    House of Cards

Well you were right about Barry.......3 and 11 and 3rd and 12, we can't stop them and Cards get a TD. Barry needs to go..... we need blitzes with pressure on QB's while playing man up. We have too weak of a defensive backfield to play zone leaving large gaps with no one getting to the Qb. OK to average on 1st and 2nd downs...but we really suck on 3rd and longs. We are constantly getting killed. Lost the Detroit game because of his schemes and should have beat Dallas the 1st game. Way too many 3rd and longs get completed on us, most being game changers.

I also wanted to add a compliment to our offensive line for the numbers that Cousin's is racking up. Our sacks are minimal this year so far and with the injuries and suspension to our line...kudos go to Callahan and the newer Hogs. If we can bring in some more beast through the draft while keeping this group we have for consistency....we will be competing with Dallas for the best offensive line in the NFL. Just need to improve our run game but our offensive air attack with the blocking they have given is impressive. HTTR

I totally agree to quit paying Barry. I am sooooo tired of the 3rd and long downs being completed by the opposition for first downs. How do you score with a minute to go in the game at Detroit and blow it. How do you not stop Dallas from scoring over and over and come up with a loss. We have talent, great talent, but the defensive schemes by the coaching staff is killing us. The offensive schemes in the red zone is pathetic. Our offensive talent is too good to be so poor in the red zone. Dallas was 3 for 3 in 1st and goal situations and 4 for 4 in the red zone. Washington was 2 for 5. We have the perfect GM to build a dynasty and it is coming, but it will be to no avail if the coaching staff doesn't improve. 11 games gone and its way past time to say we need to improve in certain areas. Those areas are in the coaching staff. The improvements should have been made and set by now as the season is coming to a close with only 5 games left. I suggest that we need to start looking for a replacement for Barry, and send our offensive coordinator to a Red Zone College asap and demand better results these last 5 games. We have the talent already to be a playoff team, we just need better coaching. Having a #1 or #2 ranked offense get bottled up in the red zone consistently only points to poor play design and calling by the coach. What can you say about a defense that is given an average of 27 points a game by the offense and continuously fails to stop drives in game saving situations. Barry needs to go as this defense can't stop any team when it matters. Very tired of watching 1st and 2nd down success by the defense only to have it wasted by a big play on 3rd down and even 4th down. The wake up call is NOW! Gruden is a capable head coach,..... but not kicking extra points early in games and going for onsides kick in the later part of a game when field position is important, especially with timeouts and a 2 minute warning in your favor, and given the fact that the defense needs a long field to try to get 1 stop, has given me pause about his decision making skills. We should be in a comfortable position for at least a wild card, but that is questionable now. If the coaching staff continues on the pace they have been on in decision making, we are in trouble. If we don't make the playoffs, Gruden needs to make some changes in the coaching staff. We have the talent to be playing post season...only time will tell about the job our coaches will do.
  4. Happy with initial start of Atlanta game both offense and defense, but the secondary looked like it was being coached by Haslett et.al.after that. Little worried this year as Norman's strength was from how well the Panthers secondary worked together. Will be interested to see how well our secondary plays by the 1st game of the season and boy you couldn't ask for a better test than Antonio Brown and the Steelers passing game. Like I said, I am a little worried especially with our schedule this year. Having incurable cancer (multiple myeloma) that I have been fighting for 7 years, I pray to see another Super Bowl but I'm running out of time. Went to every game from 1961 to 2001 and FINALLY we have a great GM who will build this team like Bobby Beatherd (sp?) did. I hope I'm around for a couple of years to see the fruits of his labor. No more Shanahan and it takes 5 years to build a team attitude. Scotty is a guru when it comes to judging talent and he knows what it takes to win All Super Bowl teams have a great defense and monster offensive linemen. The Lombardi trophy comes from the trenches. Rypien wasn't a great QB, but the O-Line was tops and there is a good example. You are right about Scherff....and Scotty The Skins will get better every year.
  5. OK so the D coordinator isn't decided yet...I couldn't take Shanny and I can't stand Haslett and the destruction of our D. This fan can not forgive Haslett for the terrible records he set and while I will give Gruden a welcome, its time to end friendships and clean out the trash from this team. Friendship aside...we need a fresh start with no more Haslett memories. Snyder, I will be one disgruntled fan if Haslett is in the building next week. Learn your 4 year lesson and give...

ummm, I thought we all agreed to keep Dan OUT of any football personnel decisions.

  6. Are you kidding me??? Haslett is staying??? I am soooo sick of this coach and what our D became and am so disgusted with the decision to keep him. This could be this fan's nail in the coffin. since 1961, a fan forever but this may be it. The D has destroyed our team under this coach.

I had no idea that Haz and Jay Gruden were buddies until today. I must say that if Haz stays, I'll be disappointed.

