  1. They are close to that one more piece now though. A top QB would put this team as a SB contender. Heck this defense alone could get them to the championship game.
  2. Both 1st and 2nd lines are looking very strong. Maybe not the 2nd line DEs. Certainly should help improve everyone's game. Competition is key for young players to reach their peak potential.
  3. My take on Monday was that they made the decision to sign both players who were known to be in for a visit (Leno and McCain). Starting spots are hard to come by this late in the game. The money talks can take a couple of days for the vet FAs at this point of the process. I expect the McCain news to come soon.
  4. I was just thinking that. Arguably the best C they've had in 20 years. The best OG in that time too. There aren't too many great guards in that time overall. Moses is playing his best ball right now. Charles' 1st year was a redshirt. This year he'll be a flexible reserve who'll probably play with injuries. Next year, team may be looking at two new guards. He has a spot, just 'blocked' for now.
  5. Perfect. Feel really good about this OL. The one year buffer for Cosmi to learn his technique. There could be something there with Cosmi as an eligible pass catcher in the RZ. A few TDs would really be something else.
  6. I think it's worth shoring up the line this year with Fitz. Does Leno want a 1 ye deal? I do think there is a decision to be made about Moses vs Lucas in 2022. If Charles balls out, then it will be a choice between keeping Flowers or Scherff, and the latter may not want to be here.
  7. Playing devil's advocate with Lucas. He had the advantage of the Haskins experiment being over. For the offensive lineman who played the whole year their numbers would be dragged down by the games Lucas didn't start. So, that, coupled with a lot of quick passing, might have us thinking Lucas played better than he did last year.
  8. The timing of the roster move (today at midday) speaks to two FA signings today as there are now two spots. If they were going to sign one, they wouldn't have released anyone, and if they were going with three they would have announced another name at the same time.
  9. That ~4.7 time and lack of explosiveness looked evident on tape. Lacks the length to make up for it in coverage. To me, it re-affirmed how good the defensive coaches are when they playcalled to mitigate the weaknesses of the subs. I used to love these types of players when I was younger. Root for the underdog. Time has made me more realistic. He lacks the tools to be a starter.
  10. Hudson is a special teamer. A potentially great one, but he's that Everett of the LB crew type of guy and that is a great pick for where they got him. His lack of length and size shows up all the time. Maybe they move forward in 2022 with 2 starting LBs and have Curl close to the LOS. Bringing in a player like Hudson for 10 snaps a game as a WLB. That's the extent of what he could do. Kind of like how I see Shaka Toney as a SLB/DE. He'll have the chance to get a handful of plays per game, but there's no starting potential there. Easy to say considering the starters at DE. For the second part... If we saw Reaves as the starter for the year there would be a consensus on the forum within the season that it was a huge mistake. Reaves is a fringe NFLer. Bottom 5 of a roster, and I would argue is not an NFL player. I don't love McCain, but he's at least a starter.
  11. Add that to Chris Simms saying he was the 3rd WR on his board. Several former players seemed to be on the Dyami Brown move. I think players can often be great evaluators - they see who can play. WFT's Rivera and Mayhew seemed to have the impression that they were lucky to have Dyami still around. Maybe he wasn't the 3rd ranked wideout or a fringe 1st rounder like these two former players stated, but they could be right. Simms loved his route-running. And yet, the seemingly big knocks on him were a limited route tree from the left side of the field and concentration drops. He very could be McLaurinesque.
  12. The best pass rushing duo on this team will be Ioannidis and Young. WIth better hands, better technique, and specifically a better bull rush, Chase will be dominant. I think we all agree he can be a top defensive player in the league, and it might not take long. I expect Ioannidis to have done his homework and people forget how dominant a pass rusher he is. That interior pressure will only further help Chase Young.
  13. My argument goes more like this: NY Giants supposedly were taking Davis or Toney at 20. So a team who traded down expected him to be available at 20 and a rival took him a pick before them. A trade offer was made for the St. Juste pick, and the inquiring team wanted the same player. Does that mean that was his appropriate draft value? I think we're getting more from the media these days, and GMs and coaches are a bit more open about the potential options. I recall the post-draft Payne vs James or Edmunds in 2018. Even look at Del Rio saying "there were a couple corners that we liked that went before our pick" (Horn and Surtain) as evidence that Horn and Surtain were rated highly by multiple teams. Quite clearly WFT and other teams in the teens felt that those two were another tier from the rest, including Farley. As far as reach or not, I think you can get a sense now. Particularly if you hear multiple teams in the 20s, for instance, say that x player was of interest. And in turn, when it comes out that multiple teams had a player much lower it is fair to call it a reach. Josh LeRibeus anyone? So many come to mind. Plenty of 2000s Raiders picks.
  14. Well, count me as not part of the HoF crowd in here. Y'all crazy. Even peak Maurice Jones-Drew was the Hall of Very Good, and it didn't last long. Best case is that he makes Barber obsolete this year. Maybe even allowing them to go 3RBs to allow for more depth elsewhere.
  15. I think alternative landing spots dried up post-draft. We know he doesn't want to be the third wheel, but that's where his physical ability is at.
  16. If Leno signs, he starts at LT. They use the year to get Cosmi's technique up to par. That does mean you are looking at Lucas pushing Moses. Maybe not this year, but roughly the same age and probably not too much of a drop off. Heck, if Leno plays well you may be looking at Cosmi at RT for the duration of his rookie contract. Geron Christian is on the way out. Absent injury, put a fork in it.
  17. I love the potential of Davis' length and athleticism to cover TEs. A slightly longer and more athletic version of Marcus Washington. We've seen what a dynamic SLB in a 43 defense can do even if it didn't last long. And the thought of having a strong side of Sweat and Davis is pretty exciting. He and Curl will allow the team to use Collins as a defacto WLB because they will be in coverage.
  18. @JamesMadisonSkins I'm missing where Reaves hopped over Everett in the depth chart. To me, if you get McCain, Everett is the guy as the ST captain, and versatile reserve. Reaves is pretty one-dimensional. I think he's an easy cut.
  19. Not the first time in his career he has been asked to lose weight to improve his speed.
  20. No. This is a better team than Miami. I love me some Gesicki (natural hands), but it's not close for me.
  21. I think Heinecke won a spot over Allen. Montez with the high ceiling gets a year on the roster to see what he can do before they address the position next year. I guess it's not impossible to see Montez lasting another year on the PS, but I doubt it.
  22. QB:Fitzpatrick, Heinecke, Montez RB: Gibson, McKissic, Barber, Patterson WR1: McLaurin, Gandy-Golden WR2: Brown, C.Sims WR3: Samuel, Humphries TE: Thomas, Bates, Reyes LT: Cosmi, Lucas LG: Flowers, Charles C- Roullier, Ismael RG: Scherff, Schweitzer RT: Moses LE: Sweat, Smith-Williams, Bradley-King NT: Payne, Settle 3T: Allen, Ioannidis RE: Young, Toney SLB: Davis MLB: Holcomb, Bostic, Mayo WLB: Collins, Hudson LCB: Jackson RCB: St-Juste, Roberts NCB: Fuller, Moreland SS: Curl, Everett FS: Reaves, Forrest Special Teams: K Hopkins P Way LS Cheeseman KR Carter
