwayne Haskins.
I would too. I'm just baffled at the people who think we have the starter for next year already on the roster. Because I don't think we do. The way this team has responded to Rivera, especially the young players, tells me that they aren't as far off as previously thought. Can you imagine what this team would do with decent quarterback play?

Rivera deserves to win Coach of the Year. But Del Rio deserves a lot of credit for how well the defense is playing down the stretch.

Yea I think what you are missing is context. There is a lot more good he does that Haskins doesn't have the savvy to do yet. Football IQ to not take a sac in certain instances. The football IQ to not dick around with taking a knee and almost get your squad into a fight at the end of a game you won. The football IQ to maybe or maybe not take the ball with you forcing the refs to stop the clock.
The most obvious thing should have been coming back down 14 against the Steelers. Its takes savvy, experience and patience to do that. None of that resides within Haskins. He could have put up similar numbers, but he wouldn't have lead the same way and that makes s difference. Numbers mean so little for a QB.
Its sad to have to keep saying numbers need context in this argument and the cousins one like its some foreign concept.
So when they came back from 17 against the Eagles, what was that...luck? Or does that argument only work when you are using it to prop up the other guy because the Steelers are a better team than the Eagles?
I understand that numbers need context. Like the team's record. Just like in 2018, outside of maybe 2 games out of the 7 he's appeared in, the team is winning in spite of Alex, not because of him.
I am far from a Haskins apologist, but football IQ, leadership qualities, patience, etc. being used as a knock against a guy who has yet to start in 16 games (who was also voted a captain by his teammates) seems unfair. Alex is better than Haskins. But it ain't by much.

Smith is dead last in QBR and 30th in passer rating. We need a quarterback next year no matter what.

Ive had this convo more times than I care to admit but numbers don’t tell the whole story with QBs.
I agree with this 100%.

Haskins came in, cold, yes...
But he looked identical to when he came in as the starter.
That’s why he’s being judged more harshly.
Haskins looked like garbage. But do you honestly think he couldn't put these numbers up (or better) over a 5 game stretch?
113/171 - 66%1058 Yards
3TD / 3 INT
11 Sacks
6.19 AY/A
Those are very pedestrian numbers.

If Alex can't go on Sunday, why not just line up Chase in the wildcat? I mean he carried the offense yesterday, so there is precedent.

I am convinced that Haskins isn't the answer, but it amazes me at how he's judged more strongly coming off the bench cold than the savvy-veteran-who-does-nothing-but-win guy who had a dismal completion percentage and a turnover.

Didn’t the lead change against the lions at one point too? I thought it did...might be wrong.
i know for sure the lead changed against Dallas on thanksgiving...we were down 10-7 and then went up 14-10.
I forgot about Dallas. But no, we never had the lead in the Lions game.
43 minutes ago, clskinsfan said:Did you not see my above post? Smith is 7th in league history in win percentage. 7th. He has a better winning percentage than Matt Ryan or Phillip Rivers. And is tied with Drew Brees.
What about the post season?

I was actually screaming for Haskins to come in in the second half. Boy was I dumb.

I don’t disagree that he’s playing a different brand. But he also still has that same “take care of the ball” trait aside from one game. He limits turnovers, relies on open check downs and takes what’s given. But him slinging the ball (and turning it over) was the biggest reason we came back against the Giants (and lost).

You’re getting hung up in semantics. I think you are smart enough to know what people mean. They don’t mean he doesn’t ever lose... you’re a smart guy, you know that.
I know that. I also know that he's playing differently this year than he did in 2018. He turned into Rex Grossman for a 3-game spell and was a huge reason as to why we were even competitive in the 2nd Giants game.

It is saying facts. We win more with him than without him.
That's a huge difference from "all he does is win".

It feels like you just don’t like the guy or something?
I don't like the fanbase overrating his tenure here for sure. But I do like his pairing with Scott Turner and how the team has responded around him this year.

0/8 on first downs in the first half. The entire first half was nothing but 3 and outs and the failed 4th down conversion attempt. The offense looked pathetic. The pass to Cam Sims changed everything.

The guy has a ridiculous winning record as this franchise’s quarterback.
My God he's 9-5 as a starter. He hasn't even started a full season's worth of games yet.

6-4 is still a winning record, isn’t it? So how doesn’t that fit the narrative? I’m confused. He played lot hot garbage in the game against the Texans. Colt McCoy came in and that was our first actual tie all year. This team was going nowhere in 2018. 2020 is a different story. Scott Turner is actually a perfect fit for Smith.

Why don’t you count the loss to the Texans? He was the starter. The starter gets credited the W or the L. That’s how it works.
Because it doesn't fit the narrative of "we were 6-3!" and "all he does is win!"
Yesterday was the first lead change with Smith as the starting quarterback. He really stepped up in the second half. But I absolutely do not want him as the starter next year. He looked pathetic for 2.5 quarters of football.

No no thank you for stopping by and bringing something to the table lol. Without you we would have never known that Kirk has won exactly one playoff game. I can’t speak for others but I certainly am wiser for it.
I aspire to inform. Thanks! -

You got me. I literally meant that Kirk Cousins could never beat a good team ever and never ever had at the time I posted that. You have, using the unintelligible and mysterious google machine, proven me wrong on that completely serious and not trolly at all statement that I in no way was able to ascertain for myself.
You caught me!
At least you are man enough to admit it. Thanks!

You can beat them by showing the players this video before the game.-

FAREWELL to the NFL Dwayne Haskins QB Ohio State
in The Stadium
Posted
Nope.
Leftwich had some decent years with the Jags, but couldn't stay healthy. I think a better comp would be EJ Manuel. The Bills gave up on him in his sophomore season after just 4 starts.