  7. Happy New Year to all...Great start already now that Haslett is gone!

  8. Merry Christmas to all Skins fans. IMHO keep Kyle and let Mike and Jim take a major Hike! Kyle and the offensive team have done a decent job scoring this year...The D couldn't stop anyone. Kyle has shown he is capable in Houston, and even with Mike's presence, was able to put up decent numbers with the Skins and a sub par O line. Jim should have been fired with Mike after the 1st year. They have given the fans nothing in year 4 except embarrassment and the worst points allowe...

If we fire MS, which I support, then you get rid of the entire staff. Hire a GM and let them pick their staff. Do you really want the son of the guy you fired still on your staff, and at OC? I don't. Send one, send them all.

    3. Glenn X

      Glenn X

Exactly, goskins10. This team needs a fresh start with all new coaches. And, as you say, an actual GM in the front office would be nice, too!

    4. 17kilmer

      17kilmer

      amen ,to that.

  9. Haslett and Shanny CRUSHING the franchise points allowed record. was 423 and now at 458 with 1 game to go! Thanks so much for this Mike and Jim...you have really earned your pay in your 4th season. You are a total embarrassment to this storied franchise Thanks for the new record !

  10. Hail to Fletcher. Thanks for always giving 110%. Grab Gruden, Snyder, before he signs with Univ of Texas

    1. goskins10

      goskins10

Better to grab a good GM and let them pick their coach. If we are going to start over again, let's at least do it the right way.

  11. Haslett/Shanny lovers, They have now set the all time record in franchise history for points allowed! 434 and still 2 games to go!. They are shattering the record! Here's to all the lovers who complained when I said he should be fired 3 years ago.

    1. Glenn X

      Glenn X

Your highlighting of this dubious record used to annoy me. But now that it's obvious (or should be) that Shanny & Co. need to go, I find it affirming.

    2. rabidskin

      rabidskin

Believe me Glenn...I have hated posting it every single time. It makes me sick, almost as sick as I am of this teams inability to stop the teams from scoring. Dallas has the worst D but at least they don't get scored on as much. We should play much better and it boils down to the coaches personnel decisions and schemes. I am so disgusted. Gone to Skins games since 1961 and never thought I would see us this bad. PS happy birthday...my son was born on 12/22 also.

    3. Glenn X

      Glenn X

Really? What an interesting coincidence on the b-day thing! As for the coaching sitch, I apologize for being so dismissive of your concerns previously. I think I just so badly wanted Shanny to succeed and see the team have some stability that I was blinded to the fact that Shanny had mismanaged too many parts of the team for too long. At this point, the season can't end -- and Shanny's firing can't arrive -- quickly enough!

  12. Well, anotjher sad loss and another 24 points against our D. Thats 362 points with 4 games to go. All time points allowed record is 421 in franchise history...Go Haslett/Shanahan not bad for 4th year.

      darrelgreenie

I want to imagine a scenario where the Mike comes back and we have success.....but its hard...new special teams coach..new DC...somehow Kyle improves the gameplan, playcalling and development of Griffin and repairs his relationship with Griffin...

    4. darrelgreenie

      darrelgreenie

But how can we keep the person that hired the special teams coach and hired the DC...and watched the offensive miscues and was part of the broken relationship with QB...and what the heck does Bruce Allen do?

  13. Haslett, let me have a great Thanksgiving by you announcing your resignation! Take a Hike! 338 points with 5 games to go to break the all time 421 point franchise record for points allowed.

    1. rabidskin

      rabidskin

lets see...that's 16.6 point a game to break the record.....I'd say its a cinch since you have allowed 24 points and more every game but 1 out of 11. 10 games the D has allowed 24-45 points. 1 game at 14 points and that was Oakland. Absolutely embarrassing!

  14. Are the Shanahan/Haslett lovers satisfied now? I have complained for years and does anyone get it yet? All wasted time being a die hard fan with this group of coaches

  15. Hey fans....just for the record, the worst points allowed by a Redskins D in the 34 year history of the 16 game schedule is 421 in 1998 and 412 in 1994. These are the only 2 times it ever broke 400 points. We are now at 311 with 6 games left

    1. rabidskin

      rabidskin

Come on Haslett...I know you can set a new record and be the most scored on D in Redskins history. I have total faith in you and you are tops in being inept. You can do this! I've never been so proud!

    2. BraunMan92

      BraunMan92

All they have to do is average allowing more than 19 ppg allowed the rest of the year to do it

  16. Translated....Fire this coaching staff TODAY! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH...ITS BEEN A LONG TIME AND YOU ARE AN EPIC FAIL SHANAHAN AND HASLETT

  17. Any bets on which lame excuse Shanahass will use this time?

  18. start of 3rd qtr and eagles up 24-0....Is there any question anymore how bad Shanahan and Haslett are? Absolutely PATHETIC! Guess Eagles 1st year coach doesnt need a long time to whip Shanahan's butt twice. Another in the long list of coaches who immediately turn their programs around. Resign Shanny and Haslett. Snyder is in a coma

  19. Skins fans, I would like to make one valid point that seems to be ignored by Snyder. When you hire a coach, his job is to better the team. Our offense needed fixing and he should have stuck with that. Now we can score. The only problem is that he changed something that was great and our D was top 10 for 3 straight yearws. He trashed them and put them on the bottom. Why...go to a 3-4 for what? We were good Why trash and change for the worse. Now we can't stop anyone or beat a 1-7 tea...

