He's been in the bottom third of QBR for most of the year, bottom third in passer rating, and leads the league in turnovers and sacks. This nonsense about taking him over Josh Allen needs to stop. The "he's the guy" talk needs to stop.
He's earned next year. That's it. And if the new regime wants to draft or sign their guy, go for it.

The numbers with Mayfield's rookie year continue to be almost identical. Still too early to call him the guy, but he should be the QB1 here for the foreseeable future.

What does this mean?
Someone brought up a few pages ago that Howell reminded them of Mayfield without the douchebag attitude and I shared the stats because they are very similar through the first 9 games.

I wish we had just bit the bullet and started him last year. I mean after half a season he's already clearly better than anything we've had since Cousins. Imagine how much better he'd be right now if he had been the starter from last year.
They still would have went back to Wince once he was healthy.

He is not good. But he was moving the ball without his top two receivers and would have had them in position to at least kick a FG to tie the game if his receiver didn't allow the ball right throw his hands. That should tell us something about our defense.
Our defense was pathetic. That game should have been a blow out.

I see this one a lot, but it doesn’t make
much sense to me. The kid is clearly not a finished product, on a cheap contract with 2 years left. There’s no decision to make on him. We aren’t in a position to draft Williams or Maye.
My point being, we’ve got plenty of time to wait and see and are under no pressure to make a decision on him.
I think you misunderstood. I'm not in favor of jettisoning Sam at all. I'm in the wait and see if he's an actual franchise quarterback still. Other people have pointed to his passing yards and made declarative statements that he's the guy. Too early to say that.

Can we give a stud to Mac Jones? He was pretty much the reason they won yesterday. He is beyond awful.

I'm still in the "wait and see but he's trending upwards" camp on Howell, but can stop pretending that the Patriots aren't putrid on defense? I don't think yesterday's game should be used as any indication that he's definitely the guy. I would have said both Eagles games were much better barometers to use.

Never would have thought we'd get a second for Sweat. That's good.

Mac Jones is going to look like Joe Montana against this defense.
Patriots - 27
Commies - 16

Keim talked about this specifically in the previous podcast. He said zero chance they get a 3rd for Brissett. But right now it sounds like there are some late round pick offers on the table.
I would take a 4th as well. Browns fans are a delusional bunch, but maybe their front office is as well.

If they offer a 3rd for Brissett you pull the trigger immediately. But I have zero faith in Rivera.

Do people know that "I'm not 100% sold on Howell being the guy" does not mean "Howell isn't the guy"? I haven't seen one person, outside of that guy from the Washington Post who was harping on the sacks, declare that Howell is not the guy. 99% of this fanbase thinks he's the guy already. It's been mostly effusive praise.

I dont understand the EB criticism. The offense was humming all day. The only negative mark he gets is the 4th and 1 playcall.
He's called 2 great games and both of them were against the Eagles. Teams cannot run the ball against the Eagles, so throwing against them is the only way to beat them. However, going forward there needs to be more balance. But I suspect it's going to be more of the same. 5 step drop backs on almost every down.

Just another nail in the Rivera regime's coffin. I don't know why people get upset. I've said it last week. This team is not in its official reboot until all of Snyder's hires are gone. The ghost of Snyder still looms over this team. That will change once Rivera and his staff are gone.

Sam continues to make it appealing to a new front office and staff. As we saw yesterday, with an actual game plan that helps him out, he thrives.

The OC is just bad man. I get what he is trying to do, but I dont get why he doesnt see its not working.
Seems like he was right.

This is going to be the narrative now. Howell is nothing but a backup QB which is handcuffing the offensive genius of Bieniemy.

Waldron is intriguing to me. So is Ben Johnson.