    1. rabidskin

      rabidskin

a 1-7 team with a 13 point lead. This coach is setting the all time record for being scored on in franchise history, in his 4th year! His 3 other years are 4th, 6th and 9th worst in the 34 years of a 16 game schedule. This year will break over 500 points at this rate and be the all time worst as he is giving up over 31 points a game avg with only 6 games left. Nice job screwing up a good D, time to go! enough is enough.

    2. rabidskin

      rabidskin

How's that for depressing and sad to say the reality and state of the Redskins D

    3. Bang

      Bang

Stats don't show the whole story of our Bkache defenses.

Ideally tyhe 3-4 is built to pressure the quarterback, which is paramount in defending today's pass happy NFL.

      we can't do that.

Switching to the 3-4 is one thing. Not running it to what it is capable of doing is causing our entire defnse to suffer. we do not pressure the QB, and we didn't pressure the QB in the Blache years.

  20. London Fletcher, I'm sorry you had to play for such pathetic coaches in your final years. Thanks for your efforts and giving 110%, Your right up there with Sam Huff and Hamberger in my book.

    4. rabidskin

      rabidskin

sorry coach that I didn't cover the tight end...its hard to cover him and the running back since I have no help.

  21. DAN SNYDER....... Do you feel you made a mistake on Shanahan and his inept D sidekick Haslett? I have been complaining for years how he destroyed our D and trashed them for a 3-4 that is pathetic. How about his setting the all time worst records in franchise history for points allowed. When is it that you have had enough? You made us suffer too,too long with Vinny, and you would not listen. Now you are doing the same. Wake up and smell your coaches as they STINK worse than ever before....

  22. Bottom line...a loss to a 1-7 team with 8 starters out and we lose again. This is 4 years of @#$% and I am fed up with these coaches and their decisions.. These are all healthy starters that he built. Guys face it...this is the coach who was sold on Grossman and gave away 2 picks for McNabb. Landry and Rogers went to pro bowl as they weren't good enough for Haslett. FIRE THIS STAFF

    4. rabidskin

Snyder has stayed out of it and let Shan and Allen do their thing. Snyder should open his mouth now and say that they have totally screwed up a top 10 D

  23. Yea!!! Way to go again Haslett. How about this again Shanahan /Haslett lovers. Another big lead to waste to a 1-7 team. Great job D!! I am so proud of our D rankings. We are SOOO good for the 4th year of this nonsense.

    1. rabidskin

      rabidskin

Pray someone in upper management realizes that this is year 4 and we are again the basement sludge on D. Remember folks that we were top 10 D for 3 straight years. Enough with Salary cap excuses, they were not here in year 1 and 2 and this regime also brought on the penalty. Total destruction of a decent D and giving us the worst D in Redskins history after 4 years of rebuilding. What a CROCK!

TIME TO FIRE THIS COACHING STAFF AND REBUILD THAT

  24. Shanahan Fan's Fact: This is the 34th season that the NFL has played a 16 game season. Of those 34 years in Redskin history, Shanahan has had the 4th,6th and 9th worst records for points allowed and this years team is the All Time number 1 worst. Shanahan's defensive teams have allowed 377,367,and 388 points against. This years team is setting an all time record with 253 points in 8 games.

rabid - I don't disagree that after 3.5 yrs of JHaslett and MS the D shouldn't be better. However, 2 things, first there really are some outside contributing factors that are highly unusual like th cap hit, the CBA yr and a crazy number of injuries. But more importantly if you want to throw stats and data which I am fan of, you need to be accurate. And you need to be fair. more...

    3. goskins10

      goskins10

You used pts/gm for MS but then referenced "top 10" Ds before when they were only top 10 in yds, not pts/gm. In fact in pts/gm they were almost as bad. Then the whole scab thing, You had the complete wrong year. and they only played 4 gms. Rant all you want. Just be accurate and consistent.

    4. Glenn X

      Glenn X

rabidskin, the "legasy" of the cap penalty is due to a little thing called collusion, which is supposedly against the rules. You can blame the Commish and John Mara for that nonsense, not Shanny. As for the defense, I was hoping the Jets would tank and that Rex Ryan would be on the market in the offseason. Alas, that looks not to be.

  25. Another leader statistic.....Redskins have given up more points than anyone in the NFL except Jacksonville who has played an extra game. We have been scored on more than anyone including 10 other teams who have played 8 games to our 7...this is sick!
